Global death toll from coronavirus reaches 554,304
The death toll from Covid-19 crossed 554,304 and the confirmed cases stood 12,232, 745 as of Friday morning, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
As per JHU data, Brazil has grabbed the second position after the US with 1,755,779 cases and 69,184 deaths while India taken the third position again with 767,296 cases. India has so far reported 21,129 deaths.
Meanwhile, Russia counted the fourth highest cases -- 706,240 -- till date.
Coronavirus in Bangladesh: 41 more die, 3,706 recover
Coronavirus death toll in Bangladesh rose to 2,238 on Thursday as 41 more people died from the virus infection during the last 24 hours.
Besides, total confirmed infections surged to 175, 494 as 3,360 new cases were detected after testing 15,632 samples in the period.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin.
The health authorities also counted 3,706 recovery during the period, taking the total number of recovered patients to 84,544.

The casualties from coronavirus in Bangladesh rose to 2,151on Tuesday as health authorities confirmed the death of 55 more patients in a span of 24 hours.
1,288 among 1,646 Covid-19 patients recover in Kishoreganj
A total of 1,288 among 1,646 coronavirus patients made full recovery until Monday night in Kishoreganj, said Kishoreganj Civil Surgeon Dr Md Mujibur Rahman.
Dr Mujibur Rahman said 15 new cases were detected in the district in the last 24 hours until Monday night.
Among the new infected people, nine are from Sadar upazila, three from Karimganj, two from Bhoirab and while another was infected in Nikli upazila, he added.
Covid-19: Global confirmed cases cross 11.5 mn
Coronavirus cases across the globe reached 11,592,259 and the death toll from the deceased crossed 537,487 on Tuesday, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
According to JHU data, Brazil has come up to the second position after the US with 1,628,284 cases and 65,487 deaths as of Tuesday.
South Asian country India has come to the third position again with 697,413 Covid-19 cases. The country has so far reported 19,693 deaths.
Meanwhile, Russia counted the fourth highest Covid-19 cases- 686,852 till the date.
Freedom fighter dies from coronavirus in Sherpur
Freedom Fighter and former Nalitabari municipality mayor Abdul Halim Ukil died of Covid-19 on Sunday night. He was 67.
Abdul Halim, a member of district Awami League executive committee, was diagnosed with coronavirus on June 25 and undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Kuwait Maitree Hospital in the capital where he breathed his last around 10:40pm, according to family sources.
He is survived by wife, one daughter and one son.
According to Sherpur civil surgeon office, so far total three people died from coronavirus in the district.
In his long political career, Abdul Halim, was also the first elected municipal chairman. He also served as a UP chairman and was the president of Nalitabari Upazila Awami League.
Global Covid-19 infections top 11.4 mn
The confirmed coronavirus cases reached 11,409,805 globally with 533,684 deaths and more than 6.1 million recoveries as of Monday morning.
According to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University, the worst-hit US has registered 2,880,130 confirmed cases with 129,906 fatalities.
Besides, Brazil, which has come up to the second position, recorded 64,867 deaths and 1, 603,055 confirmed cases while Russia counted the third highest Covid-19 cases- 680,283 till date.
Meanwhile, India registered a record daily number of 24,912 cases on Sunday, the
biggest daily spike since the first coronavirus detection in the country.
Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December last year.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
