Covid: 19 more deaths recorded in Kushtia
Nineteen more Covid-related deaths were recorded at Kushtia General Hospital in 24 hours till Tuesday morning.
Of the deceased, 15 were confirmed Covid patients while the remaining four showed symptoms of the virus, said Md Mezbaul Alam, statistics officer at Kushtia General Hospital.

Besides, the district logged 253 fresh Covid cases in the past 24 hours after testing 675 samples during this period, he said.
The positivity rate in the district rose to 37.48% from Monday’s 33%.
Besides,182 patients with Covid symptoms are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, the official said.

So far, 13,675 people have been found infected in the district, while 535 people have died of Covid-19.

So far, 13,199 people have been infected with the virus in the district, while the death toll from Covid topped 504. On the other hand, 9,065 people have recovered from Covid to date.

Kushtia General Hospital on Friday morning reported 17 more Covid-related deaths in 24 hours amid an alarming surge in the number of new infections in the district.

Besides, 57 people have tested positive for corona in the district in the past 24 hours. "Some 177 samples were tested during the period," he said. The positivity rate currently stands at 32.20%.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 patients in the hospital has marginally decreased. A total of 235 people with Covid symptoms are currently undergoing treatment at the leading medical facility.

So far, 12,872 people have been infected with the virus in the district, while the death toll from Covid topped 471. On the other hand, 8,687 people have recovered from Covid to date.

In the past 24 hours, some 421 people have tested positive for Covid. "Some 1,262 samples were tested during the period," said Mejbaul.

The new cases have taken the infection rate to 33.36 percent in the district, he added.
So far, 12,592 people have been identified with Covid-19 infection in the district. Of them, 423 have died and 7,994 recovered in to date, officials said.
10 more die of Covid at Kushtia hospital

As many as 280 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital's 250-bed Covid unit. Of them, 219 are confirmed Covid patients, officials said.
Meanwhile, 203 more people in the district have contracted the virus. Some 735 samples have been tested for Covid in the past 24 hours. This puts the district's case positivity rate at 27.61 percent.

The new numbers took Kushtia’s Covid caseload to 11,674 on Friday, while the death toll mounted to 380. So far, 7,335 people in the district have recovered from the virus.
14 more die of Covid in Kushtia
Amid an alarming surge in Covid-19 cases in the district, authorities at Kushtia General Hospital on Thursday recorded 14 more deaths in 24 hours.

Moreover, a total of 285 patients with Covid symptoms are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
So far, 11,493 people have been infected with the virus in the district, while the death toll stands at 370. On the other hand, 7,156 people have recovered from Covid in the district to date.

Besides, the district logged as many as 220 fresh Covid cases in the past 24 hours. "A total of 792 samples were tested during the period," said Dr Momen.
The positivity rate in the district currently stands at 27.77%, which was 31.22% a day before. Besides, 280 patients with Covid symptoms are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, the official said.

Dr Taposh Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer of the hospital, said, “The number of Covid-19 patients is increasing by the day, forcing authorities to accommodate people on the floor of the corona ward. If the situation worsens further, it will be very difficult for us to handle the situation with this limited manpower.”
So far, 9,884 people have been found infected in the district, while 296 people have died of Covid-19. Some 6,275 people have recovered as of now.
Off-duty ASI held after publicly killing 3, including 'wife'
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police has been arrested after publicly shooting three people dead on Sunday, including a woman said to be his wife and her son, in Kushtia.
The shootings took place at a market in the district town's PTI Road around 11 am. The victims were identified as Asma Khatun, 34, her son Robin, 7, and bkash agent Shakil Khan, 28.

The three were rushed to Kushtia General Hospital, where they were declared dead.
ASI Soumen Kumar shot Asma, who was with her son. He then gunned down Shakil. As the child tried to run away, the off-duty ASI caught him before shooting the boy dead.
As the locals came to the rescue, Soumen threatened them by raising his weapon. Later, people began attacking him with stones and brickbats.

The gun-wielding Soumen then threw down his weapon and locals took him into custody before turning him over to the police, according to Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sabbirul Islam. "No case has been filed yet over the incident."
"ASI Soumen Kumar is from Magura and was assigned to Khulna's Fultala Police Station," he added.
Asma's brother Hasan said her sister was Soumen's second wife.

ASI Soumen went to Kushtia without any official authorisation and killed three people there, said Khulna Superintendent of Police Mahbub Hasan."The ASI was not on leave. He has been suspended and legal actions will be taken against him."
"Soumen is being questioned. During the primary interrogation, Soumen said Asma was his wife and Robin her son from her previous relationship. The ASI also said Asma was shot dead as he could not accept her extramarital affair. However, we are investigating all aspects of the situation," Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police Mostafizur Rahman said.
3 die after ‘drinking bootleg liquor’ in Kushtia
