Antigua Test: Bangladesh 103 all out in first-innings
Bangladesh were all out for 103 in the first-innings of the Antigua Test against the hosts West Indies Thursday.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Nurul Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman and Khaled Ahmed were out for ducks.
Put to bat first after losing the toss, the visitors lost six wickets before the lunch break in 32.5 overs.
For the hosts, Jayden Seales, Alzari Joseph took three wickets each, and Roach, Kyle Mayers bagged two wickets each.
Bangladesh lost their first wicket when Joy made a golden duck off the second ball of the innings after Tamim Iqbal managed to score a single off the first ball.
Kemar Roach picked up the first two wickets.
After that, Mominul, Nurul, Mustafizur and Khaled also made golden ducks.
This is the second consecutive Test when Bangladesh made six ducks in a single innings. Bangladesh made as many ducks in the second Test in Dhaka against Sri Lanka.
New Bangladesh Test captain Shakib Al Hasan top-scored for the Tigers (51).
Tamim scored the second-highest runs (29). The other batter who reached a double-digit figure was Liton Das (12).
The Test is not being broadcast in Bangladesh as no television channel showed interest to do so.
However, visitors from Bangladesh can watch the match on a website managed by the International Cricket Council by subscribing to it.

Antigua Test: Bangladesh bat first against West Indies
West Indies have won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bat first in the first of the two-match Test series in Antigua Thursday.
Bangladesh included left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman in the playing XI. Liton Das will not keep wicket in this match. Nurul Hasan Sohan was added to the playing XI as specialist wicketkeeper.
Along with Mustafizur, the other two pacers of Bangladesh are Khaled Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain – both playing their first Test in the West Indies.
In this Test, the West Indies are relatively younger compared to Bangladesh. However, the late inclusion of Kemar Roach will be a boost to the hosts.

Before this series, Bangladesh took on the West Indies in 18 matches and won only four of them.
The Tigers played eight Tests in the West Indies and won two of them with the last win being in 2018 during their last tour to the Caribbean.
Bangladesh will miss the service of batter Mushfiqur Rahim who chose not to take part in this series for personal reasons.
Right before the first Test, Bangladesh also lost Yasir Ali Rabbi who suffered a blow on his back that eventually ruled him out of the series. To replace him, Bangladesh recalled Anamul Haque to the Test team after eight years. He will be available to play in the second Test slated to be played on June 24.

Shakib wants to see ‘team performance’
Newly appointed Bangladesh Test captain Shakib Al Hasan said he seeks the players will perform as a team in the series against the West Indies starting on Thursday at Antigua.
Shakib took over the role of the Test captain after previous captain Mominul Haque decided to step aside after failing to find a rhythm in captaincy. In the last series at home against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh lost 1-0 in two-match Test competition.
“I’m looking for a team performance in this series,” Shakib told the reporters ahead of the first match. “We haven’t been able to play well in Tests recently. So this series is a great chance for us to prove everyone wrong and play well. We have to take a good performance from this Test.”
The allrounder said he is not worried about his individual performance as he has done well against Sri Lanka at home.

In the last tour to the West Indies in 2018, Bangladesh failed to do well. But Shakib believes the situation is better now for Bangladesh and they are upbeat to display a good brand of cricket.
The Bangladesh captain also said the wicket of Antigua looks completely different than he saw it earlier.
“The wicket looks good to me. It would help the batters early on, but batting may get tough in the fourth innings of the match when spinners should come into the effect,” Shakib said.
Bangladesh will not get the service of the veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim who opted to not play this series for personal reasons.
The visitors also lost Yasir Ali Rabbi, a middle-order batter, due to a back injury that he sustained during the tour match.

