Husband, wife killed in Feni road crash
A man and his wife died on the spot when their motorbike collided head-on with a truck on the Muhuriganj Highway in Feni's Chhagalnaiya Saturday.
The deceased Nur Uddin and Aklima Akter were from the Kalidaha union of Chhagalnaiya upazila, said Monir Hossain, in-charge of Fazilpur Highway Police Outpost.
Police managed to seize the truck and held the driver and his assistant, Monir added.

3 farm workers killed in Sirajganj road crash
Three farm workers were killed and another was injured when a truck crushed a motorbike they were riding on Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway at Tarash upazila of Sirajganj, local police confirmed on Friday.
Witnesses said the accident occurred around 7pm Thursday when a gas cylinder-laden truck crushed the motorcycle with four riders at Mohishluti on their way to Hatikumrul.

The three _ Swapan Kumar, 25, Ashish Kumar, 28, and Palak, 30 _ all from Bridhamarich village of Bhangura upazila of Pabna district died on the spot. The injured has been admitted to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj.
Lutfar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station, confirmed the accident and said the bodies were handed over to the victims’ families.

A case has been filed in this regard, the OC added.
4 killed in Kurigram road accident
Four people, including three members of a family, were killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a Dhaka-bound bus and an auto-rickshaw in the Nageshwari area of Kurigram district on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Jalil Sarker (auto driver), son of late Samuddi Sheikh, Shahidul Islam, his daughter Sumaiya, and his mother Sufia Begum of West Raiganj area of the upazila.

Shahidul Islam’s wife Shahnaj Begum was admitted to hospital in a critical condition.
Agitated local people blocked the road after the accident.
On information, officer-in-charge of Nageshwari police station, Nabiul Hasan and UNO Nur Ahmed Masum rushed to the spot and pacified the mob.
According to police and local sources, construction work is underway on the Kurigram-Bhurungamari highway.
The accident occurred when the night bus of Rizvi Paribahan hit the autorickshaw at 8 pm, leaving two people dead on the spot.

The two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
Officer-in-charge of Nageswari police station Nabiul Hasan said the bus driver was detained and the vehicle compounded.
9 Hindu devotees die in India road crash
As many as nine Hindu devotees returning home on a three-wheeler after performing a religious ritual died after a speeding truck crashed into their vehicle in the Indian state of Assam, bordering Bangladesh, Thursday.
The accident occurred on national highway number 8 in the Baithakhal area of Assam's Karimganj district.
Police said that the truck was travelling at a high speed and its driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident. "Nine of the 10 Hindu devotees on the auto died in the impact of the crash," a police official said.

Assam's chief minister Himanta Biswa Sharma took to social media to offer his condolences to the bereaved families.
"I deeply mourn the tragic deaths of nine persons in an accident at Baitakhal, Patharkhandi...," he tweeted. "Assam police are trying to trace the driver of the truck who fled the scene..."
The police officer also said that "efforts are on to nab the truck driver in the hit-and-run case". "Our teams are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras in the area," he added.
Road accidents are very common in India, with one taking place every four minutes. These accidents are often blamed on poor roads, rash driving and scant regard for traffic laws.
The Indian government's implementation of stricter traffic laws in recent years have failed to rein in accidents, which claim over 100,000 lives every year.
Mymensingh road crash leaves 4 dead
Four people were killed and two others injured when a truck rammed a CNG run auto-rickshaw at Darirampur in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh district on Wednesday.
Two of the deceased were identified as Mina Akter, 40, wife of Azharul Islam and Sohrab Uddin, 50, son of Abdur Rahman of Trishal upazila.

The sand-laden truck hit the CNG run auto-rickshaw around 9 am, leaving two auto-rickshaw passengers dead on the spot and four others injured, said Moin Uddin, officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station.
The injured were taken to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital where two injured people succumbed to their injuries in the afternoon.
2 killed as bus overturns in Gazipur
Two people including a student were killed when a bus overturned on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Membarbari in Gazipur city on Monday.
One of the deceased was identified as Kona, 20, son of Mostafa Kamal of Sripur upazila while the identity of another one could not be known immediately.
Quoting witnesses, Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mawna Highway Police Station, said the accident occurred around 10:15 am as the Gazipur-bound bus of ‘Soukhin Paribahan’ from Mymensingh skidded off the road and overturned after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two people dead on the spot.

Two killed in Cumilla road crash
At least two persons died and one sustained injuries in a collision between a microbus and a lorry in the Katherpull area of Cumilla's Chandina upazila in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Ibrahim, son of Abdul Malek of Bhatgaon village in Manoharganj upazila, and Towhidul Islam son of Kamal Hossain of Laksham upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Moynamoti highway police station Belal Uddin Jahangir said the accident occurred when the microbus hit the lorry from behind after its driver lost control of the speeding vehicle.
"While two persons died on the spot in the impact of the crash, the injured is being treated at Cumilla Medical College Hospital," he added.

2 motorcyclists killed in Chattogram road crash
Two motorcyclists were killed and two others injured as a covered van hit their vehicles in Lohagara upazila of Chattogram on Sunday.
The deceased are Sakhawat Hossain ,25, and Sajjad Hossain,18.

The incident took place on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in front of Amirabad Rajmahal Community Center in the upazila in the morning.
Dohazari Highway Police Officer-in charge Abdur Rob said four youths were travelling by two motorbikes when the covered van hit them from behind.
Sakhawat Hossain died on the spot while the injured three were rushed to the emergency unit of Chattogram Medical College and Hospital where a doctor declared Sajjad dead.
Police are trying to seize the covered van, the OC said.
2 motorcyclists killed in Gazipur road crash
Two motorcyclists were killed as their motorbike crashed into a truck on Rajabari road in Sreepur of Gazipur district on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Kajol Sardar, 30, and Abul Kalam, 40. Both were residents of Sreepur upazila.

Witnesses said the motorcycle crashed into the stationary truck on Rajapur road near Joynarayanpur of the upazila around 8:30pm, leaving Kajol dead on spot.
Kalam succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital, said Sreepur Police Station SI Abdur Razzak.
Mymensingh road crash leaves seven dead
A speeding truck rammed into a stationary passenger-packed bus from behind on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Saturday, leaving at least seven people dead and several others injured, police said.
Five of the dead were from the same family. They were identified as Fazlul Haque,35, his wife Fatema Begum,28, their son Abdullah,6, and daughter Ajmina,9, and Nazrul Islam,55, Fatema’s father.
The identities of the two other deceased could not be known yet, said police, adding that all those who suffered casualties were on board the bus.

The accident occurred around 3pm at Chelerghat in Trishal on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, said officer-in-charge of Trishal police station Mainuddin.
The crash killed five people on the spot. One succumbed to injuries on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, while another died in the hospital while under treatment.
Eight of the injured were admitted to the hospital.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for two hours after the accident, police said.
OC Mainuddin said the bodies will be handed over to their families.
The truck driver could not be detained yet but efforts are underway to capture him, he said.
