Mild to moderate heatwave to continue
Mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions and the region of Srimangal and it may continue and spread.
Weather is likely to remain dry with the partly cloudy sky over the country, met office said on Sunday.
About the synoptic situation, the Met office said a trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and the adjoining area.

The maximum temperature of the country was recorded at 40 degrees Celsius in Jashore on Saturday.

Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka, Khulna & Barishal divisions, Met office said on Wednesday.
The heat wave is also sweeping over the regions of Sitakunda, Rangamati, Noakhali, Feni, Moulvibazar, Rajshahi & Pabna and it may abate from some places, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said.

About the synoptic situation, BMD bulletin said a trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area, extending up to North Bay.
Besides, in next 24 hours commencing from 6 pm, rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with hails at isolated places.

The heat wave is also sweeping over the regions of Bogura, Naogaon, Sirajganj, Khulna, Mongla, Satkhira, Jashore and Rangamati, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said.

Besides, severe heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Chuadanga & Kushtia, BMD added.

Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Sylhet divisions in next 24 hours commencing from 6pm on Tuesday, BMD said in regular bulletin.

Nor’wester lashes across the country; 1 killed
A fisherman was killed at Ulipur Upazila in Kurigram as a nor'wester lashed across the country on Friday night into early hours of Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Momir Uddin, 42.
Police and local sources said a tree crushed Momir near Shyampur Kumar Para area as he was returning from Bazar amid the storm.
Hearing his cries locals rescued him and rushed to Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor announced him dead.

Ulipur police station’s Officer-in-Charge confirmed the incident.
Nor'wester also caused immense damage in several districts of the country including Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and Bhola.
In Panchagarh, nor'wester hit with heavy rain and wind around 9pm on Friday.
Moreover, hailstorm was seen in some places of the district.

The Meteorological office recorded 47 Km per hour velocity of the wind during the storm which caused a long power cut in the district.
Many houses and crops were destroyed during this time.
Ferry services were suspended for a long time at Ilisha Ferry Ghat in Bhola due to the storm.
Many vehicles were stranded on both sides of the ghat due to this.

On the other hand, a partial part of a boat carrying passengers sank at Dhal Char Union under Charfashion Upazila because of the storm.
However, no casualties were reported.
12 killed in Gaibandha, Faridpur as nor’wester lashes country
At least twelve people were killed in Gaibandha and Faridpur on Sunday when nor'wester and rain swept over different regions of the country.
In Gaibandha, 5 people died as they were crushed under collapsed tree and house due to the stormy wind and 5 more died later while undergoing treatment.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Goffar, Jahanara Begum, Moyna Begum from Betkapa union of Palashbari Upazila, Sheuli Akter from Fulchhari, Josna, Monir, Arjina, Sayra and the other person was unidentified.
Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner Abdul Matin said many houses collapsed and trees were uprooted during the storm in the afternoon. The victims were killed after being hit by uprooted trees and in house collapse.

Meanwhile, in Alfadanga of Faridpur, a mother and her four months old daughter were killed as a tree branch co on them.
The deceased were identified as Mst. Halima and her daughter Afsana from Bajitpur village of Modhukhali Upazila.
Inclement weather forced suspension of transportation in many places while the power supply was also disrupted until 5 pm in the district.
Meanwhile, the tropical storm, the first of the season, also hit the capital around 6:30pm and lasted for a few minutes, according to the Met Office.

It recorded a wind speed of 68km per hour, said Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque.
The sudden rain caused widespread traffic chaos in the congested city, inflicting suffering on those returning home from work.
Meanwhile, the nor’wester swept over Rajshahi while rain and gusty wind hit Sylhet, Khulna, Jashore and Noakhali.
Met Office has also forecast rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind for one or two places over eight divisions in the next 24 hrs.

The depression over North Andaman Sea and adjoining area moved north-northeastwards and weakened in to a well-marked low and then a low pressure area over North Andaman Sea and adjoining Myanmar coast, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said.
It is likely to become unimportant, BMD said, adding that a trough of Westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area.
