President inaugurates trailer of 'Chironjib Mujib'
President Abdul Hamid inaugurated the trailer of the feature film "Chironjib Mujib" based on "Ausamapta Atmajiboni" (The Unfinished Memoirs), an autobiography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
An inaugural ceremony was organised on the occasion at the darbar hall of Bangabhaban on Sunday.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB that President Hamid enjoyed the show of the feature film.
Hamid said this type of film will help the young generation know about the life and works of Bangabandhu.
The film highlighted his boldness and integrity which will inspire the new generation, he also said.

He hoped that new and young filmmakers will produce more movies like this.
On the other hand, the director of the film Nazrul Islam, also the Prime Minister’s Speech Writer, highlighted the background of the film in his speech during the programme.
Bury differences for national unity to build Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla: President Hamid
President Abdul Hamid has called for a strong national unity against communalism and undemocratic practice in order to realize Bangabandhu’s dream of transforming Bangladesh into ‘Sonar Bangla’ or Golden Bengal. The President was speaking at the inaugural of the two-day special session of Parliament to mark the Golden Jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh. He urged the political parties regardless of their ideologies to follow the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, in building a culture of tolerance and mutual respect and take the country ahead.

The President said every effort is being made to establish good governance in the country. The Anti-Corruption Commission, the National Human Rights Commission and the Information Commission are actively discharging their responsibilities. The rule of law has been established by speedily disposing of verdicts in Bangabandhu murder case, war crimes and other sensational cases including trial of crimes against humanity, he said. He added that the government's 'Zero Tolerance' policy aimed at curbing corruption, drug addiction, militancy, terrorism and communalism has brought relief to the country, which is being lauded worldwide. Annual performance agreements, grievance redressal management, citizens' charter and integrity strategy are being implemented to bring every government institution under transparency and accountability for ensuring good governance, he also added. Hamid also asked political leaders, civil society and stakeholders, irrespective of party affiliation, to work together to establish good governance.

To this end, everyone must work relentlessly, he added. He said, "Bangladesh needs to continue the ongoing development trend by utilizing the Fourth Industrial Revolution to meet the challenge of transition to a developing country." Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury presided over the special session where Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was also present.
Maldives Vice President due Monday
Faisal Naseem, Vice President of the Republic of Maldives, is scheduled to arrive here on Monday on a three-day official visit to take forward the bilateral relations and discuss potential areas of cooperation.
Cooperation in the areas of health, education, manpower export will be discussed during his visit apart from other bilateral issues.
Asked whether the Vice President will meet President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a diplomat told UNB that they are working on it.

The Vice President is likely to have meetings with a number of Ministers, including Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
Dr Momen will receive the Vice President of the Maldives upon his arrival around 9:15am, said a senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Vice President would be accompanied by, among others, two Cabinet Ministers and the Foreign Secretary of the Maldives.

Faisal Naseem was sworn into office on 17 November 2018 for a 5-year term.
Earlier, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Bangladesh in March and joined Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary celebrations and Bangladesh's Golden Jubilee of independence.
Armed Forces Day to be observed Sunday
Armed Forces Day will be observed across the country on Sunday with due solemnity and enthusiasm.
On this day in 1971, Bangladesh Armed Forces comprising army, navy and air force came into being and launched an all-out attack on the Pakistani occupation forces.

