OC among 30 injured in Feni clashes
Thirty people, including the officer-in-charge of Feni Sadar Model Police Station, have been injured in sporadic clashes between police and local people on Trunk Road in Feni town.
Police said the Central Puja Udjapon Parishad took preparations to bring out a procession protesting the recent incidents of vandalizing puja mandaps around 4 am on Saturday.
As part of their scheduled programme, the leaders and activists of the parishad thronged in front of Joykali temple on Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
Some youths standing in front of the Boro Mosque, hurled brick chips targeting the Hindu devotees, leading to a chase-and counter-chase.
On information, a team of police, led by Nizam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station, rushed to the spot.
The clash spread to Boro Bazar, Boro Mosque, Central High School, Takia road and kitchen market areas of the district town, leaving 30 people, including OC Nizam Uddin injured.
A human-hauler was set on fire during the clashes.
Khandaker Nurunnabi, superintendent of Feni Police, said police lobbed teargas shells to bring the situation under control.
The clashes which started around 5 pm continued till 11 pm.
Thirty shops were vandalized during the clashes while some shops were looted.
However, the situation was brought under control after 11 pm, said Monir Hossain, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Feni Model Police Station.
Quran desecration: Protesters clash with police in Baitul Mukarram area
Several people were injured in a clash as Muslim devotees clashed with police in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque area in the capital after Jum’a prayers on Friday.
The trouble began as the devotees brought out a procession in protest against the desecration of the Holy Quran in Cumilla.

Witnesses said a large number of devotees came out from the national mosque after the Jum’a prayers chanting slogans against desecration of the Holy Quran.
Mob beats 2 women suspected of gold chain snatching, one dies: Police
A mob lynched a woman and injured another on suspicion that they were snatchers, police said on Monday.
The mob attack on the women occurred on Sunday at Boro Balmantachar in Nawabganj upazila in Dhaka, according to police.
The dead had been identified as Runa Akter, 45, wife of Purok Mia of Nasirbag in Brahmanbaria district.
The second woman identified as Popy, 20 was undergoing treatment at the upazila health complex.

The two women snatched a gold chain from Zahura Begum, a resident of Boro Balmantarchar village, as she was waiting in a queue for taking Covid jabs at a local centre on Sunday afternoon, said Sirajul Islam Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Nawabganj Police Station,
Zahura’s husband Hazrat Ali caught the two women with the help of local people.
The two females were taken to the house of Zuhra, where they were mercilessly beaten, also joined by local people.

Runa was declared dead by doctors after the badly mauled women were taken to a local hospital. Her body was sent to Mitford hospital on Monday for post-mortem.
Police arrested Zuhra while her husband Hazrat Ali escaped.
The OC said legal action will be taken against those involved in the mob-beating.
E-orange customers stage protests, police charge baton
Aggrieved E-orange customers staged demonstrations in the capital and tried to block a road near Matsya Bhaban, prompting the police to charge baton on them.
The customers staged the protests seeking their money back and the repatriation of the mastermind of fraudulent police inspector Sohel Rana.
Witnesses said the cheated customers of E-orange, an e-commerce platform, formed a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club at noon.
When they tried to put barricades on the road near Matsya Bhaban around 1:30 pm, police charged baton and dispersed them.
Police detained three people from the spot for interrogation, Sazzadur Rahman, DMP Ramna Division deputy commissioner, told UNB.
“Thursday is the last working day of the week and there was huge pressure of vehicles on roads, so we didn’t let them block road,” he said.
During demonstrations, the protesters said as E-orange is a sister concern of Orange Bangladesh then it must bear its responsibility.

They also demanded the trial of all the cases related to E-orange in speedy trial tribunal and rejection of bail pleas of all the accused until the issue is settled.
A Dhaka court on September 2 sent the owner of virtual outlet e-orange Sonia Mehzabin, her husband Masukur Rahman and Aman Ullah, Chief Operating Officer of E-orange, to jail in a fraud case filed over the embezzlement of Tk 1,100 crore from consumers.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah passed the order rejecting their bail petition when they were produced before it on completion of their 5-day remand.
Earlier on August 23, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan placed the accused on a 5-day remand in the fraud case.
On August 17, the court sent them to jail rejecting their bail prayers when they surrendered to Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abubakar Siddique's court.

On August 16, an aggrieved customer of E-Orange Md Taherul Islam filed a fraud case with Gulshan police station in presence of 37 other customers who testified against the accused.
4 police stations get new OCs
Four police stations of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have got new officers-in-charge (OCs).
An official order in this regard, signed by DMP Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam was issued Sunday.
Inspector Utpal Barua was posted as OC of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station and Inspector MM Murshed of the logistics department as the OC of Lalbagh Police Station.

Kadamtali Police Station OC Inspector Md Jamal Uddin Mir was transferred to Mugda Police Station. He was replaced by Inspector Proloy Kumar Saha, the OC of Mugda Police Station.
Inspector Jane Alam Munshi, the OC of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, was posted to the logistics department.

The OC of Lalbagh Police Station Inspector KM Ashraf Uddin was transferred to Detective Branch's Mirpur Division.
HC bans police sub-inspector from investigating any case
The High Court on Monday ordered that Bagura Sub-Inspector Nayan Kumar is barred from investigating any case as he falsely implicated a 12-year-old child in the murder of his brother in Sariakandi in 2015.
The order will remain effective until disposal of the murder case.
A bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Md Atwar Rahman passed the order during a hearing and said it will remain in force until the petition to review the accuracy and legality of the case is pending with the court.
The court also asked incumbent investigation officer of the case Natore CID Inspector Md Mansur Ali to submit medical report, recorded statement under section 164 of penal code and photocopy of the court order within September 27.

