Fed Cup Football: Mohammedan emerge group champions
Dhaka Mohammedan SC played to a 1-1 draw with newcomers Swadhinata KS in their first match of the Bashundhara Group Federation Cup Football ’21 on Monday.
Captain Souleymane Diabate put the black and white Mohammedan SC ahead in the 39th minute (1-0) at Bir Shreshta Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Kamalapur here.
But, their joy for lead did not last long as Nedo Turkovic of Bosnia & Herzegovina restored the parity for Swadhina KS in the following minute (1-1).
Later, in the group deciding play-off match, Dhaka Mohammedan SC emerged group champions beating Swadhinata KC by 4-3 goals in the tiebreaker on Monday evening.

The tournament was supposed to start on Saturday but it could not be rolled out as per the schedule as two participating teams–holders Bashundhara Kings and Uttar Baridhara Club—failed to turn up in the field against Swadhinata KS and Dhaka Abahani Ltd respectively.
However, the tournament kicked off on Sunday with Saif Sporting Club playing 1-1 draw with Bangladesh Police FC in the match at the same venue.
Meanwhile, the BFF disciplinary committee in its meeting on Monday took punitive action against Bashundhara Kings and Uttar Baridhara Club for the incident.
The disciplinary committee banned Bashundhara Kings and Uttar Baridhara Club for the next edition of Federation Cup Football and also imposed a fine of Tk five lakh each against two teams, which will be deposited to the BFF office by January 27 next year.

Besides, Swadhinata KS declared winner by 3-0 goals against Bashundhara Kings and Dhaka Abahani Ltd declared winners, also by 3-0 goals, against Uttara Baridhara Club.
Earlier, BPL champions Bashundhara Kings were absent for their match mentioning below standard condition of Kamalapur Stadium for professional football and what they see as “bad intension” behind late change in the fixture.
Earlier, three premier division clubs – Bashundhara Kings, Muktijoddha Sngsad KC and Uttara Baridhara Club –informed the BFF in writing that they would not play the Federation Cup in the unplayable conditions at Kamalpur Stadium.
After Saturday’s incident, BFF Senior VP and Chairman of the professional league committee Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP said the Federation Cup Football will go ahead with the teams willing to participate and the fate of first day’s two ill-fated matches will be decided as per rules.
Premier Hockey: Mohammedan thrash Victoria 10-2
Holders Dhaka Mohammedan SC maintained their perfect winning streak in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League crushing Victoria Sporting Club by 10-2 goals at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium here on Monday.
They dominated by 3-1 goals in the first quarter, 5-1 in the 2nd quarter and 6-2 in the 3rd quarter and made it 10-2 scoring four goals in the 4th and final quarter.

Ashraful Islam struck four goals, all from penalty corners, Razib Das scored two field goals while Sunil Sowmarpet, Mainul Islam Koushik, Rasel Mahmud Jimmy and Sarowar Hossain scored one goal each for the traditional black and whites Mohammedans.
Saif Khan scored both the goals for the Motjheel outfit Victoria SC.
In the day’s other match Bangladesh Police SC came from behind to beat Wari Club by 3-1 goals at the same venue Monday afternoon.

Mehdi Hasan put Wari Club ahead in the 18th minute, but Nahid Chowdhury Labu, Ripon Kumar and Abdul Malek scored three consecutive goals for the Police SC in the 27th, 44th and 50th minutes respectively to win the match.
Premier Hockey: Mohammedan SC earns 5th consecutive win
Defending champions Dhaka Mohammedan SC earned the 5th consecutive victory in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League outplaying Bangladesh Sporting Club by 6-0 goals at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Sunday.

Razib struck twice while Jimy, Sunil, Prince and Nasir scored one goal each for the traditional black and whites, which earlier beat Dilkusha SC, Azad SC, Police SC and Sadharan Bima KS.
In the day’s other match, former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited beat Wari Club by 3-0 goals at the same venue.

Pakistani player Alim Billal struck twice and Pushkar Kisha Mimo scored one for the popular Dhanmondi outfit Abahani.
After the day’s matches, all the three title aspirants –Mohammedan SC, Abahani Limited and Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club—maintained their winning run in the league.
Mohammedan clinch a consolation win to end Dhaka League
Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club in the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League by 25 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
In the rain-hit game, which was reduced to 13-over a side, Mohammedan batted first and posted 103 runs for five in 13 overs, with Parvez Hossain Emon hitting the highest of 26.

For Prime Doleshwar, Enamul Haque junior bagged two wickets.
Under the DLS Method, Prime Doleshwar needed to score 107 in 13 overs to seal the game. But they only managed to score 81 for all wickets and lost the game by 25 runs.
For Mohammedan, Ruyel Miah bagged five wickets conceding 21 runs in 2.4 overs, his best bowling figures in T20s.
It was the only win for Mohammedan in the Super League stage of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League, which is all set to end on Saturday.
In the initial part of the league, Mohammedan won six matches out of 11. They had marched to the Super League as the fifth out of six teams.
Shakib Al Hasan led Mohammedan in most part of the initial part of the league. But before the Super League takes place, Shakib went on a leave. Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury, the all-rounder, led Mohammedan later.

Parvez Hossain, the left-handed top-order batsman, scored 330 runs, most by any Mohammedan batsman, from 14 matches with one fifty, while Asif Hasan and Abu Jayed were the best bowlers for this team taking 12 wickets each.
DPL Super League: Abahani overpower Mohammedan
Abahani beat Mohammedan by 60 runs Sunday in their first match of the Super League of the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League.
Mohammedan won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Abahani – asked to bat first – scored 193/7 in 20 overs as captain Mushfiqur Rahim hit 57 off 32 balls with eight fours and one six; and Munim Shahriar posted 43 off 27 balls with five fours and two sixes.
Also, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mohammad Naim scored 27 and 24; Mosaddek Hossain came to bat at number seven and posted 14 off seven balls.

In the last five overs of their innings, Abahani scored 61 runs, which eventually helped them seal the game.
Ruyel Miah was the most successful bowler for Mohammedan, who took three wickets conceding 19 runs in four overs. Asif Hasan also scalped three wickets but he conceded 47 runs in four overs.
Chasing 194, Mohammedan suffered a batting collapse in the first over when they lost two wickets to Mohammad Saifuddin. In the sixth over, the last over of the powerplay, they lost two more wickets to Mosaddek Hossain. In the very next over, Mohammedan lost two more wickets.

At the halfway stage of their innings, Mohammedan were struggling at 49 for six. Four of Mohammedan's recognised batsmen were dismissed for a duck.
They could not make up for the early loss of wickets and lost the game by a big margin. However, Abu Hider Rony hit a fifty and remained unbeaten on 53 off 42 balls with five fours and two sixes.
For Abahani, Saifuddin and Mosaddek bagged two wickets each while Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Arafat Sunny took one wicket each.