Since the country's independence, the day has been observed as the Armed Forces Day every year.
The day’s programmes will start with the offering of special prayers in mosques of all cantonments, naval outposts and establishments and air force outposts after Fajr prayers seeking divine blessings for the country’s welfare and progress and continued development and progress of the Armed Forces.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will place wreaths at ‘Shikha Anirban’ (the Eternal Flame) at Dhaka Cantonment in the morning to pay homage to members of the Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives in the War of Liberation.
President Abdul Hamid, who is also the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion.
The chiefs of the three services will place wreaths at ‘Shikha Anirban’ at Dhaka Cantonment in the morning from their respective forces.
Later, the three chiefs will pay courtesy calls on the president at Bangabhaban and the Prime Minister at the Armed Forces Division at Dhaka Cantonment.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister will host a reception and meet the family members of the Bir Shresthas and other gallantry award-winning freedom fighters virtually at Army Multipurpose Complex.
In the afternoon, Sheikh Hasina will also host a reception at 4pm at Sena Kunja in Dhaka Cantonment to commemorate the day.
The chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force will also accord receptions to the award-winning freedom fighters of their respective forces and their inheritors.
On the occasion, the speaker of the parliament, the chief justice, former presidents of the country, opposition leader of the parliament, cabinet ministers, state ministers, former chief advisors, election commissioners, journalists, educationalists and other high officials will be present as guests.
Meanwhile, programmes have been chalked out to observe the day at all army garrisons, naval ships and establishments and air force bases throughout the country.
Specially decorated ships of the Navy will remain open at Sadarghat in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Chandpur and Barishal for visitors from 2pm till sunset.
Bangladesh Television (BTV) was scheduled to broadcast a special programme titled ‘Special Anirban’ after its 8 pm bulletin on Sunday highlighting the significance of the day.
Bangladesh Betar will broadcast a special ‘ Special Durbar’ programme at 7:30pm on Sunday.
The national dailies will publish special supplements on the occasion.
Besides, online essay and drawing competitions will be arranged in educational institutions under the Armed Forces.
Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centre to be set up in Kishoreganj
An IT training and incubation centre named after Sheikh Kamal will be set up in Kishoreganj.
President Abdul Hamid was briefed about the various aspects of the Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center at Kishoreganj Circuit House on Thursday.
The project will be implemented by the ICT department at a cost of Tk 60 crore with the aim of building skilled manpower and creating self-employment through training in IT.

Praising the initiative to set up an IT Training and Incubation Center, President Hamid said that it would pave the way for creation of skilled manpower.
The president also emphasized on taking initiative from the very beginning to ensure that the quality of training is world class.
Members of Parliament Afzal Hossain and Rezwan Ahmed Tawfiq, Senior Secretary of ICT Department and Secretaries to the President were present on the occasion.

President to deliver speech in Parliament on Nov 24
President Abdul Hamid will deliver a memorial speech in Parliament on November 24, marking the Golden Jubilee of the country’s independence.
“A special discussion will be held in Parliament on November 24 and 25 on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence. President Md Abdul Hamid has given his kind consent to deliver a memorial speech at 3:00pm on November 24 at the invitation of Parliament,” Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury told Parliament on Thursday.

She said different programmes are being held nationally to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the great independence throughout the year. As part of the celebration, the two-day special discussion will be held in Parliament, Dr Shirin Sharmin added.
The Speaker adjourned the 15th session of Parliament till November 24 (Wednesday).
Make country’s health sector more vibrant to tackle Covid-like crisis: President
President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday said Bangladesh has done better than even some developed countries in successfully tackling the Covid-19 pandemic. In spite of the success the country still needs to build a vibrant health sector in order to tackle similar crisis in future, he said while speaking to foreign students studying President Abdul Hamid Medical College at a programme at Shilpakala Academy in Kishorganj town.

We are still in need of more skilled resources, especially specialist doctors, nursing staffs and medical technologists." he said. Hamid praised the health sector manpower, including doctors, nurses and technologists. He said Bangladesh ranked first in South Asia and 20th in the world in the 'COVID Resilience Ranking' compiled by Bloomberg news agency for successful handling of corona pandemic, economic revival and keeping the livelihoods running. "We have also managed to secure a steady supply of COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccination program is going on in a full swing and around 48 million people have already received at least first dose," he added. Urging both the medical institutions and the students not to choose the easiest path in taking medical education, the President said "Medical education is highly sensitive technical education and doctors are the people who are directly concerned with our health and lives.

