One killed, 3 injured in Dinajpur road accident
A young man was dead and three were injured in a collision between two trucks at Uchitpur in Chirirbandar of Dinajpur district early this morning.
The deceased was identified as Russel, 18, helper of a truck driver and son of Quamrul Islam of Naogaon district.
Bonmali Roy, officer-in-charge of Chirirbandar Police Station, said the accident occurred around 5 am when the Naogaon bound paddy-carrying truck collided head on with a coal-laden truck coming from the opposite direction — leaving one dead on the spot and three others injured.

The injured were taken to a local hospital. Identities of the injured could not be immediately confirmed.
60-year-old woman killed in Dhaka's Elephant Road as bus hits her
A 60-year-old woman was killed when a speeding bus hit her in Dhaka's Elephant Road Wednesday, police said.
Rokeya Begum lived in a rented house in Demra's Konapara along with her daughter Rawshon Ara Begum. She used to work as a caregiver for an elderly person at a house in the New Market area.

The 60-year-old came out from the house Wednesday to catch a bus at Elephant Road BATA Signal to meet her daughter in Demra, police said.
"A bus of Malanch Paribahan hit Rokeya as she was trying to get on a bus. She died on the spot," Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost, said.

"The body has been kept at the DMCH morgue for postmortem," he added.
Child dies as truck ploughs into house in Kurigram
A 10-year-old boy has been killed as a truck ploughed through a roadside house in Sadar upazila of Kurigram.
The deceased was identified as Musa Mia, of the upazila.

The Kutigram-bound timber-laden truck ploughed into the roadside house in front of Jatrapur Union Parishad around 10 pm on Sunday while the child and his mother were asleep, said Khan Mohammad Shahriar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station.
The injured mother and son were rushed to Kurigram General Hospital where doctors declared the child dead on arrival, he said.

“Legal steps will be taken in this regard,” said the OC.
Youth dies after being hit by truck in Dhaka’s Rayerbazar
A 22-year-old man was killed as a truck hit a rickshaw van in the capital’s Rayerbazar area on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rabbi, an employee of a chicken wholesale shop at Rayerbazar.

The accident occurred near Martyr Intellectual graveyard around 6 am when the truck hit the van carrying Rabbi on his way back to his shop after delivering chickens at Nabisco area of Tejgaon, said his co-worker Ohid Mia, who was peddling the van.
Rabbi fell from the van and was crushed under the wheels of the truck, he added.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.

17 dead in China crash as holiday travel rush gets underway
A traffic accident in southern China killed 17 people and injured 22 others early Sunday as the annual Lunar New Year holiday travel rush got underway, authorities said.
The accident occurred outside the city of Nanchang in Jiangxi province, according to the local traffic management brigade. It wasn't clear how many vehicles or what types were involved and the cause was under investigation, the brigade said.

Website Jimu News quoted a local resident as saying the victims were mourners from the village of Taoling who had set up a funeral tent on the side of the road, as is common in rural China, and were hit by a passing truck as they were preparing to travel to the local crematorium in the morning.
Several of the victims were her neighbors, the woman — identified only by her surname, Deng — told the site, which is published by the Hubei Daily newspaper based in a neighboring province.
Jimu quoted another unidentified villager as confirming that version of events, adding that the scene had already been cleaned up. The condition of the injured was not known.

Teen girl dies after truck overturns in Ctg
A 15-year-old girl was killed after a truck overturned on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Priya Rani Rishi, a resident of Sitakunda railway station area. She used to work at a shoe factory in Bashbaria union.

The accident occurred around 12:30am when a speeding truck overturned on the highway by-pass.
Priya, who was on her way back home, was crushed under the truck, said Shahadat Hossain, inspector of Kumira Highway police outpost.
Road crash leaves elderly man dead in Narail
A 60-year-old elderly man died as a three-wheeler rammed into him on the Kalia-Gopalganj road in Kalia upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased--Moslem Mollah, was son of late Kuti Miah of Parbasona village under the upazila.
Sheikh Taslim Alam, officer-in-charge of Kalia police station, said the accident happened around 2pm when the three-wheeler easybike hit Moslemwhile he was crossing the road in Kalinagar area, leaving him critically injured.

Later, locals rushed him to Upazila health complex where physicians declared him dead upon arrival, he said.
Apart from this details on the road mishap could not be known.
Motorcyclist killed in N’ganj road crash
A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at Mouchak in Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Jewel Chowdhury, son of Ebayedullah of Noakhali district.

The accident occurred in the area early in the morning when Jewel was heading towards Narayanganj from Noakhali, leaving him critically injured, said Inspector Bachhu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police camp.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:30 am.
Man killed in city road crash
A 47-year-old man was killed when a bus hit a rickshaw van in the city’s Jatrabari area early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Joynal Abedin, 47, son of Sonamuddin of Patuakhali district.

The accident occurred around 2 am when the bus hit the rickshaw van carrying Joynal, leaving him injured, said Inspector Bachhu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police camp.
Later, he was taken to DMCH where he succumbed to his injuries around 4:15 am.
2 inc. wife of expatriate killed in road crash after receiving him at airport
Two people were killed and six others were critically injured as their microbus crashed into a roadside tree after losing control on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Feni Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased---Jannatul Ferdous, 36, wife of Kuwait expatriate Belal Hossain of Gobindarapur village under Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni and the microbus driver Imam Hossain Ripon, 23, son of Abdul Matin Babul Miah of Dakkhin Mohammadpur village under Senbagh upazila of Noakhali.
Belal, 45, is among the injured. Five others have been identified as injured and receiving treatment at Feni Sadar Hospital: Saber Hossain, 14, Sabbir Hossain, 10, Fahmida Aktar, 22, Sharif Uddin, 30, Limon Hossain, 8.

Highway police and fire service department said the group was returning home to their village in Gobindarapur after receiving Belal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The accident occurred Saturday morning when the speeding microbus hit the roadside tree, presumably after losing control on the highway. The driver died on the spot. Although seven others were rushed to the hospital, Jannatul's injuries did prove fatal by the time they arrived.
Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Feni Highway police station, confirmed the tragedy saying that the bodies of Jannatul and Ripon were sent to the morgue for autopsies.

The bodies will be handed over to their respective families upon completion of legal formalities, the OC added.
