14th round of BPL Football begins Saturday; holders Kings to play Muktijoddha day one
Holders Bashundhara Kings to play lowly Muktijoddha Sangsad KC in one of the four Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football matches on Saturday (May 6) at 3:45 pm at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
Former champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will play Bangladesh Police FC at the Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi, also at 3:45 pm on the same day.
In the other two Saturday's matches, Saif Sporting will face Sheikh Russel KC at 3:45 pm at the Bashundhara Sports Complex here while six times champions Dhaka Abahani Limited will encounter lowly Rahmatganj MFS at 5:30 pm at the Sylhet District Stadium.

Last two times champions Bashundhara Kings dominated the league comfortably securing 32 points from 13 matches while Dhaka Abahani Ltd and Sheikh Jamal DC followed the leaders distantly with 28 and 27 points respectively.
Muktijoddha Sangsad KC and newcomers Swadhinata KS are struggling at the bottom securing seven and six points respectively.
BPL Football: Dhaka Abahani regain 2nd place beating Police FC 2-1
Coming from behind, six-time champions Dhaka Abahani Limited again advanced to the 2nd slot of the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football '2021-22 beating Bangladesh Police FC by 2-1 goal at the Sylhet District Stadium on Saturday.
Dhaka Abahani also beat Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 4-3 goal in the previous match after trailing by 0-2 goal.
After the day's match, Dhaka Abahani regained the 2nd slot toppling Sheikh Jamal DC securing 28 points from 13 matches.

Last two times champions Bashundhara Kings comfortably dominated the league collecting 32 points from 13 outings while Sheikh Jamal DC went down to 3rd slot with 27 points, also playing 13 matches.
In the day's match, Mohammad Al Amin put the Police team ahead in the 17th minute with the frustration of Abahani fans (1-0).
But, local winger Jewel Rana rescued the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit from a debacle scoring twice--first in the 22nd minute (1-1) and the match winning 2nd goal in the 68th minute (2-1).
In the day's another match, former champions Sheikh Russel KC almost avoid the relegation fear defeating Chittagong Abahani also by 2-1 goals at the Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla.
Ibrahim Akinade scored first for Sheikh Russel in the 32nd minute (1-0) while Aizar Akmatov sooredthe Russel margin in the 51st minute from a penalty (2-0).

Shakhawat Hossain netted the lone goal for Ctg Abahani in the stoppage time of the match (90+5 minute).
In the day's other match, Saif SC defeated Rahmatganj MFS by 4-2 goalsat the Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
Emeka Ogbugh struck twice in the 8th and 79th minutes, Bayisenge and Sunday Udoh scored the remaining goals for Saif SC in the 4th and 58th minutes respectively.Enamul and Ashraful scored one each for the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj in the 63rd and 76th minutes respectively.
BPL Football: Bashundhara Kings put half a dozen past Uttar Baridhara
Holders Bashundhara Kings maintained winning run in the 2nd phase of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2022 crushing lowly Uttar Baridhara Club by 6-0 goals at their home venue--Bashundhara Sports Complex-- here on Friday.
Last two times champions and star studded Bashundhara Kings, which dominated the league comfortably after the eleven- match first phase, today (Friday) further consolidated their lead securing 32 points from 13 matches.
Three times champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and six times champions Dhaka Abahani followed the leader distantly with 27 and 25 points respectively, playing 13 and 12 matches.
In the day's one sided match, newly recruited Brazillan midfielder Miguel Figueira, who scored twice against Swadhinata KS in his first appearance in the previous match, opened the floodgate for the Kings in the 26th minute while local medio Sohel Rana doubled the margin just four minutes later (30th minute).

Gambian striker Nuha Marong scored the 3rd goal for the Kings in the 38th minute to dominate the first half by 3-0 goals.
Forward Towhidul Alam Sabuz scored one more goals for the Kings in the 87th minute (4-0).
Baridhara defender Khokon Miah scored a sucidal goal in the 3rd minute of the stoppage time (5-0) while local striker Sumon Reza sealed the fate of the match scoring the 6th goal for the Kings in the very next minute (6-0).
In the day's other match, Sheikh Jamal DC beat Muktijoddha SKC by 2-1 goals at the Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
Nigerian foorballer Musa Nigere scored first for Sheikh Jamal in the 28th minute (1-0) while Gambian booter Solomon King Kanform sounded the Sheikh Jamal margin in the 66th minute (2-0).
Guinea defender Bakia Camara reduced the margin for the freedom fighters team Muktijoddha in the 70th minute (2-1).
2nd phase of BPL Football begins Sunday
The 2nd phase of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, the country's most prestigious soccer league, begins on Sunday in Rajshahi and Gopalganj.
In the 2nd phase opener, newcomers Swadhinata KS will play defending champions Bashundhara Kings at 3:30 pm at Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi.

