Man crushed under train wheels in Dhaka
A man died after falling under the wheels of a running train while trying to get it off at Dhaka Airport railway station early Tuesday.
When the 60-year-old unidentified man was trying to get off the moving train around 9 am he slipped and fell under the wheels, said Sanu Mong Marma, ASI of Dhaka Railway Police Station.
The body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy, he said.
Railway suspends 3 employees over Cumilla train collision, salvage work continues
Bangladesh Railway has suspended thee of its employees over Sunday’s collision between Sonar Bangla Express train and a freight train that left 35 people injured.
They are Abdul Quader, a guard (Chattogram division) ; Jasim Uddin, locomotive master (Dhaka headquarter); and Md Mohsin, assistant locomotive master (Dhaka headquarter).
Wahid, who was in charge of maintaining Hasanpur station signal, was also suspended.

A four-member probe body was formed which was asked to submit the report within three working days.
Meanwhile, the train movement resumed after 9 pm on Sunday after two salvage trains removed the bogies from the main lines, train examiner SM Akhtar Hossain and Station Master of Hasanpur Railway Station Mong Marma said.
Work to remove the other bogies is underway, they said.
Six bogies and the locomotive of Sonar Bangla Express train derailed on Sunday injuring at least 35 passengers and six of them are in critical condition.
Several of the injured are being treated at Nangalkot Health Complex.
Officer-in-charge of Laksham Railway Police Station Jashim Uddin said, the Dhaka bound freight train was stationed in a line on the Hasanpur station.
Dhaka- bound Sonar Bangla Express from Chattagram wrongly entered the same line and hit the rear side of the freight train at around 6:22 pm.
Advance sale of train tickets for Eid travellers starts Friday
The sale of advance train tickets will start online from Friday (April 07, 2023) for Eid holidaymakers in Bangladesh.
The commuters have to purchase their tickets online and mobile apps.
For this, the commuters have to complete their registration through rail ticketing web portal ‘Rail Sheba’ or through sending SMS from mobile by showing NID/passport/birth certificate.
Advance train tickets for April, 17, 18,19,20,21 will be available on April 7, 8,9,10, and 11 respectively while the selling of return tickets will begin from April 15.

Besides, the return tickets for April 25, 26, 27, 29, 29 and 30 will be available for April 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20.
On the occasion of Eid, the movement of ‘Mitali Express’ and ‘Maitree Express’ trains will remained suspended from April 18-27 and April 20-27 respectively.
However, the ‘Bandhan Express’ train will run as per its schedule.
There will be no stopover of Dhaka-bound Ekata, Drutojan, Panchagarh, Nilsagar, Kurigram, Lalmoni and Rangpur Express trains at Dhaka Airport Station from April 17 to the day before Eid-ul-Fitr.

New ticketing system for inter-city rail service kicks off
The new ticketing system for inter-city rail services has started today (March 01, 2023) from Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station.
“We introduced the new ticketing system for passengers to address complaints regarding ticketing,” Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan said.
He said this while handing over POS (point of sale) machines that will facilitate collecting fares through national identity (NID) card verification.
“We took this initiative to stop black marketing, and to enable customers to purchase tickets without any complication,” he said.

This new system will also enable commuters to cancel their purchase without coming to the station. Commuters will be able to cancel a purchase online from now on.
The minister also said they will introduce more facilities gradually.
“Passengers won’t be allowed to purchase tickets without registering,” he added.
The new ticketing system will be introduced in local trains gradually. Through this, legal steps will be taken against those who travel using another person’s ticket, he said, adding that the government can collect the fare directly.

Freight train carrying diesel derails in Ctg, 40,000 litres spill into nearby canal
A freight train carrying diesel derailed in Chattogram’s Halishahar area and around 40,000 litres spilled from three wagons into a nearby canal.
The derailment happened around 6pm when the train was entering Chittagong Goods Port Yard (CGPY) depot after loading diesel from depots of Padma, Megha and Jamuna in Patenga area.
Abdul Malek, a master at CGPY, said the train was supposed to go to Dhaka from Chattogram but it derailed after loading.
“Efforts are on to recover the derailed train,” he said.
A three member probe committee was formed to investigate the incident, Tarek Imran, an official at Eastern Railway Transport department, said.
According to the railway security department, every wagon can contain 38,000 to 40,000 litres of oil. Three wagons overturned within 15 to 20 minutes after they were loaded with oil when it was entering the depot.
Experts said oil spilled from the wagons into the water bodies will pose a serious threat to the aquatic ecosystem.

