Ex-DU professor’s body recovered in Gazipur, suspected killer arrested
Former professor of Dhaka University Saida Gaffar was found dead at Kashimpur in Gazipur on Friday, two days after she went missing, police said.
She was a former Professor of Institute of Nutrition and Food Science of the university.

A mason Anwarul was arrested from Gaibandha district earlier on the day following a missing diary filed by the deceased's daughter Sahida Afrin at Kashimpur Police Station. He worked at the under-construction building of the professor.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Dipankar Roy of Kashimpur Police Station said Prof Saida’s body was recovered from a place away from her rented house at Panishail area in Kashimpur on Friday based on the arrestee’s information.
University student found dead in Chattogram
A student of International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) was found dead at her residence at Navy gate colony of Chattogram city early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Zakia Chowdhury, daughter of ATM Jobaer Chowdhury of the area.
She was a second year student of the English literature department of the university.
Police said as Zakia did not respond despite repeated calls her parents broke open the door of her room only to see her hanging from a fan around 3am.

On information, police came and recovered the body.
Kabirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of EPZ Police Station, said the body was sent to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) morgue.
The girl might have committed suicide and cause of her death will be known after a postmortem, said the OC.
A case has been filed in this regard, the OC added.
35-yr-old found dead in Kushtia
A 35-year-old man was found dead in Kushtia town on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Anich, son of Ahed of the area.
Locals spotted his body in the Housing 'A' block area of the town and informed cops, Sabbirul Alam, officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station, said.

"Anich had been separated from his family for the past 10 years because of his drug addiction. We are probing his death," the OC said.
The body has been sent to the Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.
20-yr-old found dead in Jhenaidah
A 20-year-old youth was found dead in Kotchandpur upazila of Jhenaidah district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Riad Khan, 20, son of Solaiman Amin of Bagdanga village. Riad used to work at a rice mill.

Local people spotted the body of Riad in the afternoon and alerted cops, said Moinuddin, officer-in-charge of Kotchandpur Police Station.
"The body bore several injury marks. We suspect he was stabbed to death by miscreants on Tuesday night," he added.
The body was sent to the local hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Mother, children found dead in Cox's Bazar
Police recovered the body of a young woman and her two children from a house in Islampur union of Cox's Bazar's Eidgaon upazila Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Jahanara Jisan, wife of salt trader Shahidul Haque, and her two daughters Jabin, 5, and Jerin, 2, Eidgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Halim said.

"On information, we went to the house and found Jahanara hanging herself from the ceiling and the children lying on the bed. It is suspected that the mother committed suicide after poisoning her children," the OC added.
Cox's Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Rafiqul Islam said, "The incident may have occurred due to a family feud. However, the cause of the deaths can be confirmed after an autopsy and investigation."
Missing youth found dead in Kushtia
Barely six hours after he went missing, a 22-year-old youth was found dead on the banks of the Gorai River in Kushtia Sadar upazila Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Sabuj Mondol, son of Haider Ali, a resident of the East Millpara area. He worked at a local factory.
Police recovered his body from an under-construction eco-park on the banks of the Gorai river in the Millpara area this morning.
His father said that Sabuj went to work on Tuesday morning as usual. "But he didn't return home at night," he said.

Locals spotted his body on Wednesday morning and informed police.
"We have brecovered the body and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital for an autopsy,' said Sabbirul Alam, officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station.
There were several injury marks on his body, the OC added.
Abducted JSS leader found dead in Bandarban
Police have recovered the body of a Jana Sanghati Samiti (JSS) leader from a hilly area near Krao Amtalipara in Bandarban district 15 hours after his abduction
The deceased was identified as Pu Shoi Thoai, 32, general secretary of Sadar Upazila Committee of JSS.
Police said locals spotted Pu Shoi’s body which was concealed in a ditch near Krao Amtalipara on the Bandarban-Chandraghona road on Monday morning.

On information, police went to the spot and recovered the body after digging soil at around 10am.
On Sunday, a group of armed terrorists abducted Pu Shoi Thoai Marma from his home in Dolupara around 6:30 pm.
Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Bandarban Police Station, said the body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The matter is under investigation.

College student found dead in C’nawabganj dormitory
A college student was found dead at a dormitory of Adina Fazlul Haque Government College in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Reazul Islam Jony, son of Shariful Islam of Kaharole upazila in Dinajpur district.

The other students of the dormitory found his room locked from inside for a long time. Later they peeped through the window of the room only to see Reazul hanging from the ceiling.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue for autopsy, said Farid Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station.
10 bodies, 9 hanging from overpass, found in central Mexico
Mexican authorities on Thursday discovered 10 bodies — nine of them hanging from an overpass — in the central state of Zacatecas, the scene of a battle for territory among drug cartels.
The Zacatecas state public safety agency said in a statement the bodies were found in Ciudad Cuauhtemoc, about 340 miles (550 kilometers) north of Mexico city. The 10th body was found on the pavement. All of the victims were men.
The Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation cartels have been battling for control in the state, which is a key transit point for drugs, especially the powerful synthetic pain killer fentanyl, moving north to the U.S. border.

Cartels sometimes make such public displays of bodies to taunt their rivals or authorities and terrify local residents.
In the first nine months of the year, Mexico had more than 25,000 murders, a number 3.4% less than the same period a year earlier, according to federal data.

Elephant carcass found along Sherpur border
A wild elephant was found dead at Malakakocha along Balijhuri border in Sreebordi upazila of Sherpur district on Tuesday.
Locals said the 30-year-old elephant might have died from electrocution in the early hours of Tuesday as it came in contact with an electric wire set up around the house of local farmer Amir Ali.

Later, the farmer removed the electric wire from the body of the dead elephant, they alleged.
Rabiul Islam, range officer at Balijhuri Forest Department, visited the spot upon receiving the news and conducted the postmortem of the elephant.
A case will be filed at Sreebordi police station in this regard, he said.