To replace him, Bangladesh called in Anamul Haque Bijoy to the Test side after eight years. Anamul played his last Test in the venue where Bangladesh will play the second Test of this series— Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia.
In this four-Test career, Anamul scored only 73 runs with the best of 22 runs. However, he has done well in First-class cricket since his last omission from the Test team in 2014. He will be available to play Tests ahead of the second match that would begin on June 24.
He is now the youngest Bangladeshi batter to have scored 7000 or more runs in First-class cricket. He also has 22 centuries and 37 half-centuries in First-class cricket.
Mustafizur Rahman, the left-arm pacer, is set to return to Test after a while. The pacer was not willing to play in the longer format of the game. But the team management convinced him to do so.
Meanwhile, Bangladeshi fans might not be able to watch the Test series on television as no channel has shown interest to broadcast the game in Bangladesh. In that case, the spectators might need to turn to the internet to watch the game through alternative channels.
The two-match Test series is a part of the ongoing cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.
Apart from two Tests, Bangladesh will take on the hosts in a three-match ODI and three-match T20I series on this tour.
Shadab gives Pakistan ODI series sweep against West Indies
Shadab Khan’s brilliant all-round performance led Pakistan to a 53-run win over West Indies in the third one-day international on Sunday and a 3-0 series sweep.
Shadab’s career-best 86 off 78 balls revived Pakistan to 269-9 after the hosts chose to bat first and their top order stumbled against the surprise off-spin of Nicholas Pooran, who finished with 4-48 in 10 overs.

West Indies' own struggle against spin continued as its middle order again capitulated against Shadab (4-62) and Mohammad Nawaz (2-56). The visitors were bowled out for 216 in 37.2 overs, losing by 53 runs under the DLS method. A dust storm in Multan suspended play for an hour during Pakistan’s innings and the match was reduced to 48 overs a side.
No. 7 batter Akeal Hosein smashed six sixes and two fours to top-score for West Indies with 60 off 37 balls before he was undone by Shadab’s sharp delivery and stumped.
“We executed our plans and got the desired results,” Pakistan skipper Babar Azam said. “We are trying different combinations with bat and ball. We will try to keep continuity and also test our bench strength.”
Thanks to Pooran, Pakistan had slipped to 117-5 halfway through its innings despite a good start. Imam-ul-Haq (62), who hit his seventh-straight ODI half century, added 85 runs for the first wicket with Fakhar Zaman (35).
But Pooran, who had bowled just three balls in previous ODIs, stunned Pakistan with his bounce and sharp spin.
Pooran had Zaman clean bowled in his third over and leg-spinner Hayden Walsh followed it up by successfully going for a leg-before-wicket referral against Azam, who was out for a rare single-digit score of 1.
Pooran then enjoyed the quick wickets of Imam, Mohammad Haris (0) and Mohammad Rizwan (11) before Shadab revived the innings with a gritty 84-run stand with Khushdil Shah, who made 34.
Shadab looked set for his first ODI hundred before he was clean bowled by Jayden Seales off a perfect yorker in the last over.
Pakistan's Shahnawaz Dahani, who made his ODI debut after Shaheen Shah Afridi was rested for the final game, didn't have to wait long to get his first wicket when West Indies started the chase. Kyle Mayers (5) was brilliantly caught low at point by Imam in Dahani's second over as West Indies also struggled against the pace of Mohammad Wasim (1-21).
The introduction of spin unsettled the middle-order batters with Pooran holing out in the deep for 11 while going for a big shot against left-arm spinner Nawaz.
Hosein gave West Indies a glimmer of hope when he added 49 runs for the eighth wicket with Romario Shepherd (16) before Shadab struck in successive overs and Hasan Ali (2-29) claimed the last wicket of Shepherd.

“The last two games were disappointing for us,” Pooran said, referring to West Indies’ 120-run loss on Friday in the second ODI. “We played poorly with the bat. We did well as a team and going forward that will be the template.”
The series win lifted Pakistan to No. 4 on the points table — immediately above West Indies — in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The top eight teams will directly qualify for next year’s World Cup in India.
The ODI series was postponed last year when West Indies flew back home after a COVID-19 outbreak in the visitors’ camp during the preceding T20 series in Pakistan.

