Lalmonirhat mother, daughter crushed to death by train
A 26-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter were crushed to death on rail tracks in Lalmonirhat's Patgram Friday morning, police said.
Also, the accident left her two-year-old son critically injured.
The dead were identified as Sumi Begum and her daughter Tasmira Tabassum Tasin from Dhabalsuti Rahmanpur village of Patgram.
A Burimari land port-bound train ran them over as they were crossing the Burimari-Patgram railway tracks in the Ghunti area around 10am, Omar Faruk, officer-in-charge of Patgram Police Station, said. "The mother and her daughter died on the spot."

The bodies were sent to the district's Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies, Faruk said.
Sumi's son is now undergoing treatment at the hospital, he added.
Life insurance official cushed under train in Khilgaon
An officer of a life insurance company got crushed under a speeding train in the city’s Khilgaon bagicha area on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Md Saidul Alam, 57, a junior officer of Jiban Bima Corporation. He was the son of ABM Shafiullah of Keraniganj Teghuria area of Dhaka.

The incident took place at around 1:15 pm.
He was rescued and brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the doctor on duty pronounced him dead at 2:30 PM.
Confirming the matter,15eqqgr the in-charge of DMCH police camp Inspector Md. Bachchu Mia said that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy. The incident has been reported to the railway police station.
Two pedestrians named Shahidul Islam and Siam, who brought him, said that while walking between two railway lines at that place, they fell between a train bound for Kamalapur and another train leaving from Kamalapur.

Son Asiful Alam said his father was working as a junior officer in Jiban Bima Corporation. In the morning, he left his home in Keraniganj for work. Later we got news on mobile phone and came to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to know that he died after being hit by a train.
Autorickshaw driver crushed under wheels of train in Sylhet
A 35-year-old CNG run-autorickshaw driver was crushed under the wheels of a train in Lalamatia area of the Sylhet city on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased—Ali Hossain, was son of Abdul Khaleq of Paschim Bilerbon village under Zakiganj upazila.
Majedul Islam, sub inspector of Government Railway Police (GRP) in Sylhet, said the accident happened around 3pm when the speeding Sylhet-bound train ‘Surma Mail’ crashed into the autorickshaw driven by Ali while it was crossing the Lalmatia Rail Line under Mogla Bazar police station, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, members of the GRP rushed to the spot and recovered the body, he said.
The body will be handed over to the victim’s family after completing the legal procedure, he added.
Train derails in Mymensingh
A Chattogram-bound train derailed in Kewatkhali of Mymensingh on Monday morning.
A wagon of Nasirabad Express train veered off the tracks around 8am, said Mymensingh GRP Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohiuddin Ahmed.

The rail communication on Mymensingh-Bhairab route was suspended due to the derailment, he said.
On information, a salvage train from Kewatkhali loco shadow was sent to the spot, he added.
Unidentified man crushed under train in Sylhet
An unidentified man got crushed under a speeding train in Sylhet on Sunday.
Locals spotted the disfigured body of the man lying at Shibbari rail crossing at South Surma area in the city in morning and informed railway police, said SM Kamal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Sylhet railway police station.

The body has been recovered and he might have been hit by Dhaka bound Kalni Express train in the morning, said the OC.
The body has been sent for an autopsy and efforts are on to know his identity, he said.
Train movement between Dhaka-Chattogram-Sylhet becomes normal after 1.5 hours
Train movements on Dhaka-Chattogram and Chattogram-Sylhet routes which were suspended due to the arrival of two trains on the same track have returned to normalcy after one and a half hours of efforts.
The incident happened on Friday at about 3:00pm when the Chattogram-bound Karnaphuli Express train and a container train reached Brahmanbaria’s Akhaura railway junction on the same rail track.
As a result, the Sylhet-bound Paharika Express train got stuck at Akhaura junction, while the Chattogram-bound Paharika express train was stranded at Azampur station.
According to sources at Akhaura railway station, the Chattogram-bound Karnaphuli Express was waiting on Platform No 1 when the Chattogram-bound No 604 container train tried to enter the station on the same track.

“I entered the train following a signal. When I saw that another train was standing in front me, I pulled the brake immediately and stopped the train,” said Abu Talha, Assistant Operator of the container train.
Khayrul Islam, the station cabin master, said that he didn’t know why the operator of the container train had crossed the signal.
“Train movement resumed after we solved the problem. Currently all the trains are arriving and leaving the station smoothly,” said Md Alif Hossain Sikder, Officer In-charge (OC) of Akhaura Railway Police Station.
Train services between Dhaka and northern Bangladesh resume after 8 hours
Train services between Dhaka and northern districts of Bangladesh resumed Wednesday morning, after remaining suspended for nearly eight hours due to the derailment of a frieght train in Gazipur a little after midnight Tuesday.
The services resumed at 8.30am after a wagon of a North Bengal-bound train that veered off the track was removed, station master of Joydevpur railway junction, Rezaul Islam, told UNB.
The wagon derailed soon after the train reached the Baj Hijltali area of Kaliakair upazila around 12.30am, halting train movement between Dhaka and northern districts, he added.
After the derailment, a rescue train from Dhaka reached the site early this morning and started the salvage operation.
"Passengers on the route suffered immensely due to the derailment as several trains, including Panchagarh Express, Nilsagar Express, got stuck at stations."
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, said the official.
University student crushed under train wheels in Natore
A 25-year-old university student was crushed under the wheels of a train in Natore as he attempted to reboard it at Abdulpur Junction station on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Nuruzzaman Entaj, son of advocate Ishaq Ali. He was a sixth semester law student of Rajshahi’s Barendra University.
According to Sheikh Ziauddin Bablu, station master of Abdulpur Junction, Entaj was travelling with his father from Pabna’s Ishwardi to Rajshahi on a Rohanpur-bound commuter train on Saturday morning.

“Entaj had disembarked from the train at Abdulpur Junction. As the train started to leave the station, Entaj tried to get inside hurriedly. His hands slipped and met with the tragedy,” said Bablu.
57-yr-old jumps before train in Natore, dies
A 57-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train in Natore Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Samir Kumar Kundu, who worked with the district health department. He also used to play football for different clubs in the district.
Kamrun Nahar, Natore railway station master, said that Samir jumped in front of the Chilahat-bound inter-city train ‘Titumir Express’ coming from Rajshahi as it was just entering the platform.

"He died on the spot," the station master said.
Local people claimed that the deceased had been suffering from depression.
Tenth-graders crushed by speeding train in Kushtia
In a tragic accident, two tenth-graders were crushed to death under the wheels of a speeding train in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Nayeem Ali, 16, and Ritu Khatun, 15, of the upazila. They were students of Border Guard Public School and College and Nimtala Secondary School of Mirpur, respectively.
The accident occurred around 3:30pm when the students were walking on the rail track on Mirpur Rail Bridge.
When Khulna-bound intercity train Rupsha Express started approaching the track suddenly, they got stuck there.

Within seconds, the train passed by at full speed and crushed them under its wheels, Monjer Ali, officer-in-charge of Poradaha Railway Police Station, said.
"Both students died on the spot. The bodies were sent to hospital for autopsies," he added.
