Ex-UP member crushed under train in Bogura
A man was crushed under the wheels of a train in Bogura Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rezaul Karim, 55, former member of Shakaria union parishad under Sadar upazila.
According to witnesses, Bonarpara-bound Karatoya Express train hit Rezaul near Knowledge Harbor School and College of the upazila around 9:30 am when he was crossing the rail tracks, leaving him dead on the spot.

It was not clear whether it was an accident or a suicide incident.
ASI Abdul Awal of Naruli police outpost of Bogura Sadar police station said that the body was recovered by railway police.
Madrasha student stabbed to death in Bogura
A 20-year-old student of a local madrasha was stabbed to death allegedly by some young men over an old enmity in Bogura's Taraf Sartaz village on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Nazim Uddin, a second-year student of Tarafsartaz Senior Fazil Madrasha and son of Farid Uddin of the village.
Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gabtoli Model Police Station, said the murder was the fallout of a previous enmity Nazim had with the assailants.

"Nazim was attacked at Darail Bazar in Gabtoli upazila around 7pm, by the accused, leaving him injured. He was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a little later," the OC said.
"Efforts are on to nab the perpetrators of the crime," he added.
Bogura road crash leaves 5 dead
Five people were killed and another was injured as a bus crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Ranirhat intersection in Sherpur upazila of Bogura on Wednesday.
However, the identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Police said the accident occurred around 5pm when the Rangpur-bound Hanif Paribahan bus hit the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving four passengers of the auto-rickshaw and its driver dead on spot.
Another passenger of the auto-rickshaw was rushed to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZMCH) in critical condition, said Aminul Islam, duty officer of Sherpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Control Room.

The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue, the official added.
Police seized the bus but the driver and his helper managed to escape the scene, he added.
2 Swechchasebak League leaders suffer bullet wound in Bogura infighting
Two leaders of Swechchasebak League suffered bullet wounds in a clash between two factions over previous enmity in Bogura town.
The injured are Nazmul Hasan Orange, 28, assistant secretary for literature and cultural affairs of Bogura District Committee of the Swechchasebak League, and Minhaj Hossain Apel, 28, ward committee leader of the party.

Police said a number of youths came at Malgram Dabtola Mor in 4-5 motorcycles and opened fire at Orange and Apel around 8pm, leaving them inured.
Later, the duo were rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.

Selim Reza, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bogura Sadar Police Station, said Orange and Apel were shot due to rivalry between two groups in Swechchasebak League.
The identities of those who opened fire have been confirmed and a drive is underway to arrest them, said the OC.
One killed, 40 injured as two commuter buses collide on Dhaka-Bogura highway
At least one person died and more than 40 others were injured in a collision between two passenger buses
on the busy Dhaka-Bogura highway in the district's Sherpur upazila early on Saturday.
The identities of the deceased and the injured could not be ascertained yet. The victims were occupants of both the buses.

Eye-witnesses told UNB that the accident occurred on the high-speed corridor in the Sherua Battala area of Shahbandegi union around 3.30am when a Dhaka-bound Surja Paribahan bus crashed into a Bogura-bound Shyamoli Paribahan bus coming the opposite direction.
The impact of the head-on collision left one person dead and some 40 others injured, and triggered a 1km-long traffic jam on both the carriageways of the highway.

AKM Baniul Anam, in-charge of Sherpur Highway police camp, said the injured were rushed to Sherpur Upazila Hospital and Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. "Both the buses have been seized and the snarls cleared," he said.
Probe body formed over Bogura factory fire
A four-member committee was formed on Wednesday to investigate the fire that killed five workers at a plastic factory at Santahar in Adamdighi upazila of Bogura district.
The committee, headed by Additional District Magistrate Salahuddin, has been asked to submit its report within seven working days.

The other members of the committee are—Adamdighi Upazila Nirbahi Officer, the representatives of the Department of Inspection for Factories and the Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defense.
Also on Wednesday the charred bodies of five workers, recovered from the factory, were handed over to the family members.