Tamim, Siddons among group off to West Indies tonight
Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal and batting coach Jamie Siddons left the capital for West Indies Monday (Jun 6) night by a Qatar Airways flight.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Yasir Ali are also part of the batch, the second to leave for the Tigers' tour of the West Indies.
Bangladesh will have a full tour including two Tests, three ODI and three T201s in that order, with the first Test starting on June 16. The Test series will be part of the 2021-2023 ICC World Test Championship.
Spinner Taijul Islam and pacer Mustafizur Rahman will fly for West Indies on Wednesday (June 8) while Bangladesh Test captain Shakib Al Hasan, who left Dhaka on Sunday for USA will join the team on June 10.

West Indies leading Sri Lanka despite Mendis’ 6 wickets
Offspin bowler Ramesh Mendis fueled a Sri Lankan fightback with a maiden five-wicket haul but the West Indies still led by three runs in the second innings at stumps on the third day of the second test on Wednesday.
Sri Lanka was 46-2 in its second innings at close having conceded a 49-run first innings lead to the visitors, who were bowled out for 253. Sri Lanka scored 204 in its first innings.

Captain Dimuth Karunaratne (6) was run out to a brilliant direct hit from Kyle Mayers and Oshada Fernando (14) was also run out. Pathum Nissanka was batting on 21 with Charith Asalanka on 4.
Mendis had bowling figures 6-70 while left-arm spinners Praveen Jayawickrama and Lasith Embuldeniya took two wickets each.
Sri Lanka went to lunch strongly placed on 145-2 but lost the remaining wickets for the addition of another 59 runs.
Resuming Wednesday on 69-1, the West Indies had batted remarkably well to add 76 runs in the first session, losing only one wicket.
But the slide started post lunch when West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite, who was batting with confidence, was bowled by Embuldeniya for 72. The bowler ran over the wicket and pitched a flighted ball outside the right-handed Brathwaite’s leg stump and the ball turned sharply and hit the top of off stump.
Mendis had Roston Chase (10) caught at leg slip by Asalanka and trapped Shai Hope (22) lbw.

Jason Holder (4) unsuccessfully reviewed an lbw decision against him because a ball delivered by Mendis appeared to bounce over the stumps. In the next ball, Joshua da Silva played through the wrong line expecting a ball from Mendis to turn more than it did and was bowled. His fall left Sri Lanka 197-7.
Mayers (36 not out) with Kemar Roach (8) ensured that the West Indies took a lead in the first innings and extended it in a 38-run partnership for the ninth wicket with Veerasammy Permaul (8).
Sri Lanka won the first test by 187 runs at the same venue, meaning the West Indies must win here to draw the series.
Nissanka hits unbeaten 61 as Sri Lanka closes Day 1 at 113-1
Opening batsman Pathum Nissanka scored an unbeaten 61 to get Sri Lanka off to a good start Monday on the first day of the second test against the West Indies as the hosts reached 113-1 at stumps.
Play was suspended because of bad light in the 35th over.
Nissanka, who completed his third test half century, and captain Dimuth Karunaratne shared 106 runs for the first wicket.
Karunaratne, who scored 147 and 83 in the first test, looked rusty in his 90-ball 42 before being caught and bowled by offspinner Roston Chase. Karunaratne hit six boundaries.

Nissanka looked more fluent as his runs came off 109 deliveries. He hit a six and four boundaries.
The pitch in Galle had spin and bounce on the first day but the three West Indies spinners failed to take full advantage. Chase finished the day with 1-33.
Sri Lanka dropped fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera to give batsman Charith Asalanka his first test match on his home ground.

