Six Myanmar nationals detained with 1.7 lakhs Yaba pills in Cox’s Bazar
Members of the Coast Guard (CG) and Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in a joint drive detained six Myanmar nationals and recovered 1.70 lakh pieces of Yaba pills from the Bay of Bengal adjacent to the Saint Martin Island on Tuesday.
The detainees - Kefayet Ullah, 22, Md Sharif, 27, Md Hossain, 38, Rahman, 43, Nur Hossain, 21, another Md Hossain, 27 - are residents of different areas in Akyab district of Myanmar.
The news of Yaba recovery was disclosed at a press conference held at the Station Office of Bangladesh Coast Guard Teknaf BCG on Tuesday afternoon.
On information a team of the CG and DNC led by Lieutenant Commander of the CG in BCG Teknaf Station Ashiq Ahmed and DNC Assistant Director Md Sirajul Mostafa conducted the drive in the Bay around 3am.

The team signaled an engine-run boat heading towards Cox’s Bazar from Myanmar to halt following their suspicious movement.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug peddlers turned back towards Myanmar but they were detained with the Yaba pills after a chase.
A process is underway to file a case against the detainees in this connection.
2 held with crystal meth, yaba worth Tk5.91 crore in Cox's Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Friday claimed to have arrested two men from Cox's Bazar's Teknaf on charges of smuggling yaba pills and crystal meth worth around Tk5.91 crore from Myanmar to here.
BGB Battalion-2 conducted a drive on the banks of the River Naf River near Hnila BOP of the upazila and detained Riaz Uddin, 20, and Saddam Hossain, 19.

Around 1.063 kg of crystal meth and 20,000 yaba pills, a boat, and illegal fishing nets were recovered from the possession of the duo, Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-2, told UNB.
The detainees were later handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station, he added.
Rab nabs 4, including cop, with Yaba pills in Ctg
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested four people, including a cop, with 5,260 pieces of Yaba at Chattogram medical college area in the port city on Thursday night.
The arrestees were identified as Upal Chakma, 45, a constable of special branch of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), his accomplices Nantu Dash, 42, Md Kamrul Islam, 30, and Md Gias Uddin, 42.
Mokhlesur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (DC-north) of the CMP, said on Friday that on secret information Rab members conducted a drive in front of a restaurant in the medical college area at around 10:45pm.
He said the members of the elite force found the Yaba pills from the possession of the four men.

Md Shahidul Islam, Deputy Assistant Director of Rab-7, filed a case related to drug peddling against the four suspects at the local police station, the DC added.
Yaba pills worth Tk 3cr seized in Cox's Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Friday claimed to have seized some 100,000 Yaba pills worth Tk 3 crore during a drive in Cox’s Bazar.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team conducted the drive around 3.30am in the Rahmater Bill area of Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

Sensing the presence of the border guards, suspected smugglers opened fire. Members of the force retaliated, forcing them to flee leaving the banned drugs behind, the BGB said in a release.
A legal process is underway in connection with the seizure, it added.
2 held with Yaba worth Tk 2.7 Cr in Bandarban
BGB members on Friday held two drug peddlers with 90,000 pieces of Burmese Yaba worth Tk 2.7 lakh from Naikhyangchhari upazila of Bandarban.
The arrestees are Lamangya Tangchangya, 28, and Lataimang Tangchangya, 38, residents of Reju Gorjonbunia of Naikshangchhari.

At around 3 am BGB's Cox's Bazar Battalion conducted an operation at an abandoned house in Chakmapara Kalajing Tila under Naikhyangchhari upazila, said a BGB media release.
After arresting the drug peddler duo, the BGB team managed to recover the drug hidden under the ground.

