Teen’s decomposed body found 5 days after going missing in Jhenaidah
The half-decomposed body of a 16-year-old teen on Saturday was recovered from a paddy field five days after he went missing from his home in Shailkupa upazila of the district.
The deceased was identified as Hridoy Hossain, son of Tota Mia of Jungalia village under the upazila.
Selim Akter, a member of Kacherkoul Union Parishad, said the youth left his house after an argument with his parents five days back.

Locals spotted the body in the paddy field in the morning and subsequently informed the law enforcers.
Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shailkupa police station, said they sent the body to Sadar Hospital for autopsy after recovering from the field.
The youth might have been killed but a concrete reason will be known after the postmortem, the OC added.
Cop's wife found dead in Khulna, suicide suspected
A constable's wife was found dead in their house at Jogipole in Khulna district town on Friday night.
Police suspect Mahmuda Khatun Tumpa, 30, wife of Shakil Ahmed, the constable posted in Khulna court, died by suicide. The couple lived with their two children.
Kamal Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge of Khanjahan Ali Police Station, said that Shakil was the first to spot his wife's body hanging from the ceiling of their bedroom.
"After finishing his duty around 9.30 pm, Shakil returned home but he found the bedroom of their house locked from inside," he said.
"Getting no response from his wife from inside, Shakil told us that he broke open the door and found Mahmuda hanging from the ceiling," he said.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the local hospital morgue for an autopsy. "We are waiting for the autopsy report," the OC said.
Karatoya trawler tragedy: Death toll rises to 25
The death toll from the trawler capsize in the River Karatoya rose to 25 on Sunday with the recovery of one more body from the river, police said.
Fifteen bodies were recovered earlier in the day after the engine-run trawler packed with 60-70 passengers capsized in Karatoya in Boda upazila. Eight children and 12 women were among the dead.
As the search for the missing continued, divers from the fire service and local people fished out nine more bodies from the river around 3:30pm, SM Sirajul Huda, superintendent of Panchagarh Police, said.
The identities of the deceased could not immediately be confirmed. Of the 24 victims, 22 were Hindus.
Police suspect that at least 10 people remain missing from the trawler capsize. The search for the missing was underway. Many swam to safety.
The trawler carrying 60-70 passengers, including women and children, sank in the middle of the river while heading towards Badheshwar Temple on the occasion of Mayalaya around 2:30pm, Sirajul said.
Divers from three firefighting units were conducting rescue operations till the filing of this report around 8pm.
Zahurul Islam, deputy commissioner, said Tk1 lakh will be given to the families of the deceased and Tk20,000 will be provided for cremation.
Tea seller’s beheaded body found in Satkhira
Police recovered the beheaded body of a tea seller from a water body at Bakchara in Satkhira district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Yeasin Ali, 31 of Sultanpur village in Satkhira district.
Lokman Hossain, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station, said local people spotted the body near Satkhira bypass road and informed police who late recovered it around 8:30 am.
A pair of shoes was also found on the spot.
Police suspected that miscreants might have killed him in another place and dumped the body in the water body.

“Police started its investigation to unearth the motive behind the killing,” said superintendent of Satkhira Police Kazi Maniruzzaman.
Missing college student's body found in Pangasia canal
The body of a college student who went missing Monday after falling from a launch in the Pangasia canal, was fished out Tuesday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Niloy, 18, a Class 11 student of Gajaria Government College and son of Dr Md Ali from Hoglakandi village.
His body was recovered around 10am from the Pangasia canal, a distributary channel of the Meghna river in the district's Gajaria upazila, by divers from Narayanganj fire service, said Rifat Mallik, station officer of Gajaria fire service.

Md Rais Uddin, officer-in-charge of Gajaria police station, said, "Niloy and his friends were returning home from a picnic on the launch, ML Hasib, on Monday when the tragedy occurred."
"Niloy tried to remove a hanging live electric wire and was electrocuted. He fell in the river in the impact of the jolt and drowned," the officer said.

Seven of his friends -- Rifat, Minhaz, Faysal Pradhan, Rabbi Shakill, Nahid and Sharif -- also sustained injuries in the incident, and are being treated at a hospital, said the OC.
8-yr old’s body recovered from ditch in Narayanganj; brother, sister-in-law held
Police recovered the body of an eight-year old girl in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj on Thursday, three days after she went missing.
The deceased was identified as Humayra, daughter of Dulal Mia from Pirojepur union and a student of class one.
The body was recovered in the morning from a ditch at Noagaon after being informed by locals , said Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Sonargaon police station.

“The girl’s body might have been dumped in the ditch after murder,” he said.
Humayra’s brother Sajib, and his wife Boishakhi were detained, he said.
Humayra’s father Dulal Mia said, “Humayra went out with her brother and sister-in-law on Monday morning and since then she remained missing. Later we filed a general diary at Sonargaon police station in this regard.”

Md Amir Khashru, Superintendent of Narayanganj police (crime) said the girl might have been killed over a family feud.
The body has been sent for an autopsy and a case will be filed in this regard, he added.
Indigenous man’s body recovered from Rangamati
Police have recovered the body of an indigenous man from Rangamati's Rajsthali upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Abhishek Chakma (35).
According to local sources, there was a gunfight between two armed activists of Marma National Party (Mog Party) and Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samiti (JSS) at Ogaripara of Gaindya union under Rajsthali upazila on Friday night.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajasthan Police Station Zakir Hossain said that the gunfight occurred in a remote hilly area 6 km off the upazila headquarters on Friday night.
The body of Abhishek, wearing olive-colored uniform, was recovered Saturday morning.

The body was sent to Rangamati General Hospital for an autopsy, he said.
Woman found dead in city
The body of a 24-year old woman was recovered from the road in front of Taltala Market in the city’s Khilgaon area on Thursday, said police.
The deceased was identified as Nargis.

She was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 6 am by some local teenage boys where doctors announced her dead.
The body has been sent for autopsy and the boys who rescued her will be questioned at the DMCH police outpost, said inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.

25-yr-old woman found dead at Ctg hotel
A 25-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit in a hotel room in the Agrabad area of Chattogram port city, police said on Friday.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established, according to officials.
Mostafizur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of Halishohor Police Station, said the woman checked into the hotel along with a man on Thursday afternoon.
"The two had identified themselves as husband and wife. Around 5.30 pm, the man left the hotel," he said.
Cops broke open the door of the hotel room after its staff alerted them around 11.30 pm after getting no response from inside.

Later, police recovered the body of the woman. "The body had multiple injury marks. Efforts are on to nab the man," the OC said.
CU student’s hanging body recovered
Police on Monday recovered the hanging body of a Chattogram University (CU) student from a cottage(privately owned) near the campus.
The deceased was identified as Anik Chakma, a student of Marine Science and Fisheries department’s 2018-19 session and a resident of Rangamati district.
His body was recovered around 1 pm from room-212 of S Alam cottage located on the opposite side of Shahjalal Hall, said Md Kabir Hossain, in-charge of university’s police outpost.

According to some CU students, Anik was alone in the room on Sunday night as none of his roommates were staying there.
Upon getting no response from him till 11 am on Monday the students informed police and they recovered his body hanging from the ceiling fan.
Abu Tayeb, head of CU Medical Center said Anik might have killed himself at night.
