Location of Khoiyachora Waterfall and Origin of Name
Khoiyachora is the most renowned of the springs in the Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram division. It is situated to the north of Baratakia Bazar in the Khoiyachora part along the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Just venture about 4.2 km eastward from this highway, and this waterfall will be visible.
As the fall is nestled deep within the mountains, no vehicle can reach its base directly. First, take a CNG autorickshaw from the Dhaka-Chittagong highway to the village adjacent to the fall. From there, the only way to reach the source of the spring is on foot.

As 3-month ban on tourism ends, Sundarbans abuzz with local and foreign travellers
Sundarbans, world’s largest mangrove forest, is abuzz with footsteps of a large number of tourists – both local and foreign – due its scenic beauty and diverse wildlife.
After three months of closure, Sundarbans opened to tourists on September 1.
The mangrove forest was off-limits to tourists from June 1 to August 31 by the Forest Department to ensure the breeding of 375 species of wild animals and 291 species of fish, including the Bengal tiger and deer. According to the Forest Department, at present, 114 Royal Bengal tigers, 375 species of wildlife including 200,000 deer, 334 species of plants including Sundari, 165 species of algae, 13 species of orchids, and 300 species of birds call the Sundarbans home.
Fence to be erected in parts of Sundarbans to tackle human-tiger conflicts
Kazi Muhammad Nurul Karim, forest officer of Sundarbans East zone, said a total of 4,908 local and 72 foreign tourists have visited the Sundarbans since it reopened till September 26.
Last year, the number of local tourists was 2,332 and foreign tourists were seven in the 26 days of September.
Md Saiful Islam, director of Sundari Eco Resort, said an eco village has been set up in Dhangmari, and they are working on developing community-based tourism.

“We have provided employment to hundreds of locals, and the local stakeholders are also being benefited through this,” he said.
“This month, we have provided services to 34 tourists from China, Germany, Japan, Poland and India and the visitors felt delighted to visit the village, wearing local attire,” he added.
Abu Foysal Mohammad Sayem Babu, director of Holidays Tours and Travels, said, “The Sundarbans has become the biggest attraction for foreign travellers, and keeping that in mind we are providing services to tourists through modern and luxurious cruise ships.”

He also claimed that the number of tourists in the Sundarbans will see further increase if the government lowers the travel fee for foreign travellers.
A Japanese tourist, currently in the Sundarbans, said, “After hearing the story of the Sundarbans, I came here, at the Sundari Eco Resort. I did not expect to see such a charming village.”
Azad Kabir, in-charge of Karamjal Tourist and Wild Animal Breeding Center, said that hundreds of tourists have visited the main attractions in the Sundarbans, and were overwhelmed by the scenic beauty.
Weeklong beach carnival and tourism fair in Cox’s Bazar set to start today
In an effort to promote local tourism, a weeklong beach carnival and tourism fair is set to start today (September 27, 2023).
The local administration has taken all preparations to inaugurate the carnival that will continue till October 3.
Hotels and motels in Cox’s Bazar are ready to welcome local and foreign tourists.
Tourism fair to begin Sunday at DU
Rooms of hotels and motels are booked ahead of the tourism fair.
Abu Morshed Chowdhury, president of Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Cox’s Bazar, said the fair can positively brand local tourism.
Muhammad Shaheen Imran, deputy commissioner of Cox’s Bazar district, said different programmes including circus, beach bike rally, cultural programmes, fireworks, road show, seminar, kite festival, magic show, fire spinning, surfing, beach marathon, beach volleyball and concert will be held during the weeklong fair.
Popular band Chirkutt, as well as artistes from Sunamganj, Kushtia, Sylhet, Kurigram and Mymensingh will arrive to perform at the carnival.

Young dancers from Bandarban, Khagrachhari and Rangamati, and the Rakhaine community from Cox’s Bazar will also participate in the fair.

Ad agency uses foreign footage in Philippines tourism video, later apologises
An advertising agency in the Philippines has apologised for using visuals of tourist attractions in other countries in a promotional film.
Visuals from the ad included rice terraces in Indonesia, sand dunes in the United Arab Emirates, and a plane landing in Switzerland, reports BBC.
The ad agency, DDB Philippines, apologised for the "unfortunate oversight," it said.

Christina Garcia Frasco, Philippines' tourism secretary, stated that public money was not utilised for the film.
According to Frasco, the Department of Tourism frequently sought confirmation from the agency that the elements used in the ad were their own and unique, said the report.
"ALL these occasions, DDB repeatedly assured the DOT that the originality and ownership of all materials are in order," she said.

It was created as part of the "Love the Philippines" campaign, which was launched in late June at a cost of $900,000, the BBC report added.
Analysis by French news agency AFP and Philippine blogger Sass Rogando Sasot first revealed the use of visuals from other nations in the ad.
Frasco stated that the department will ensure DDB Philippines accepts responsibility for the video.

In its own response, DDB Philippines stated that the usage of stock material in mood films is common in the advertising industry, but it apologised for using other videos in this case, the report also said.
“The use of foreign stock footage in a campaign promoting the Philippines is highly inappropriate, and contradictory to the DOT's objectives,” it said.
The video has been withdrawn, and the company has stated that it would cooperate with the Philippines tourism department's inquiry.
