Kurigram Jubo Dal leader arrested in sabotage case
Police arrested a local BNP leader from Kurigram Municipality on Friday in a case filed over sabotage.
Md Nur Khaleque Moyna, co-organizing secretary of Kurigram District unit Jubo Dal, was arrested from Zia Bazar area of the municipality, Masudur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kurigram Sadar Police Station, confirmed.

Two policemen have been arrested from Dhaka’s Sher-e-Banglanagar area in the capital on charges of extortion and kidnapping.
The arrestees are sub-inspectors Tuhin Kazi and Moshiur Rahman Taposh. Both were posted at Mirpur Shah Ali Police Station in the capital.

“Panna, who threw the crude bombs, went to the rooftop of the NBR building with a red-and-white shopping bag in his hand and left the building empty-handed after the explosion. Panna's identity was confirmed by analysing CCTV footage collected from various roads near the NBR building,” said Additional Commissioner Muhid.

During primary interrogation, Panna and Shafiqul confessed to their involvement in the crude bomb blasts at the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner's office and four other places in the capital's Ramna and Motijheel areas.

The Detective Branch of Police has arrested 15 people including a Chinese national for operating loan scams through social media.
The mastermind behind this operation is identified as Zhang Ji Zhang, a 60-year-old Chinese national.

Subsequently, the scammers used the information to blackmail individuals and extort money, sometimes resorting to creating false images and videos, said the police official.

Harun also said more than 60 people have committed suicide due to harassment in various ways by taking loans from these apps in the neighbouring country. It is not known whether anyone has committed suicide in Bangladesh. The DB chief suggested that if anyone is duped by this gang, the victim should file a case.
He added that there are many others involved in this racket. They went into hiding. DB’s drive to bring them under the law is underway.
20 BNP men arrested in Chattogram
Police on Thursday arrested at least 20 BNP leaders and activists in Chattogram during a nationwide 48-hour blockade called by the BNP and other like-minded opposition parties.

A 27-year-old mother has been arrested for allegedly killing her 12-day-old twins by throwing them into a well in Jashore’s Keshabpur upazila.
The incident took place on Tuesday night following a family dispute near the new mosque in Sahapara area of Keshabpur, police said.
