Youth killed in Chuadanga road crash
A young man was killed and two others were injured on Monday as two motorcycles collided head-on in Alamdanga of the district.
Nor’wester damages houses, crops in Chuadanga
A number of houses and standing crops were damaged as nor’wester swept over Sadar, Damurhuda, Jibannagar and Alamdanga upazilas of Chuadanga district on Thursday.
The storm started around 12:25 pm and lasted for 30 minutes, said Samadul Haque, a meteorologist of Chuadanga Met office.
The wind speed of the storm was 55 kph while the Met office recoded 31 mm of rainfall during this period, he said.
Bangladesh Army installs disinfection tunnel in Chuadanga
Members of Bangladesh Army installed a disinfection tunnel at Shaheed Hasan Chattar area of Chuadanga town on Saturday to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner Nazrul Islam Sarkar inaugurated the tunnel in the morning.
Members of Army’s 119 Field Workshop installed the tunnel.

Woman suffering from fever, cold dies in Chuadanga
A woman, who has been suffering from fever, cold and cough, died at her house at Utholi village in Jibannagar upazila early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Sabina Khatun, 45, wife of Rafiqul Islam of the village.
Sabina had been suffering from fever , cold and respiratory problem for the last several days. She died around 1:30am.
A medical team from the local health department collected samples of the deceased for lab testing.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sirajul Islam went to the spot and put the house of the deceased and four more houses under lockdown.
‘Drug-trader’ killed in Chuadanga ‘gunfight’ with BGB
A suspected drug trader was killed in an alleged gunfight with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Notunpara border in Jibannagar upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Jasim Mandal, 35, son of Karim Mandal.
Lt Col Kamrul Hasan, commanding officer of BGB-58 battalion, said a team of BGB conducted a drive around 3am acting on a tip-off and arrested Jasim along with 23 bottles of phensedyl.
Following his information during primary interrogation, the team conducted another drive in the area to recover more phensedyl.
When the team approached the area, a gang of drug traders numbering 8-10 opened fire on them, triggering a skirmish.
Jasim was killed in the gunfight, said the BGB official adding that two BGB members were also injured.
The team also recovered 300 bottles of phensedyl and several sharp weapons.
Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Jibannagar Police Station, said Nayeb Subedar Hamidul Islam of Notunpara BoP filed a case in this connection.
Woman suffering from fever, cold dies in Chuadanga
An elderly woman suffering from cold, cough, fever and diarrhoea died at Basutipara village in Jibannagar upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Rehejan Begum, 65, wife of late Abdul Latif of Khairhuda village in the upazila.
Locals said she caught cold, cough, fever and diarrhoea during her stay at her relative’s house in Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah. Later, she returned to her daughter’s house where she died in the afternoon.
Jibannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sirajul Islam said they buried the deceased following the government rules.
They also put four houses under lockdown, he said.
Upazila Health Complex Officer Dr Juliad Pardine said they collected the samples of the deceased because she had the symptoms of coronavirus.
The samples were sent to Sadar Hospital for coronavirus test, he added.
