Bangladesh reports another Covid death, 258 cases in 24 hrs
The country reported another Covid-linked death and 258 cases in 24 hours till Thursday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the new numbers, the country's total fatalities rose to 29,320 while the caseload to 2,010,748, it added.

The daily case test positivity rate rose to 4.38 per cent from Wednesday’s 3.89 per as 5,894 samples were tested.
The deceased was a woman from Chattogram division.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 percent. The recovery rate remained static at 97.22 percent.

In July, the country reported 142 Covid-linked deaths and 31,422 cases, the highest monthly death toll and caseload since March this year.

Global Covid cases top 601 million
The overall number of Covid cases has now surged past 601 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 601,561,186 and the death toll reached 6,473,780 on Tuesday morning.
The US has recorded 95,449,606 cases so far and 1,066,082 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
India's daily Covid-19 caseload Monday slipped to 6,483, taking the total tally to 44,355,443 in the country, according to the federal health ministry data.

The cases reported on Monday marked a decrease in comparison to the daily caseload of Sunday's -- 11,539.
The country also logged 36 related deaths in 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 527,368 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.

The daily case test positivity rate decreased to 3.15 percent from Sunday’s 3.76 percent as 5,656 samples were tested.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 percent. The recovery rate rose to 97.21 percent from Sunday's 97.20 percent.

Bangladesh recorded another Covid-linked death with 214 fresh cases in 24 hours till Thursday morning.
With the latest numbers, the total fatalities reached 29,310 while the caseload 2,008,282, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case positivity rate declined to 4.45 per cent from Wednesday's 5.09 per cent as 4,806 samples were tested.

The deceased was a man from Sylhet division.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 percent. The recovery rate rose to 07.10 per cent from Wednesday's 97.09 per cent.
In July, Bangladesh reported 142 Covid-linked deaths and 31,422 cases, the highest death toll and cases in the last five months since March this year, according to DGHS.
Among the deceased, 57 were unvaccinated while seven received the first dose, 52 the second dose and 26 the third dose, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Besides, 34,901 patients recovered from the disease during this period.

The daily case positivity rate slightly increased to 5.56 per cent from Friday's 5.06 percent as 3,959 samples were tested.

The deceased included a man and a woman. They were from Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.

From Dec, only Covid booster dose will be available in Bangladesh
A wake-up call for those who are yet to receive their first or second Covid shots -- from December, only the booster dose will be administered in Bangladesh.
“The first or the second dose of Covid vaccines will not be available in Bangladesh after November, as by then the existing stock will expire. Also, the possibility of purchasing more vaccines is little," Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the vaccine management committee of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) told UNB.

“From August, we will start the campaign to vaccinate children aged between five and 11 years against Covid-19,” he added.
The high-ranking DGHS official said the booster dose campaign would continue across the country, "but people are still showing reluctance to get vaccinated".
According to the directorate, a significant number of people, 70 percent, who have died of Covid so far in the country were not vaccinated against the disease.

With the latest figures, the country's total fatalities reached 29,266 while the caseload to 2,001,775, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The deceased included three men and a woman.
Two of them were from Dhaka while one each from Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions.
The daily case positivity rate dropped to 7.04 per cent from Saturday’s 10.10 per cent as 6,114 samples were tested.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 per cent. The recovery rate rose to 96.71 per cent from Saturday's 96.67 per cent.