The fire occurred on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Siam, 13, Shahjahan, 24, Bijoy, 14, Belal Hossain, 43 and Abdul Khalek, 35 of the upazila.
Five burned to death in Bogura factory fire
Five workers were killed as a fire broke out in a plastic factory at Santahar in Adamdighi upazila of Bogura district on Tuesday.
The identities of the deceased could not yet be known.

Abdul Malek, assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, Bogura, said the fire broke out at BIRS Plastic Industry Limited, owned by Santahar municipality mayor Tofazzal Hossain Bhutto, around 11:30 am and it spread around soon.
On information, 13 firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 2 pm.
SSC examinee drowns in Bogura
The body of SSC examinee was recovered from the Bangali River at Sonatola in Bogura district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Ainul Islam, 16, son of Abul Hossain of Sonakania village.
Police said Ainul, a student of Boyra High School, went missing when he went to the river for taking a bath at Gurbhanga in the village around 1pm on Saturday.

On information, the divers of Rajshahi Fire Service recovered the body after 22 hours on Sunday.
Rezaul Karim Reza, officer-in-charge of Sonatala Police Station, said the body was handed over to the family.
Ward boy who removed teen's O2 mask at Bogura hospital, held
A ward boy accused of removing the oxygen mask of a teenager at a state-run hospital in Bogura district has been detained by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Dhaka.
Asadul Islam Dhulu, son of Joynuddin Mia of Gaibandha district, was nabbed by RAB sleuths from the Abdullahpur area of Dhaka early on Thursday.
Tipped off, a team of RAB-12 raided the area and detained Dhulu in the wee hours of Thursday, Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of Legal and Media Wing at RAB headquarters told reporters. "The accused has admitted his guilt during questioning."

The detention came a day after a complaint was lodged at Bogura Sadar police station in connection with the death of Bikash Chandra Das, a 17-year-old Class VIII student, at Bogura's Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZMCH).
Dhulu has been working as a daily wage cleaner at SZMCH for the past six years, and his job entails ferrying patients on stretchers from the outpatient department to other wards, according to RAB officials.
"After the death of Bikash, Dhulu initially fled to Naogaon and then came to Dhaka on his way to Chattogram. He was held in Dhaka," Commander Khandaker said.
Bikash, a road accident victim, died at SZMCH Tuesday night after Dhulu allegedly removed his oxygen mask.

Dulu had allegedly demanded Tk 200 as tip from Bikash's family members for taking him to the surgery department. As Bikash’s relatives gave him Tk 150, he got infuriated and removed the oxygen mask.
Soon after the oxygen mask was removed, Bikash developed breathing problems and died around 10.30pm, according to the police complaint.
Teen dies after ward boy removes O2 mask
An 18-year-old teenager died at Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZMCH) on Tuesday night after a ward boy allegedly removed his oxygen mask.
The deceased was identified as Bikash Chandra Das, son of Bishu Das of Sialkundi village in Gaibandha's Saghata upazila.

Selim Reza, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said that Bikash was admitted to the hospital around 7 pm on Tuesday after he sustained injuries in a road accident.
"He was, in fact, brought to the hospital from Shaghata Upazila Health Complex, where he was initially taken to," the OC said.
At SZMCH, the accused ward boy, identified as Dulu, took Bikash to the emergency ward and then to the surgery department after putting on an oxygen mask.
Dulu allegedly demanded Tk 200 as tip from Bikash's family members for taking him to the surgery department. As Bikash’s relative gave him Tk 150, Dulu got infuriated and in a fit of rage removed the oxygen mask.
Soon after the oxygen mask was removed, Bikash developed breathing problems and died around 10.30pm, according to the police complaint.

Dr Abdul Wadud, deputy director of the hospital, said, “Dulu is a part-time staff. However, a probe body has been formed to investigate the unfortunate death."
“Efforts are on to arrest Dulu, who's on the run,” said the OC.