Advocate Shishir Monir presented the petitioner's side during the hearing while Deputy Attorney General Md Sarwar Hossain Bappy stood for the state.
On June 11, five Supreme Court lawyers filed a writ petition at the High Court challenging the juvenile court’s actions in this case attaching a news report on the issue.
Following the appeal, the court ordered first investigation officer of the case SI Nayan Kumar and current investigation officer Md Mansur Ali to be present before the court with the case documents.
On August 22, both the officers appeared before court and SI Nayan submitted an application seeking apologies for his mistake in the investigation.
The court then set the date of next hearing on the petition on September 6 Monday when the court observed that “What IS Nayan did was a crime, it was not a mistake out of negligence.”
On August 25, 2015, following the death of his eight-year old son Mahidul Islam filed a case with the Sariakandi police station.

On November 29, police took Mahidul’s 12-year old son to the police station for questioning and he was produced before Bagura Senior Judicial Magistrate’s court the next day.
Petitioner’s elder son in court confessed he killed his younger brother out of jealousy and the court granted him bail as he was a minor.
But as a suspect the child had to appear before court during the every following hearing on the case.
Later SI Nayan submitted charge sheet of the murder case showing the 12-year brother as the main accused.
The case was transferred to Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in 2017 when Mahidul Islam gave no-confidence petition in the charge sheet.
After four years, the PBI declared the child innocent and arrested two other people as accused.
Current Investigation Officer of the case Mansur Ali then exempted the child from the charge and filed a new charge sheet against the two arrestees.
All police personnel to get rank-based training by next year: IGP
All police personnel will be trained on the basis of their ranks by next year in order to boost their skills, the country’s police chief said on Sunday.
Inspector General of Police Dr Benazir Ahmed said this while inaugurating a 'rank-based' training program for all members of the police at the Hall of Integrity at the Police Headquarters on Sunday.
He said the training programme has been undertaken at the instruction of the prime minister.
Following the PM’s order training has been organized at least once a year for every police member from constable to additional IG of Bangladesh Police. This will further enhance the skills of police personnel in various fields, the IGP said.

“This year we have arranged for the training of 60,000 police personnel. Next year, training will be organized for each of the 2 lakh 12 thousand police members,” he said.
Dr Benazir Ahmed said there would be separate training courses, modules and trainers for police personnel of each rank. All police personnel from constables to additional IGs will participate in the training, he said.
He said this 'rank based' training would be a milestone in building a police force suitable for a modern and developed country by 2041.

Additional IG (HRM) Md. Mazharul Islam gave a welcome speech on the occasion. Additional IGs, heads of various police units in Dhaka and senior police officers were present on the occasion. The heads of all the police units were connected in the virtual ceremony.
Cop commits suicide in Rangamati
A police constable apparently committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at Maniknagar in Sadar upazila on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Joy Dey, son of Ranjit Dey of Chattogram district.

Quoting other police members, Mir Modasser Hossain, superintendent of Rangmati police, said Joy was attracted to a girl and used to quarrel with her over phone.
Joy took his own life by hanging himself from a tree at the Arshinagar Police camp as the girl refused his proposal, Modasser said.

An unnatural death case will be filed in this connection.
BNP activists clash with police at Chandrima Udyan
BNP activists clashed with police in front of Chandrima Udyan in the city on Tuesday while visiting Ziaur Rahman's grave after the formation of new city committees.
The clash broke out around 10:30 am when the newly-formed convening committees of BNP's Dhaka city north and south units went to place wreaths at the grave of the party's founder Ziaur Rahman.

The new committees went to Chandrima Udyan to place wreaths at Zia's grave at 11 am on Tuesday.
Witnesses said some leaders and activists, including Aminul Haque, a member secretary of the BNP's Metropolitan North Committee and a former national team footballer, gathered at the park around 10:45 am. Then the police prevented them from going inside.
At that time, the police had an argument with Aminul Haque. At one stage, the police charged batons on them and fired teargas shells.
Aminul Hauqu, Convener of Dhaka Metropolitan north unit of BNP, said, "We've come here today to offer fateha at Ziaur Rahman's grave. But the police are not allowing us to stay there. At one point, police fired teargas shells and rubber bullets on us."
Jane Alam Munsi, officer-in-charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, said, "The BNP activists were entering the field of Trade Fair which is they were not allowed to do. As there was an internal feud among BNP groups over forming the new convening committees, they started throwing brick chips on the police."

Later, police fired teargas shells and rubber bullets on them.
Police arrest six men for cheating people with fake govt jobs
Police arrested six members of a gang on Sunday for fraudulently taking money from people in the name of providing fake government jobs.
The arrestees were identified as Md Shahrukh Islam, 29, Md A Kuddus, 34, Md Mainul Islam, 34, Md Billal Hossain, 41, Towkir Ahmed,26, and Md Kafil Uddin, 60.
The alleged fraudsters were nabbed during a drive by the Specialized Investigation & Operations (SI&O) unit of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) at the city's Banasree and Rampura area.

The drive was conducted following a case filed against the accused at Mohammadpur police station by a victim, said PBI in a media release.
The gang used to publish fake vacancy notice with handsome salaries of Union Health Community Center, Shukhi Paribar health Center, Ma O Shishu Health Center, Apollo Consumer Products and many other fake companies through job related newspapers and online portals, said Additional Superintendent of SI&O (south) of PBI, Sarwar Jahan.
After the victims sent their Curriculum Vitae in the given mails, they would ask them to contact saying they have been selected for the jobs, he said.
The gang used to collect money from the job seeking victims through Bkash and other transaction services in phases for exams, training, laptop, medical equipment and transportation costs, said the police officer.

The members of the gang used to work collectively and also forge fake appointment letters for the aforementioned organizations, money receipts and identity cards to fraud people, he said.