The West Indies made two changes from the first match, dropping fast bowler Shanon Gabriel for Kemar Roach while left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul was recalled after more than five years and took the place of offspinner Rakheem Cornwall.
Sri Lanka won the first test at the same venue by 187 runs and the West Indies need to win the second to draw the two-match series.
Warner leads Australia to win in poignant game for WIndies
David Warner smashed 89 not out to lead Australia to an eight-wicket victory over West Indies at the T20 World Cup on Saturday, with Dwayne Bravo — definitely — and Chris Gayle — probably — playing their last games for West Indies.
Put in to bat, West Indies did well to reach 157-7, led by captain Kieron Pollard's 31-ball 44 and Andre Russell's explosive finish. Australia replied with 161-2 in 16.2 overs in what proved to be a comfortable chase.
West Indies started with a rapid 30 runs before collapsing to 35-3, including the wicket of 42-year-old Chris Gayle. He was out for 15, including two inevitable sixes, in what looked like the cricket great's last innings for West Indies.
Gayle's teammate, Bravo, had already announced his retirement from international cricket. All-rounder Bravo scored 10 in his last innings Saturday with bowling figures of 0-36 in four overs. Like Gayle, the 38-year-old Bravo won the T20 World Cup with West Indies in 2012 and 2016.

Gayle was out in trademark fashion, attempting to smash pacer Pat Cummins and sending an inside edge on to leg stump. He raised his bat and both hands as he left the field, hugged Bravo and received applause from teammates. His apparent retirement, which has not been officially confirmed, took many observers by surprise.
Gayle is the most prolific scorer in the format, with the left-handed batter the first to score 14,000 T20 runs for clubs and country in all competitions. He also played 103 tests for West Indies with an average of 42.
Mitchell Starc (1-33) had a finish to forget, being smashed for six off the last two balls of West Indies' innings by Russell (18 not out). Josh Hazlewood was the most successful bowler for Australia with 4-39 off four overs, while Adam Zampa was economical with 1-20, also in four overs.
Australia also started well by reaching 33-0 after three overs, with Warner supplying most of the runs, before his opening partner Aaron Finch (9) was bowled by Akeal Hosein (1-29) in the next over. Warner's 56-ball innings included nine fours and four sixes. Mitchell Marsh hit a 32-ball 53 as Australia cruised to victory.
Gayle made a final mark on the game by claiming Marsh's wicket with 1-7 from his single over.
Australia needed to win convincingly to maximize its chances ahead of the final Group 1 match later Saturday between leader England and South Africa in Sharjah.
England and second-place Australia have eight points, two more than South Africa, with Australia and South Africa keeping a close eye on net run rate. Two teams from the group advance to the semifinals.

T20 World Cup: Despite early wickets W Indies post 142 vs Bangladesh
Thanks to Bangladesh’s sloppy fielding once again, West Indies posted 142 for seven in their third match in the Super 12s of the T20 World Cup despite losing some early wickets on Friday at Sharjah. Nicholas Pooran smashed 40 off 22 balls, the highest runs for the West Indies, while debutant Roston Chase scored 39. Mustafizur Rahman bagged two wickets but conceded as many as 43 runs in four overs with 19 in the last over with three sixes. Mahedi Hasan grabbed two wickets in his first three overs conceding only 11 runs while Mustafizur scalped one wicket removing Evin Lewis in his first over. West Indies lost Chris Gayle, Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer inside eight overs of their innings for 39 runs.
READ: T20 World Cup: Bangladesh bowl first vs West Indies with two changes
Mahedi ended up taking two wickets conceding 27 in four overs, but the all-rounder also dropped two easy catches. Afif Hossain also missed a catch. Afif missed a catch from Jason Holder while Mahedi missed Chase twice. In the last five overs, West Indies scored 72 runs losing only three wickets. Shorfiul Islam, the left-handed pacer, also bagged two wickets for Bangladesh conceding only 20 runs in four overs. Bangladesh made two changes to their playing XI including Soumya Sarkar and Taskin Ahmed to replace Nurul Hasan Sohan and Nasum Ahmed. Nurul has been ruled out for an injury, and Nasmu was rested. Bangladesh lost the first two matches of the Super 12s stage, and West Indies have also lost their first two matches. So this match came as a chance for both the teams to keep their Semi-finals dream alive.
