Drug case against Pori Moni: HC stays trial proceedings for 3 months
The High Court on Tuesday stayed for three months the trial proceeding of a case filed against Dhallywood actress Pori Moni under the Narcotics Control Act.
The HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Salim passed the order after hearing the petition filed by Pori Moni.
It also issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the order of charge framing against Pori Moni should not be revoked.

Advocate Zahirul Islam Khan Panna, Advocate Syeda Nasrin and Advocate Shaheenuzzaman Shaheen stood for Pori Moni while Deputy Attorney General Abu Yeahia Dulal represented the state.
On January 30, Pori Moni appealed before the High Court for quashing the case and subsequent indictment by the trial court.
On January 5, judge of Dhaka Special Judge of Court-10 Md Nazrul Islam indicted Pori Moni and two others in the case.
Pori Moni and two others secured bail in the case.
On November 15 last year, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Emrul Kayesh took into cognizance the charges framed by police against the accused.

On October 4, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submitted a charge sheet against them.
Pori Moni was arrested on August 4, following a raid by RAB on her Banani residence. A case was filed against her under the Narcotics Control Act the following day.
On August 31, 2021, a Dhaka court granted bail to Pori Moni in the narcotics case. She had walked out of jail the following day.
Pori Moni appeals to HC for quashing charges under narcotic case
Dhallywood actress Pori Moni on Sunday appealed to the High Court for quashing the case filed against her under the Narcotics Control Act and subsequent indictment by the trial court.
The appeal was submitted according to section 561, A of Criminal Procedure Code, 1898 on saving the inherent power of High Court Division, Pori Moni’s lawyer ZI Khan Panna to UNB.
On January 5, Dhaka Special Judge of Court-10, Md Nazrul Islam indicted Pori Moni and two others in the case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
The court fixed February 1 as the next date for hearing the testimonies of witnesses.

Pori Moni-Raaz announces pregnancy
Actress Pori Moni has announced on Monday that she is expecting her first child, with 'No Dorai' famed Dhallywood actor Sariful Raaz.
The couple has confirmed the news on their Facebook profiles about being the parents of their first child on Monday at around 5 pm. Sharing the same photograph, they both congratulated and thanked each other.

Further confirming the news to the media, Pori said, ''I am going to be a mother. Alhamdulillah I am fine. When the doctor confirmed it today, I felt like I am the strongest woman in the world. I am flying with enormous joy and happiness."
Describing her condition and further plans, Pori added, "The doctor has told me to be a little more careful now. I am also keeping myself away from shooting for the next year and a half. I want to give birth to a healthy baby."

Regarding her relation with Razz, she has recently said that they fell in love on the set of noted director Giasuddin Selim's upcoming film 'Gunin'. She has recently confirmed that the two secretly got married a few days ago.
Spl court frames charges against Pori Moni, 2 others in narcotics case
A Dhaka court on Wednesday indicted actress Pori Moni and two others in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Dhaka Special Judge of Court-10, Md Nazrul Islam framed the charges against the trio, setting the ball rolling for commencement of trial in the case.
Pori Moni and the two other accused were present in the court, which fixed February 1 as the next date for hearing the testimonies of witnesses.
On January 2, the same court set January 5 for hearing arguments on whether to press charges against the trio in the case.

Pori Moni case: Charge-framing hearing deferred until Jan 5
A Dhaka court on Sunday set a new date, January 5, for hearing arguments on whether to press charges against actress Pori Moni and two others in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
The hearing was scheduled for today.
But Dhaka Special Judge of Court-10, Md Nazrul Islam deferred it as the court was adjourned due to the death of former general secretary of Dhaka Bar Association Ayubur Rahman.

The January 2 hearing date was set on December 14 following request of the actress’s lawyer Lawyer Nilanjana Rifat Surovi as Pori Moni fell sick on her way to the court that day.
Pori Moni and two others are currently out on bail in the case.

Dhaka court defers framing of charges against Pori Moni in narcotics case
A Dhaka court on Tuesday deferred the framing of charges against actress Pori Moni and two others in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
The trial in the case can begin once charges are framed. All the three accused, including Pori Moni, are currently out on bail in the case.
Dhaka Special Judge of Court-19, Md Nazrul Islam set January 2 next year as the next date of hearing in the case in the wake of a request from the actor's counsel.
Lawyer Nilanjana Rifat Surovi sought some more time from the court on the ground that Pori Moni fell sick on her way to the court this morning.

