Coronavirus cases soar to 8,231 in Bangladesh
Two more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours till Friday, taking the death toll in the country to 170.

Coronavirus: Global death toll reaches 234,105
The global death toll from coronavirus reached 234,105 as of Friday morning.
Since it was first reported in China in December last year, coronavirus has infected 3,308,233 people globally, according to Worldometer.
Of them, 2,031,309 are currently being treated and 50,944 among them are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 1,042,819 people have recovered from COVID-19.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
Meanwhile, the USA has confirmed 63,861 deaths and 1,095,210 cases while Spain reported 24,543 deaths and 239,639 cases till Friday.
Italy, the worst-hit European country, has recorded 27,967deaths and 205,463 cases. France, on the other hand, has reported 24,376 deaths and 167,178 cases. In the UK, authorities have reported 26,771 deaths among 171,253 confirmed cases.
The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 212 countries and territories around the world.
In Bangladesh, the country has so fir confirmed 168 deaths and 7667 coronavirus cases.
Covid-19: Global cases pass 31 lakh; death toll now 2.18 lakh
The global death toll from the coronavirus has reached 217,970 as of Wednesday morning.
Besides, it has so far infected 3,138,115 people around the world after the highly infectious virus was first reported in China in December last, according to Worldometer.
Of them, 1,964,375 are currently being treated and 56,965 of them are in serious or critical condition.
Coronavirus cases reach 6,462 in Bangladesh, 3 more die
Confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh rose to 6,462 on Tuesday after the health authorities reported a record number of 549 new cases and three fatalities.
Coronavirus: NICVD doctors, nurses, staffers among 18 infected
Doctors, nurses and staffers of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) are among 18 people who were diagnosed with coronavirus recently.
“Six doctors, eight nurses, a ward master and three staffers of the hospital were infected with coronavirus,” said Dr Kajal Kumar Karmakar of NICVD’s Department of Cardiology.
Meanwhile, three wards of the state of the art institute for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases were shut until Tuesday, he added.
Dr Kajal also informed that 15 doctors and 37 nurses of the hospital were sent to home quarantine.
Expressing fear over coronavirus situation, NICVD doctors said the hospital could be shut in the next few days if this situation worsens.
Bangladesh Doctors Foundation (BDF), a forum of physicians, on Monday said 373 physicians at private and public hospitals got infected during their frontline battle against coronavirus.
Coronavirus: Global death toll 211,609
The global death toll from coronavirus reached 211,609 on Tuesday morning as countries around the world prepare to ease restrictions on movement.
According to worldometer data, 3,064,895 cases have so far been confirmed since the virus was first reported in China in December last year. So far, 922,581 people have recovered.
Of those infected, 1,930,705 are currently being treated and 56,300 of them are in serious or critical condition.
Bangladesh confirmed its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
