Khulna division sees 40 new Covid deaths
As many as 40 people have died of Covid-19 in different districts of Khulna division in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Thursday.
According to the health director's office, 12 people died in Kushtia, 10 in Khulna, eight in Meherpur, four each in Magura, and three each in Jhenaidah and Jashore districts.

Besides, 213 people tested positive for Covid-19 during the period, according to the divisional health department.
On July 10, the division logged a record number of 71 Covid deaths. The total death toll in the division has now crossed 2,063, said the health officials.

Some 85,174 cases have been detected in 10 districts of the division since the onset of Covid, of which 58,135 patients have recovered so far.
In Khulna division, the first case of Covid-19 was detected in Chuadanga on March 19, 2020.

As many as 43 people have died of Covid-19 in different districts of Khulna division in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Tuesday.
According to the health director's office, 10 people died in Kushtia, nine in Khulna, eight in Jashore, four each in Narail, Chuadanga and Meherpur, two in Jhenaidah, one each in Bagerhat and Magura district.

Besides, 1,394 people tested positive for Covid-19 during the period, according to the divisional health department.
On July 10, the division logged a record number 71 Covid deaths. The total death toll in the division has now crossed 1,990, said the health officials.

Some 83,980 cases have been detected in 10 districts of the division since the onset of Covid, of which 56,354 patients have recovered so far.

According to the health director's office, another 1,165 people tested positive during the period.

Of the recent deaths, 14 were recorded in Kushtia, 12 in Khulna, 11 in Jessore,5 in Meherpur, 3 in Jhenaidah, 2 each in Bagerhat, Magura and Narail and 1 in Satkhira.
Khulna has emerged as one of the hotspots of coronavirus in June and July as the number of cases and deaths has been increasing every day.

With the fresh numbers, the total death toll in the division has crossed 1,947, said the health officials.
Some 82,586 cases have been detected in 10 districts of the division since the onset of Covid, of which 54,405 patients have recovered so far.

With the fresh numbers, the total death toll in the division has crossed 1,895, said the health officials.
Some 81,421 cases have been detected in 10 districts of the division since the onset of Covid, of which 53,323 patients have recovered so far.

According to the health director's office, 11 people have died in Kushtia district, nine in Khulna, five in Jessore, two in Meherpur and one each in Chuadanga and Satkhira districts.

As the Covid-19 cases and deaths keep rising in Khulna, health authorities recorded 20 deaths in the division in 24 hours on Thursday.
During this period, 917 people were infected with the deadly virus, said Rasheda Sultana, director (health) of Khulna division.
According to the health authorities, seven people died in Kushita, five in Jashore, three in Jhenaidah, two each in Chuadanga and Satkhira and one in Meherpur district.

Situation in Bangladesh
Health authorities logged 5,727 more Covid-19 cases with a positivity rate of 20.27% in 24 hours until Wednesday morning as Bangladesh is witnessing the 2nd wave of the deadly virus.
The positivity rate in the country rose to 20.27% from Tuesday’s 19.36%, according to a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Besides, the virus claimed the lives of 85 more people during the 24-hour period, bringing the national tally to 13,787.

The fresh cases pushed up the total caseload to 8,66,877, the handout added.
However, the mortality rate remained static at 1.59%.
Covid-19 in Bangladesh: Daily cases cross 2,500-mark; 36 more die
As the Covid-19 situation started worsening again, Bangladesh recorded 2,537 new cases in 24 hours until Wednesday morning, taking the total caseload to 8,17,819.
The virus claimed 36 more lives during the period that pushed up the number of fatalities to 12,949, said a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The number of infections and deaths is on the rise in different frontier districts amid fear expressed by experts that these districts will face a serious healthcare crisis as their hospitals are not equipped enough to face any worsening situation.
Health authorities detected the new cases after testing 20,584 samples during the period.
The daily infection rate increased to 12. 33 percent from Tuesday’s 12.12 percent while the mortality rate remained static at 1.58 percent.

So far, 7,57,569 people have recovered from the disease with 2,267 new ones.
Among the deceased, the highest 10 people died in Khulna division.
The deadly virus claimed nine lives in Rajshahi division, six in Dhaka, six in Chattogram, six in Khulna, four in Rangpur and one in Sylhet divisions.
Among these deaths, 17 were men and 19 women.

Of the deceased, one belonged to the age group of 21-30 years old, two between 31-40 years old, four between 41-50, eight between 51-60, and 21 were above 60 years’ old.
According to the DGHS handout, Khulna is the hardest hit district in Bangladesh in terms of fatality as 10 people died in the division in 24 hours.
So far, 295 people have died of Covid-related complications at Khulna Corona Dedicated Hospital, according to an official.
Besides, authorities have recorded 81 new cases on Tuesday, after testing 279 samples, reports UNB’s Khulna correspondent.
Of the new cases, 39 people are from Khulna, 26 from Bagerhat, two each from Jashore and Pirojpur, and one each from Gopalganj and Jhenidah districts, officials said.

Dr Suhash Ranjan Haldar, Resident Medical Officer of Khulna Medical College, said 129 people are currently undergoing treatment at its dedicated Covid facility.
Of them, 63 have been kept in the red zone, 28 in the yellow zone, 20 in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 19 in the high dependency unit (HDU).
NCL: Tushar, Zakir continue to shine with bat
Veteran batsman Tushar Imran of Khulna Division, Zakir Hasan of Sylhet Division and Pinak Ghose of Chattogram Division hit First-class centuries on Monday, the day one of the second round of the Bangabandhu National Cricket League (NCL).
It was Zakir’s second century of the season.
Sohag Gazi of Barishal Divison and Mukidul Islam of Rangpur Division bagged six wickets each on Monday as well.
In the first round of the games, Khulna and Dhaka divisions won their first Tier-one games while Dhaka Metro and Chattogram won their Tier-two games.