Though Pori Moni was not present in the court, the other two accused in the case -- Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain -- had appeared before the judge.

'Rape and Murder attempts' on Pori Moni: Court accepts charges
A Dhaka court on Monday accepted the charges in a case filed by film actress Pori Moni against three people including businessman Nasir U Mahmud and his associate Tuhin Siddiqui Omi bringing charges of rape and murder attempts on her.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-9 Judge Md Hemayet Uddin accepted the charges in the case rejecting Pori Moni’s no-confidence petition.

The court also issued a warrant for arresting fugitive accused Shah Shahidul Alam.
Meanwhile, the court fixed March 3, 2022 fir beginning trial in the case.
Earlier on Dec 1, Pori Moni filed a no-confidence petition seeking further investigation.
On September 6, inspector Md Kamal Hossain of Savar police station, the investigating officer, submitted the charge-sheet against the three accused to the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court.
In her verified Facebook page, Pori Moni uploaded a status seeking justice from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claiming that the six people attempted to rape and kill her at the Uttara Boating Club on June 9.
On June 14, Pori Moni filed a sexual assault complaint against six people, including Nasir and Omi, with Savar Model Police Station.
Later, Nasir and four others were arrested from Uttara by a team of detectives.

Later, police filed a narcotics case with Airport Police Station against Nasir and Omi over the recovery of liquor and Yaba pills during their arrest.
On June 23, a Dhaka court placed Nasir and Omi on a five-day remand each in the case.
The court on June 29 granted bail to Nasir and Omi in the case.
HC denies bail to producer Raj in money laundering case
The High Court on Monday rejected a bail plea by Nazrul Islam Raj, owner of Raj Multimedia, in a case of money laundering filed against him.
The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and AKM Zahirul Haque dismissed the bail petition as not presented at the court, said Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik.
Lawyer AK Rashedul Haque presented the petitioner’s side at the court while DAG AKM Amin Uddin Manik appeared for the state.
Raj, an associated of actress Pori Moni, was arrested by Rab on August 4 along with two others.

His arrest came hours after a raid on Pori Moni’s Banani residence and her subsequent arrest on charge of keeping illegal drugs.
Pori Moni, who was sent to jail, is now out on bail. She faces trial under Narcotics Control Act.

A Dhaka court on Monday accepted the charges against film actress Pori Moni and two others in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Emrul Kayesh took the charges into cognisance and fixed December 14 for hearing on charge framing.
The two other accused are Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain.
Earlier on October 26, a Dhaka court granted bail to the three accused in the case.
The court also fixed November 15 for hearing on the acceptance of the chargesheet against them.

Multiple remands of Pori Moni: 2 magistrates seek unconditional apology to HC
Two Dhaka metropolitan magistrates on Sunday sought unconditional apology to the High Court for placing actress Pori Moni on police remand on multiple occasions in a narcotics case.
The two magistrates also promised to court of being more responsible while passing remand appeals in future.
The bench of justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and ASM Abdul Mobin heard the previously submitted explanations by those magistrates during a hearing today.
The two lower court magistrates seeking apologies are Debabrata Biswas and Atiqul Islam.
The court has set November 25 to pass an order regarding the matter and acquitted the investigation officer in the case Kazi Golam Mostafa from personal appearance in the court.

Lawyer Abdul Alim Mia Jewel appeared for the magistrates before the court while ZI Khan Panna appeare for Ain O Shalish Kendra and Mojibur Rahman for Pori Moni. Assistant Attorney General Mizanur Rahman stood for the state.

On August 5, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mamunur Rashid remanded Pori Moni for four days for the first time.
On August 10, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Debabrata Biswas granted a second-time 2-day remand of the actress.
On August 19, for the third time Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Atiqul Islam granted another 1-day in remand for the actress.
Following the High Court's intervention, a Dhaka court finally granted bail to the actress on September 1 and she walked out of jail the following day.
On August 29, one Ain-o-Salish Kendra lawyer filed a petition before the High Court seeking an order on the legality of taking Pori Moni in multiple remands in the case defying an earlier order of the Supreme Court.

On September 2, the High Court asked the two lower court judges to explain why they had accepted the police request to remand the actress for multiple times in the narcotics case.
On September 15, the High Court expressed dissatisfaction over the explanations submitted by the two judges.
