Nursing College student commits ‘suicide’ in Barishal
A student of DWF Nursing College apparently committed suicide by hanging herself in the dormitory of the nursing college on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Lamia Akter Saima, 22, a third-year student of the college and daughter of Shajahan Molla.
Sudip Kumar Nath, a teacher at the college, said that Lamia did not go to the Sher-E Bangla Medical College and Hospital for her internship with her batchmates due to sickness. She was alone in her room.
Other inmates of the hostel found Lamia hanging from the ceiling in her room at around 8 p.m. and rushed her to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
“The reason behind the apparent suicide could not be known. We informed her family,” he said.
SI Moinul of Sher-E Bangla Medical College and Hospital Police Camp said police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue.
A police case will be filed over the unusual death, he added.
Polytechnic student commits suicide in Dhaka
A 22-year-old polytechnic student committed suicide by hanging himself in his house in Purbo Bhatara area of the capital on Thursday night, police said.
Hasibul Hasan Shanto, was son of Abul Khayer and student of Civil Engineering discipline of a private polytechnic college in the capital.
Mohammad Golam Mostafa, a sub-inspector of Bhatara Police Station, said on information they recovered the body hanging from the ceiling with a bed sheet in his room in the morning.

Later, the body was sent Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said adding that Shanto committed the suicide in between 9pm to 12am on Thursday night.
The reason behind the apparent suicide could not be known, the SI said, suspecting that the student might have faced problems from his family.
Ninth-grader ‘kills self’ in Barishal
A ninth-grader allegedly committed suicide in Kaunia Club Road area in Barishal city on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Manishankar Moon, an adopted son of Manash Kumar Roy, assistant professor of Kakardha Dalil Uddin Ahmed Degree College in Bakerganj.

He was a student of class IX of Udayan Secondary School.
Haridas Nag, Inspector (Investigation) of Kaunia police station said that Moon returned home on Tuesday and told his mother that teachers asked to cut his hair and beard and he will not be allowed to sit for the exam if he doesn’t follow their instruction..
Moon's family members also scolded him for not giving attention to his studies.
Being agitated, Moon locked the door of his room around 8:30pm and hanged himself from the grill with a rope any time at night.

Moon's family members informed cops as he did not respond despite repeated knocks on the door Wednesday morning, the officer said.
"Police broke open the room and found the body hanging from the grill next to his reading table,” said the inspector.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Student electrocuted to death while hanging Brazil flag in Kushtia
A 14-year-old madrasa boy was electrocuted while trying to tie the Brazil flag to a tree near his house on Tuesday.
"The accident occurred in Pitambar Bashi village of Panti Union of the upazila.

"Mithu Sheikh, son of Shahid Sheikh in the area," Md. Mohsin Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kumarkhali police station, said.
Mithu was a student of class nine of Dansa Mahur Ali Dakhil Madrasa.

Mithu climbed the tree to hang the Brazilian flag on the top of the betel nut tree around 1:20 pm. At that time, he got electrified and fell from the tree. Locals rescued him and took him to Kushtia General Hospital where doctors declared him dead, added the OC.
DU student dies after falling off building
A student of Dhaka University died after falling off the 10th floor of a building at Jagannath hall of the university.
Limon Kumar Roy, 20, was a student of the Institute of Education and Research(IER) of 2019-20 academic sessions of the university and hailed from Rangpur district, said in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp Bacchu Mia.
He used to live at Santosh Chandra Bhattacharya Bhaban of Jagannath hall.

Jagannath hall provost Professor Dr. Mihir Lal Saha said, “ A student named Limon fell from Santosh Chandra Bhattacharya Building at 10 am on Wednesday. Hearing the sound, some students of the hall took him to the hospital where doctors declared him dead."
However, it has not been confirmed yet whether he committed suicide or not.
Missing BUET student found dead after 3 days
The body of a Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student was fished out of the Shitalakshya River on Monday, three days after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Fardin Noor Parash, 24, son of Kazi Nuruddin Rana of Qutubpur area of Narayanganj's Fatullah, said Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Sadar Naval Police.
He was a 3rd-year student of the civil engineering department of BUET.
On November 4, Parash left home and did not return. He was also incommunicado.
Later, his father filed a general diary at Rampura Police station in this regard.
Monday afternoon, the dead body was seen floating on the river just behind a cotton mill at Siddhirganj.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body, added the OC.

IU student found dead in Meherpur
A female student of Islamic University (IU) was found dead at her parents-in-law's residence in the Kathuli Mor area of Meherpur's Gangni upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Tasnim Jahan Urmi, a fourth-year student of the folklore studies department of IU.

According to the woman's father, Tasnim got married to Ashrafuzzaman Prince more than four years ago. But her husband, a drug addict, often used to torture her.
Neighbours found Tasnim’s body hanging from the ceiling of her room around 10pm.
Later, she was taken to Gangni Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared her dead on arrival, said Abdur Razzaque, officer-in-charge of Gangni police station.
Golam Kibriya, Tasnim’s father, said that Prince’s father informed him about her death on Thursday night. "He told us that my daughter was taken to the health complex as she fell sick."

"He told us that my daughter ended her life at the medical facility. We found several injury marks on her body that proved that she was toutured to death," he said.
“The body has been sent for an autopsy," said OC Abdur. "Prince is on the run. Legal action will be taken against him if he's involved in any foul play," he added.
Student killed in city road crash
A 22-year-old female student of Titumir College was killed when a bus hit a motorbike over Jatrabari Hanif Flyover in the capital on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Sadia Afrin Urmi, a 3rd year student of the Marketing Department of the college and daughter of Rashed Mia of Mohonpur upazila in Netrakona district. The accident occurred in the afternoon when the bus hit a motorbike carrying Sadia and one of her relatives, leaving Sadia injured.

Irene Sultana, elder sister of Sadia said she along with her husband, brother-in-law Nazmul and Sadia went out for a joy riding by two motorbikes to go to 300-feet of the capital after having lunch at their Dania residence. When they got on the Hanif Flyover a bus hit the motorbike carrying Sadia and Nazmul, she said. Nazmul was slightly injured in the accident.
Natore college teacher who married student found dead
The body of college teacher Khairun Nahar, 42, who married a 22-year-old student last year, was found dead at her rented flat in Boladipara area of the district town on Sunday morning, said police.
The deceased was an assistant professor of Philosophy department of Khubjipur Mozammel Haque Degree College in Gurudaspur upazila of the district.
Her husband Mamun Hossain , a second year student Bachelor Degree of Arts (B.A. Pass Course) of Nawab Siraj-Ud-Dowla Government College, was detained.

Though they got married on December 12 last year the matter came to light on July 31 this year. The couple faced huge cyber bullying on social platform Facebook over their marriage.
Abul Kalam Azad, inspector (investigation) of Natore Sadar Police Station, said they detained Mamun for interrogation in this connection.
Meanwhile, a team of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) inspected the scene and collected samples from the flat, said he.
Mamun claimed that Khairun committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan with her scruff. Later he brought down her body by setting fire on the scruff as he found nothing to cut it off, said the inspector.
Besides, caretaker of the house Khalil told the police that Mamun came out of the house around 2:00am and returned after an hour.
He also came out of the house in the early morning and called the caretaker informing that his wife Khairun committed suicide.
Subsequently, the caretaker informed the matter to the house owner putting Mamun under lock and key in the flat, said the police officer, adding that on information, they recovered the body from the flat.