"The cost of the complete course of MBBS in Bangladesh is also quite affordable as compared to other countries across the world," he added. He also said that the country is becoming one of the preferred destinations for medical students around the globe ensuring a great improvement in terms of medical education.
President's activities on day 2 of visit to home district
President Abdul Hamid on Sunday said establishment of rule of law is essential to continue the trend of development of the country.
He said this while exchanging views with eminent persons including people's representatives of Mithamoin upazila of Kishoreganj this evening.
The views-exchange meeting was held at the President Abdul Hamid Auditorium in Mithamoin upazila.
The President also emphasized the joint initiative of the administration, people's representatives and the people to establish the rule of law for the welfare of the people.
"Everyone should stay away from activities that hinder development in order for the new generation to lead a better life," he said.

During the exchange of views, the President also highlighted the development of Haor area in various fields including communication and education.
Hamid called upon all to move ahead with the attitude of service by avoiding the attitude of making extra profit to exploit the potential of tourism around Itna-Mithamoin-Ashtagram road.
He also said students should build self-reliance after completing their studies and not just look for jobs.
Earlier, a milad mahfil was held after Asr on the occasion of death anniversary of late Haji Md Tayeb Uddin, father of the President.
President Hamid took part in the milad and doa in the afternoon.
Special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of departed soul of late Haji Md Tayeb Uddin.

Besides, special prayers were also offered for the welfare of the country and the nation.
People from all walks of life in the area also attended the doa-mahfil.
In the morning, Abdul Hamid also visited the progress of construction work of under-construction Mithamoin Cantonment.
The cantonment is being constructed in a 275-acre area.
On his arrival at the cantonment area, Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed welcomed the President.
Local MP Rezwan Ahmmad Taufiq, secretaries concerned to Bangabhaban and local administration officials were also present there.
The president arrived here Friday last on a seven-day visit to oversee some ongoing development projects in his own district and exchange views with local representatives.
President asks public representatives in home district to work sincerely
President Abdul Hamid on Saturday asked the public representatives to work with more sincerity for ensuring public welfare.
"If you ( public representatives) do not take any stance against the wrongdoings in your respective areas,it will hamper your popularity. So you have to work more for ensuring public welfare," he said.
He made the remarks in a views-exchange programme with notable political, cultural persons and local administration officials in the upazila’s President Abdul Hamid Auditorium in the evening.
Hamid also urged the concerned to increase local investment to use development opportunities at the local level.

"Facilities including infrastructure should be ensured for the investors to use development opportunities," he said.
The President also asked the people to be more careful for protecting and implementing the development projects.
Saying the communication system is one of tools for development, Hamid said once haor areas were neglected for the poor communication system, but now there is a lot of discussion about the development of haor areas.
The vast expanse of water, which has turned into a hotspot for the enthusiasts, mainly the young, to spend quality time with friends and family members, has now been witnessing huge non-biodegradable waste thanks to lack of awareness among the visitors.
Hamid called upon all to protect the natural environment too.

Earlier, he visited his dream project, the all-weather road from Itna-Mithamoin-Austragram, for the first time since its inauguration.
He visited the road from Mithamain to Austagram today, stopping in different areas of the road.
President Hamid also visited the progress of the President Abdul Hamid Foundation in Mithamoin.
Alongside, the President also visited the development works of Austragram Upazila on the second day of the tour.
President Hamid on a tour of his village and home district Kishoreganj
President Abdul Hamid reached his ancestral village Kamalpur in Mithamoin Upazila of Kishoreganj district on Friday, the first day of his seven-day tour of the area to visit several development projects and exchance views with local elite.
He was flown here by a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter on his first visit to the district since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in Bangaldesh nearly two years ago.

Later, he went to new dak bungalow of the district parishad where he was given a Guard of Honour.
Also on Friday, he visited a under-constriction bridge - Gora utra in the upazila. The365-metre bridge, being built at a cost of Tk 43 crore, will connect the haors with Upazila Sadar contributing to the area's socio-economic development, President's press secretary Jaynal Abedin said.
