Young couple found dead at Mohammadpur flat
Police have recovered the bodies of a couple from their rented flat in the city’s Mohammadpur area.
The deceased were identified as Saudi expatriate Noman, 32, and his wife Shamima, 24, who got married around a year back.
On Sunday night, the security guards of their building informed police after getting no response from them for a long time, said Abdur Rab, sub-inspector (SI) of Mohammadpur police station.
Police later found Noman hanging from the ceiling fan and Shamina lying dead on the floor.
The couple was in trouble as their families didn’t accept their marriage, said the SI.
Police suspected that it is a suicide incident.
The bodies were kept at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
Man held in police custody after wife found dead in Sherpur
Police took a 38-year-old man into custody as a suspect in the killing of his wife of 10 years over family feuds at Boyra Paranpur village of Sherpur's Sadar upazia early Monday.
Police also suspects that the husband, Md Shafiqul Islam, might have tried to end his own life as he was found to have taken pesticides and lay unconcious beside the body of wife, Parvin Begum,32.
Shafiqul is undergoing treatment at a local hospital under police watch and he will be questioned about the incident after he gets well, police said.

According to the locals, Parvin had allegedly been subjected to torture by her husband since their marriage 10 years ago. The couple has two children.A few months ago, Parveen went to her father's house after quarrels with her husband.
On Sunday night, Shafiqul went to his father-in-law's house and allegedly strangled his wife, said locals.Parvin's mother entered her daughter's room in the morning as she found it unusually calm since early morning and saw Parvin and her husband lying on the floor, said Bosir Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station.

Gazipur teacher-couple found dead in car
A teacher-couple was found dead inside their private car in the Borobari area of Gazipur district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as AKM Ziaur Rahman Mamun, the headmaster of Tongi Shaheed Smriti High School, and his wife Mahmuda Akter Joly, an assistant teacher with Tongi Amzad Ali Sarkar Pilot High School and College.
Md Nandalal, officer-in-charge of Gacha Police Station, said that the couple's son Meraj spotted the bodies inside their car, near their house in the morning and informed police.

On information, a team from the local police station soon reached the spot and sent the bodies to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy.
On Wednesday, the couple did not return home from work.
Meraj claimed to have spoken to his parents in the evening on the mobile phone. He also informed the cops later that night when his parents didn't return home and their phones were switched off.
“A probe has been ordered,” the OC said.
Cultural activist found hanging at Barishal house
A cultural activist was found dead at her house at Uttar Mallik Road in Barishal city on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Samsunnahar Nipa, 25, daughter of Fazlul Karim of the area.
Aklima Begum, sub-inspector of Kotwali Model Police Station, said Nipa used to live with her sister Dalia.
When Dalia woke up in the morning, she found Nipa hanging from a ceiling fan of the house, said Aklima.

Nipa was a member of Udichi Shilpighoshti, Barishal and ‘Bashial Natok’, a cultural organisation.
On information, police recovered the body of Nipa and sent it to a local hospital morgue for autopsy.
Azimul Karim, officer-in-charge of Barishal Kotwali Model Police Station, said primarily it is suspected that Nipa killed herself. “Actual reason behind the death will be known once autopsy report is available,” he said.
Tourist found dead in Cox’s Bazar hotel
A 26-year-old tourist was found dead in a hotel room at Kolatoli in Cox’s Bazar municipality on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Kawsar, son of Mofazzal Hossain of Joypurhat district.
Selim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Kawsar checked into the hotel on Tuesday afternoon.

At 11pm, the hotel authorities informed the police after getting no response from inside despite repeated knocks on the door.
"We rushed to the hotel and recovered the body. A suicide note purportedly written by him was found in the room, in which he blamed no one for his death," the OC said.
Rezaul Karim, additional superintendent of Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police, said, "It seems Kawsar consumed poison. Anyway, the actual reason behind his death will be ascertained after an autopsy."
Newly married woman found hanging in Thakurgaon
A newly married woman was found hanging from the ceiling of her room in Thakugaon’s Baliadangi upazila on Monday, police said.
The woman was identified as Tajmin Akter Bithi, daughter of Tojammel Haque of Raymahal village in the upazila.
Locals said Bithi got married to Mamun, son of Monir Uddin of Mahatobosti village of the same upazila, some three months ago. But they had a troubled marriage, with a family feud being the main reason.

On Monday afternoon, family members found Bithi hanging from the ceiling of her bedroom with a scarf around her neck and informed the police.
"On information, we rushed to the spot. It seemed she hanged herself with a scarf," said Khairul Alam, officer-in-charge of Baliadangi police station.
The body has been sent to a local hospital morgue for an autopsy. "A probe has been ordered into the death," the OC added.

Transwoman found dead in Thakurgaon
A 39-year-old transwoman was found dead in Kohorpara of Thakurgaon's Sadar upazila Wednesday, police said Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Brishti, who lived in a room in ‘Uttaran Asrayan’ project, especially built for the transgenders.

Being informed by locals, police rushed to the scene and found her body hanging from the ceiling in her room, said Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
“Whether she ended her life or died by suicide will be clear only after an autopsy,” he added.
Two women found dead in Natore
Two women were found dead in Rejur Mor and Palapara areas, respectively, of Natore's Baraigram upazila on Wednesday morning, police said.
The deceased were identified as Rosena Khatun, 50, wife of Moslem Uddin of the Mahishbhanga area, and Nileema Kundu, 70.

Locals spotted the body of Rosena along Bonpara-Hatikumrul Road in the Rejur Mor area of the upazila in the morning and informed police.
"We recovered the body and sent it for an autopsy," said Abu Siddique, officer-in-charge of Baraigram Police Station.

The body of the elderly woman was fished out of a pond in the Palapara area of Natore this morning, police said.
Nileema left the house early in the morning, said family members, adding that she might have drowned while taking bath in the pond.
Two found dead in Keraniganj:Police
Two people were found dead at two separate places at Rohitpur West Mugarchar and Kolatia Kaskandi village in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Sharif Uddin,44, son of Zamir Khan of Kaskandi village and Lal Mia, 60, son of Abdur Rashid of Gopalpur Baniatari area of Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram district.
Police said Sharif was found hanging in his house at Kaskandi around 9am on Friday.
He was without a job after recent return from abroad.

He might have committed suicide out of frustration, said Abu Salam Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Keraniganj Model Police Station.
In another incident, police recovered the body of a day laborer from the Dhaleshwari River on Friday morning.
Locals spotted the body floating on the river near Mugarchar area around 10am and informed police.

On information, police recovered the body, said the OC adding that they are investigating his death.
Teenager found dead in Khulna
A teenager who left her home on Saturday was found dead in a jungle in Char village of Khulna's Rupsha upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Meem, 14, daughter of Montu Fakir, a resident of Goalbari Char Ashrayan Project. She was a student of Class VII of Pithabhog BGC Secondary School.

Sarder Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rupsha Police Station, said Meem left her home on Saturday morning but didn’t return. "On Monday night, locals spotted the girl’s body in the jungle and informed cops."
On information, police recovered the body around 8pm and sent it to the morgue of Khulna Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy, he added.
"We have detained a 22-year-old man, named Hossain, for questioning in connection with the girl's death," the OC said.
