Satkhira van-puller attacked by rare disease
Satkhira, Aug 6 (UNB) – After Khulna’s tree-man Abul Bajandar and Muktamoni of Satkhira, this time a van-puller in Ashashuni upazila of the district has been found suffering from a rare disease.
However, local physicians say the disease can be cured through better treatment.
Pintu Gazi, son of poor Mujibur Rahman, lives at Srikolsh cluster village in Ashashuni upazila along with his elderly parents, wife and a school-going son.
He used to earn his livelihood by pulling a van. But he was attacked by the rare disease which is increasing gradually.
Locals are suggesting Pintu to take better treatment to get rid of the rare disease, but it is quite impossible for him to receive improved treatment due to his financial condition.
Referring to the rare disease, Dr Arun Kumar Banerjee, Ashashuni Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, said, “We don’t have any such treatment facility here and there would be no solution in this regard other than showing him to Dr Samanta Lal Sen of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.”
Regarding seeking treatment for him, Upazila Social Welfare Officer Sumona Sharmin said, “We don’t have enough fund for the treatment of this rare disease. However, Social Welfare Directorate and Samaj Kalyan Parishad would try their level best to this end.”
Meanwhile, Shahinur Rahman, local UP member of Srikolsh village, urged the higher authorities to ensure treatment to the van-puller.
Besides, Pintu sought cooperation from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for his early recovery.
