Marcel provides up to Tk 8,000 discounts on television
Marcel is providing up to Tk 8,000 discounts on its 24–43-inch basic LED and Android smart television sets.
The customer benefits are being given under the ‘Best TV Deal’ campaign which can be availed by buying TV sets from any Marcel showroom across the country from July 1 and will be continued until further notice, the company said in a statement.
It said a discount of Tk 8,000 is being given on 43-inch basic LED TV. Customers can now buy the TV at only Tk 27,900. Another discount of Tk 6,090 is applicable for its 43-inch Android TV and customers are getting it at Tk 32,900. A discount of Tk 5, 000 is being given on Marcel's 32-inch Basic LED and Android TVs which now cost Tk 13,900 and Tk 22,900 respectively.

Meanwhile, a discount of Tk 5,000 is applied for Marcel's 40-inch basic LED TV. Customers are getting it at Tk 25,900 while Tk 4,000 discount is available for 40-inch Android TV and it costs only Tk 28,900. The 24-inch LED TV has been priced at Tk 11,900 under the Best TV Deal campaign.

Bangladesh kicks off week-long booster dose campaign
Bangladesh on Saturday kicked off a week-long booster dose campaign, aiming to inoculate over one crore people across the country.
"The campaign began at 9am on Saturday. It will continue till June 10," said Dr Shamsul Haque, director of the Corona Vaccination Campaign of the Health Services Division.
The government has taken this initiative to cover over one crore people though nearly four crore citizens are waiting to get the booster dose, he said.
According to the Health Services Division, the booster doses will be administered in 16,181 centres across the country. Of these, 623 are permanent centres while 15,558 are temporary ones.
As many as 45,535 health workers and volunteers have been roped in for the campaign, officials said. Adults who got their second dose some four months ago are eligible for the booster shot.
Alongside the booster dose campaign, the regular activities of administering Covid jabs are on.

Bangladesh Covid situation
Bangladesh registered 29 new Covid cases in 24 hours till Friday morning, taking the country's total caseload to 1,953,592.
The country's total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,131 as no deaths were reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In May, the country reported only four Covid-linked deaths and 816 new cases while 7,356 patients recovered from the disease, according to the DGHS.
Among the four deaths during the period, one was vaccinated with single dose of a Covid vaccine while three were vaccinated with two doses.
Eid: Walton Digital Campaign Season 15 starts

Brazil's ex-president Lula launches presidential campaign
Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva launched Saturday his campaign for the presidency alongside his proposed vice president, former Sao Paulo Governor Geraldo Alckmin.
Lula announced his candidacy and unveiled the seven-party alliance Let's Go Together for Brazil Movement to a crowd of about 4,000 people here.

"It is more than urgent to restore the sovereignty of Brazil," he said during his speech at the rally, adding that if he wins the elections scheduled for Oct. 2, he will work "again on the mission to combat hunger."
Tap launches zakat campaign
Mobile financial services provider Trust Axiata Pay (Tap) has come up with an easy way to pay zakat ahead of the coming Eid-ul-Fitr to any madrasa in the country.
Customers can now pay zakat directly from their Tap accounts to a specific madrasa.
They can find the madrasas by clicking the zakat tab from their Tap accounts.

Users have to select a madrasa they want to donate their zakat to, mention the amount and send it. The madrasa's account will instantly receive the money donated by them.
Tap CEO Dewan Nazmul Hasan said: "We have initiated this zakat campaign to make the zakat donation easier for people living in any corner of the country and so that the affluent people can pay their zakat with just one click. At the same time, they can also aid any madrasa in any part of the country."

Winners of electronics brand Vision's two campaigns recently visited St Martin's Island, the only coral island in the country.

AHF Cup Hockey: Bangladesh to start campaign taking on Indonesia on Friday
Defending champions Bangladesh will start their campaign in the nine-team Men's Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Cup Hockey' 2022 taking on hosts Indonesia in one of the four opening day's match in Jakarta on Friday.
The match will kick off at 8:15 pm.

The Men's AHF Cup Hockey Tournament, also a qualifying meet of the next Asia Cup Men's Hockey, was reduced to nine teams following the withdrawal of stronger China in the last moment.
The trophy unveiling ceremony and press meet of the participating teams was held Thursday afternoon in the Indonesia capital Jakarta.
Earlier Bangladesh was put in five-team Pool B with Oman, Singapore, Iran and hosts Indonesia.
In the remaining Pool B matches, Bangladesh will face Singapore on March 14, Iran on March 15 and upper ranked Oman on March 17.
The Pool A team comprises Thailand, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
After playing each other once, the top two teams from each of the two pools will play in the semi-finals on March 19 before the final on March 20.

Huawei Technologies Bangladesh announced 19 winners of its 5G Quiz campaign this week.
The participants who answered all the questions correctly and met other requirements were selected as the winners.
The campaign began in December 2021. Participants needed to answer all the ten questions correctly and reshare all quiz posts to win.

U-19 World Cup: Bangladesh to start campaign taking on England Sunday
Holders Bangladesh will start their campaign in 16-team ICC Under-19 World Cup’ 2022 taking on England in their first match on Sunday at Warner Park in St Kitts.
The match will kick-off in the West Indies city at 7 pm (Bangladesh time).
The 16-team ICC Under-19 World Cup Cricket’2022 began on Friday with Sri Lanka and Australia making good start.
Sri Lanka (218 all out) beat Scotland (178 all out) by 40 runs in a Group D match at Georgetown while Australia (170/4) defeated hosts West Indies (169 all out) by six wickets in another Group D match at Province.

Bangladesh, which was placed in four-team Group A with England, Canada and the UAE, will play Canada on January 20 and UAE on January 22, both at Warner Park in St Kitts in their remaining group matches.
Earlier in the lone warm-up, the Young Tigers earned a convincing 155- run victory over Zimbabwe under D/L method in a rain affected match at Warner Park in St Kitts last Tuesday.
In the match, Bangladesh opened the innings first and piled up a comfortable 277 runs for all in 49.5 overs featuring 82 runs by Aich Mollah, 40 runs by Ariful Islam, 39 runs by Ripon Mondal, 36 runs by captain Rakibul Hasan and 33 runs by Mohammad Fahim.
Connor Mitchell was the most successful among the Zimbabwean bowlers grabbing four wickets conceding 30 runs while Mathew Schonken took two wickets for 48 runs.
Chasing a revised target of 256 runs, Zimbabwe were forced to fold their innings at 110 runs in 35.2 over to suffer a huge defeat.