Youth crushed under wheels of train in Mohakhali
A youth was crushed under the wheels of a train in Mohakhali rail gate area of the capital Friday, Government Railway Police (GRP) said.
Though the identity of the victim could not be known immediately, he was aged between 20 to 25 years.
Sanu Mong, assistant sub inspector at Dhaka Railway Police Station in GRP, quoting witnesses said that the accident happened around 11.30am when the Kamalapur-bound train ‘Agnebeena’ hit him when he was crossing the train track while on his mobile phone in the rail gate area.

The impact from the accident severed his body into two parts, Mong said, adding that on information they recovered the body.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy after completing legal procedures, the ASI added.
Man stabs passengers on German train; 2 dead, 5 injured
A man fatally stabbed two people and injured five others on a train in northern Germany on Wednesday before being arrested, police said.
Germany's Federal Police force said the man used a knife to attack several passengers shortly before a regional train traveling from Kiel to Hamburg arrived at the Brokstedt station.
Police spokesman Juergen Henningsen from the nearby city of Flensburg said two of the stabbed people died after the attack. Three people were severely injured and two others suffered minor injuries. No details were given about the identity of the victims.
The attacker was also injured and taken to the hospital, police said.

Police did not provide any information on the suspect’s identity and said his possible motives were under investigation. They said they were first alerted to the incident shortly before 3 p.m. when several passengers on the train made emergency calls to police.
The interior minister of Schleswig-Holstein state, Sabine Suetterlin-Waack, voiced shock at the attack..
“It is terrible,” Suetterlin-Waack told German public broadcaster NDR. “We are shocked and horrified that something like this has happened.”
Regional police and the federal police were on the scene and the prosecutor’s office was investigating the attack, NDR reported.
The train station in Brokstedt was closed for several hours and train traffic was delayed across northern Germany.
Train operator Deutsche Bahn expressed its condolences on Wednesday evening saying that “our deepest sympathy goes to the relatives of the victims. We wish those injured a speedy and complete recovery.”
Ten people hurt in collision between locomotive and train in Nilphamari
Ten people were injured in a head-on-collision between a locomotive and a passenger train at Chilahati rail station in Domar upazila of Nilphamari district on Wednesday.
Abu Kaisar, booking assistant of Chilahati Rail Station, said the accident occurred at 8:10 am when the Khulna-bound ‘Rupsha express’ train from Chilahati hit the stationary locomotive of ‘Mitali Express’ train at the outer signal of the station on India-Dhaka route due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

Ten people including three locomotive masters of the two trains were injured, he said.
The injured were given first aid.
The train movement from Chilahati Rail Station remained suspended following the accident.
Lalmonirhat mother, daughter crushed to death by train
A 26-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter were crushed to death on rail tracks in Lalmonirhat's Patgram Friday morning, police said.
Also, the accident left her two-year-old son critically injured.
The dead were identified as Sumi Begum and her daughter Tasmira Tabassum Tasin from Dhabalsuti Rahmanpur village of Patgram.
A Burimari land port-bound train ran them over as they were crossing the Burimari-Patgram railway tracks in the Ghunti area around 10am, Omar Faruk, officer-in-charge of Patgram Police Station, said. "The mother and her daughter died on the spot."

The bodies were sent to the district's Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies, Faruk said.
Sumi's son is now undergoing treatment at the hospital, he added.
Life insurance official cushed under train in Khilgaon
An officer of a life insurance company got crushed under a speeding train in the city’s Khilgaon bagicha area on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Md Saidul Alam, 57, a junior officer of Jiban Bima Corporation. He was the son of ABM Shafiullah of Keraniganj Teghuria area of Dhaka.

The incident took place at around 1:15 pm.
He was rescued and brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the doctor on duty pronounced him dead at 2:30 PM.
Confirming the matter,15eqqgr the in-charge of DMCH police camp Inspector Md. Bachchu Mia said that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy. The incident has been reported to the railway police station.
Two pedestrians named Shahidul Islam and Siam, who brought him, said that while walking between two railway lines at that place, they fell between a train bound for Kamalapur and another train leaving from Kamalapur.

Son Asiful Alam said his father was working as a junior officer in Jiban Bima Corporation. In the morning, he left his home in Keraniganj for work. Later we got news on mobile phone and came to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to know that he died after being hit by a train.
