Get ready as major shift taking place in global economy: FM
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has laid emphasis on getting prepared with skills, education and infrastructure as a major shift is taking place in the world economy.
"To gain from this change, we’ve to prepare ourselves with skills, education, infrastructure, good governance, and above all goodwill," Dr Momen said.
He laid emphasis on working together in partnership and need to be fully prepared to overcome the challenges and to grip the opportunities ahead.

"I’m confident that through our collective efforts, strong coordination and hard work, we’ll be able to turn Bangladesh into ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation," Dr Momen said.
He was addressing a virtual programme titled "Perspective Plan 2041 and Quest for Development: Golden Bengal as a Label for Nation Branding" held on Thursday night.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr Md Javed Patwari and Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury also spoke at the event.
Expatriate Bangladeshis in South Korea urged to come forward to build "Sonar Bangla"
Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Abida Islam has said Bangladesh has been making significant contribution to the establishment of peace and conflict resolution following the ideology of peace propagated by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
She also mentioned that Bangabandhu’s effort to promote peace, cooperation and peaceful co-existence is best reflected in his foreign policy formulation that is based on the principle of friendship towards all, malice towards none.
The Ambassador, while addressing a virtual discussion on Sunday, called upon the expatriate Bangladeshis to provide combine efforts to build a hunger and poverty-free, happy and prosperous "Sonar Bangla" as envisioned by Father of the Nation.

The Embassy of Bangladesh, Seoul celebrated the 48th Anniversary of the Bangabandhu’s receipt of Juliot-Curie Medal of Peace on Sunday with due fervor and festivity.
To observe the occasion in a befitting manner, the Embassy held an online discussion programme chaired by Ambassador Abida Islam and participated by expatriate Bangladeshis living in South Korea.
At the beginning of the programme, a documentary on Bangabandhu’s receipt of Juliot-Curie Medal of Peace was screened.
Ambassador Abida Islam paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
She touched upon the background of Bangabandhu’s receipt of Juliot-Curie Medal of Peace and his great contribution in establishing lasting world peace.
Implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord by the Prime Minister in 1996 and submission of model of world peace at UN General Assembly in 2011 by empowering people and ensuring development are the shining examples of that.

Moreover, as a leading troop contributing country at the UN peacekeeping missions, Bangladesh continues to contribute to the world peace.
During the discussion session, the participants remembered with great respect the contribution of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in establishing lasting peace in the world.
Also, they discussed on Bangabandhu’s vision, philosophy and his tireless efforts to promote world peace and non-violence and peaceful co-existence.

Will build Bangladesh as ‘Sonar Bangla’, vows PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday vowed to build Bangladesh as ‘Sonar Bangla’ in the near future as Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to ensure a better and decent life for the people of this country.
“We must build ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by you (Bangabandhu). The day is not far away. It’s our commitment to you,” she said while addressing the nation during the formal inauguration of the ‘Mujib Borsho’ celebrations marking the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation.
Noting that Bangladesh now enjoys a dignified position in the world stage, the Prime Minister said the country will have to march forward further to establish it as a hunger- and poverty-free and developed one as dreamt by the Father of the Nation.
On the birth centenary of Bangabandhu, she called upon the young generation to love the country and its people as well as build themselves as worthy citizens for moving with dignity in the world arena.
“My appeal to today's children, teenagers and youth generation is that you’ll love the country and the people of the country. This freedom we earned in exchange for many sacrifices. So, you’ll have to build yourselves as worthy citizens so that you can move keeping your head high as an independent nation in the world stage,” she said in her speech telecast by Bangladesh Television and different private TV channels.
Sheikh Hasina, the eldest daughter of Bangabandhu, also urged the young generation to develop their life with the ideals of the Father of the Nation and love the people as he did.
She extended the greetings of the ‘Mujib Borsho’ to all the citizens of Bangladesh living at home and abroad as well as all the people of the world.
The ‘Mujib Borsho’ celebrations started with fireworks at 8pm at historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the city marking the birth centenary of the greatest Bangalee of all times and architect of independent Bangladesh.
President Md Abdul Hamid also addressed the nation during the inauguration of the ‘Mujib Borsho’.
Recalling the dedications and sacrifices Bangabandhu made for the wellbeing of the people of this country, the Prime Minister said he gifted this country named Bangladesh. “He had given the Bangalees the dignity of identity as a nation.”