In the day's other match, Sheikh Jamal DC will play Uttar Baridhara Club, also at 3:30 pm at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
On the following day (Monday), four matches will be held in Dhaka and other regional venues.
Six times champions Dhaka Abahani Limited will meet Muktijoddha Sangsad KC in Gopalganj while Saif SC will face Bangladesh Police FC in Rajshahi, both will kick off at 3:30 pm.
.In Monday's other matches, Chittagong Abahani will play Rahmatganj MFS at Sylhet District Stadium while Dhaka Mohammedan SC will encounter Sheikh Russel KC at Bashundhara Sports Complex in Dhaka, both will kick-off at 3:30 pm.
After the eleven- round first phase matches, last two times champions Bashundhara Kings comfortably maintained their solo lead in the league table securing 26 points while Dhaka Abahani Ltd followed them distantly with 22 points.

Former champions Sheikh Russel KC earned the 2nd victory in their 11th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football beating newcomers Swadhinata KS by 2-1 goal at their home ground--Bashundhara Sports Complex --here on Saturday.
With the day's long-cherished victory, Sheikh Russel KC moved up to the 8th slot in the league table securing ten points from eleven matches while Swadhinata KS remained at the bottom with six points from eleven encounters.
In the day's match, Manik Hossain Mollah put Sheikh Russel KC ahead in the 13th minute (1-0) while Kyrgyzstani defender Aizar Akmatov doubled the winners margin in the 20th minute from a penalty (2-0).
Uzbek defensive midfielder Nodir Mavlonov reduced the margin for Swadhinata KS in the stoppage time of the match (90+2 minute).

Later, Aizar got marching order after receiving 2nd yellow cards in the 77th minute of the match.
After the day's match, the first phase of the BPL Football completed with the domination of holders Bashundhara Kings.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, riding on a hattrick by Matthew Chinedu, beat newcomer Swadhinata KS by 3-1 goals on the resuming day of the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football '2021-22 at the Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi on Sunday.
Country's most prestigious soccer league BPL, resumed on Sunday at four different venues after a two-week recess for national team's engagements in two FIFA International Friendlies against the Maldives and Mongolia.
With the day's feat, three times champions Sheikh Jamal DC advanced to the 2nd slot in the league table securing 20 points from 10 matches while Swadhinata KS remained at the bottom with six points from 10 encounters.

In the day's match, Nigerian attacking midfielder Matthew Chinedu made a hattrick scoring all the three goals for Sheikh Jamal DC in the 29th, 38th and 67th minutes.

In the day's another league match, Saif Sporting Club outplayed Uttar Baridhara Club by 3-0 goals at Bir Shreshtho Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

Sheikh Russel likely to leave BPL Football protesting 'controversial refereeing'
Former Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) champions Sheikh Russel KC have demanded the suspension of two referees who allegedly made unfair decisions in two recent matches of the BPL.The referees are Alamgir Sarker and Bitu Raj, according to a media statement from the club.Alamgir officiated the match between Sheikh Russel and Bashundhara Kings at Bashundhara Kings Arena on February 28.Bitu officiated the match between Sheikh Russel and Police FC in Rajshahi on March 18.Sheikh Russel may leave the ongoing edition of the BPL if Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) does not suspend the two referees who made "controversial penalty decisions in these matches."The club is also considering seeking intervention from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, their chief advisor, if required, said the statement.The decisions were taken at an executive committee meeting of Sheikh Russel Tuesday.In a media statement signed by its director in-charge and standing committee vice-chairman Ismat Jamil Akhond Lavlu, the club said they became victims of controversial refereeing."Referees gave wrong decisions against us in two matches with Bashundhara Kings and Police Football Club. We had to lose points against Kings and share points with Police. We have watched those decisions several times on videos," the club said.

"We never went against any decisions taken by the BFF. But the situation has now become intolerable. We are really frustrated as the BFF did nothing," it added.Sheikh Russel also informed that they officially wrote to the BFF president and Professional Football League Committee and the BFF Referees' committee chairman about the controversial refereeing. They demanded punishment of two referees before the next round of BPL in April.The club also demanded the appointment of foreign referees to officiate matches impartially and to avoid all controversial decisions.The referees or the BFF could not be immediately contacted for comments.

The day's other league match between Dhaka Mohammedan SC and Uttar Baridhara Club ended in a goalless draw at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