The arrestees were handed over to Naikhyangchhari Police under a drug case, the release also said.
Two Rohingyas held with drugs worth Tk 6.40cr in Cox’s Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Thursday claimed to have detained two Rohingya refugees with drugs worth Tk 6.40 crore in Cox’s Bazar.
The detainees have been identified as Sirajul Isalm, 28, son of Abul Kashem, a resident of Mochni camp, and Syed Salam, 38, son of Faruk Ahmed of Jadimora camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

Over a kg of crystal meth and some 40,000 pieces of Yaba have been seized from their possession, the BGB said in a release.
Tipped off, a team of BGB-2 conducted a drive at Jaliardwip along the Naf River and detained the two along with the drugs, said commanding officer of BGB-2, Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar.

The BGB also seized a boat, one cell phone and few fishing nets from their possession. "Legal steps will soon be taken against the detainees,” said Khalid.
Huge amount of yaba pills seized in Cox's Bazar
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Friday detained five drug peddlers and seized 6,90,000 yaba pills from Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The detainees are Mahbub, 30, son of the late Kabir Ahmed of Jaliapalang Pineashia Charpara area, Iqbal Hossain's wife Sufia Sultana Sumi ,26, Ali Ahmed's wife Fatema Begum ,65, Md. Rafiq Ullah, son of Md. Kalu Mia of Chakbaitha West Dighinala and Md Rafiq Alam.
Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team of BGB-34 conducted a drive at Iqbal Hossain’s house in the Koroibunia area around Friday at midnight and detained four of them with 50,000 yaba pills, said a media release of BGB.
Based on their information, the law enforcers conducted another drive at the Rujupara area and seized 6 lakh more yaba tablets, said the release.
Later BGB men arrested Rafiq Alam with 40,000 pcs of yaba from Gorjonbunia border.
Cox's Bazar: Myanmarese national held with Yaba pills worth Tk 2.40 cr
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday claimed to have nabbed a Myanmarese national with 80,000 pieces of Yaba worth Tk 2.40 crore in Cox’s Bazar.
The detainee has been identified as Md Kamal Hossain, 22.

Acting on a tip-off, two BGB patrol teams took strategic positions in the Naf river off the coast of Jaliardwip and intercepted a boat at 1am carrying two drug peddlers.
The teams managed to arrest one of the drug smugglers and recovered the banned narcotics from him, BGB said in a statement.
Rohingya teens arrested from airport area with over 6000 pcs Yaba
Airport Armed Police (AAP) arrested two Rohingya teenagers along with 6,000 pieces of contraband Yaba pills from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area in the capital on Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Saddam Hussein, 15, son of Mohammad Selim, and Mohammad Amin, 14, son of Salam. They are residents of Rohingya Camp No. 24 in Teknaf.
Sources at the AAP said during regular patrol duty on Tuesday afternoon, a patrol team of the AAP became suspicious of the movements of Saddam and Amin, as they walked around in front of a restaurant at the airport.
When they were stopped and interrogated, the duo started talking randomly. With the AAP team’s suspicions deepening, Saddam and Amin were taken to the AAP Office and searched.
During the search, around 6,070 Yaba pills were recovered from their possession, said Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) of the AAP (Media) Md Ziaul Hoque.

During interrogation, they identified themselves as Rohingya. They gave their fathers’ names and camp addresses.
The detainees also said that they were supposed to hand over the entire consignment of Yaba to a person staying in Dhaka.
A case in this connection is being prepared in accordance with law, Additional SPm Ziaul Hoque added.
Cox's Bazar: Two Myanmarese detained with drugs worth Tk 7cr
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday detained two Myanmarese nationals with drugs worth nearly Tk 7 crore in Cox's Bazar.
The detainees have been identified as Zubaier Ahmed, 22, son of Siraj Uddin, and Md Rafique, 23, son of Abdul Goni of Maungdaw in Myanmar.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB-2 team intercepted a boat in the Naf river and detained the two drug peddlers, said the commanding officer of Teknaf Battalion-2, Lt Col Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar.

The smugglers tried to escape by jumping into the river but were eventually caught, he said. "Some 54,000 Yaba pills and 1.069kg of crystal meth worth Tk 7 crore were seized from their possession."
