Coast Guard seizes 105,000 pcs of Yaba during raid around St Martin
Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized 105,000 pieces contraband yaba tablets raiding the seas adjacent to St. Martin's Island and Chhera Dwip on Tuesday.
Lt. Commander Abdur Rahman, a media officer at the Bangladesh Coast Guard headquarters here, confirmed it saying that based on secret information, BCG Station Teknaf led by Station Commander Lt Commander M Aminul Sajjada conducted a special operation in the sea area adjacent to Chhera island round 10:30 am on Tuesday.
During the drive, a wooden boat was seen entering the Bangladesh territory from the border of Myanmar, approximately seven nautical miles from St. Martin's Island.

Coast Guard members signaled the boat to stop as its movements seemed suspicious. Sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, the boat dropped a yellow sack into the sea water and quickly fled to the Myanmar border.
The bag was later searched and 1,05,000 pieces of yaba tablets were seized in an abandoned condition.
The Media officer of the Coast Guard headquarters also said that the seized yaba tablets have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
Over 1 kg Crystal meth, Yaba seized in Cox’s Bazar
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive seized 1.01 kgs of crystal meth and 10,000 Yaba pills from Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district early Saturday.
Tipped off, a team of BGB challenged two smugglers coming from Myanmar by a boat trough the Naf River, said commanding officer of Teknaf Battalion-2, Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar.

Sensing danger, the smugglers jumped into the river and managed to flee the scene.
Later, the BGB men seized 10,000 Yaba pills and 1.01 kgs crystal meth worth Tk 5.37 crore from the boat.

BGB recovers Tk 3 crore worth Burmese yaba in Cox’s Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh Cox’s Bazar battalion (BGB 34)recovered 1 lakh pieces of Burmese yaba worth Tk 3 crore on Monday.
The recovery was made from Goldebar Pahar area of Ukhia upazila during a drive, said BGB 34 in a press release.

Following a tip off, a BGB-34 patrol team took position in the area and challenged the smugglers while passing the border with Myanmar. The smugglers fled from the spot leaving a bag after an exchange of fire with the patrol team, said BGB 34.
The drugs were recovered from the bag later.

Rohingya refugee held with Tk 5.7cr worth Yaba tablets in Cox's Bazar
Armed Police Battalion (AAP) Thursday claimed to have detained a Rohingya refugee with Yaba tablets worth Tk 5.7 crore in Cox's Bazar.
The accused has been identified as Sadek Hossain, 25, son of Mir Ahmed.

Tipped off, a team of AAP raided the house of Sadek in the Balukhali Rohingya camp in Ukhia in Wednesday and seized 1.69 lakh pieces of the banned narcotics, additional SP of AAP, Kamran Hossain, told UNB.
"Sadek has been detained for questioning. The market value of the seized Yaba tablets is Tk 5.7 crore," he added.
1.80 lakh Yaba pills seized in Cox’s Bazar
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 1.80 lakh Yaba pills worth Tk 5.40 crore from the Naf River along Kharangkhali area in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Wednesday.
Tipped off, a team of BGB-2 conducted a drive in the area and challenged a boat coming from Myanmar around 12:15 am.

Being challenged, the smugglers opened fire on BGB members, forcing the border guards to fire back in self –defence.
Later, they seized the Yaba pills from two sacks.

No one was arrested as the smugglers managed to flee the scene.
BGB seized smuggled goods, drugs worth over Tk1073 crore in 2021
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods, arms and drugs worth around Tk1,073.44 crore in various drives across the country last year.
The seized narcotics included 22,440,009 Yaba pills, 331,785 bottles of phensedyl, 213,989 bottles of foreign liquor, 131,899 cans of beer, 19,492kg cannabis, 139kg heroin, 7,169 bottles of Cofidil and 237,506 Senegra tablets.
Around 50.433kg gold, 321kg silver, nine touchstone statues, 1,295,542 pieces of cosmetics, 55,947 sarees, 9,627 readymade garments, 53,757kg tea leaves, 165,405kg coal, 85 trucks, 60 private cars/microbuses, 80 pickup trucks, 368 CNG/battery run auto-rickshaws and 1,103 motorcycles were also seized.
The arms and ammunition seized included 44 pistols, 67 different types of guns, four revolvers, 35 magazines, 32 mortar shells and 250 rounds of bullets.
Legal actions were taken against 3,599 people for their involvement in smuggling.
Some 2,244 Bangladeshis and 86 Indian citizens were arrested for crossing the border illegally, BGB said.
5 alleged dealers apprehended by DB in Bangshal
Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested five alleged drug dealers from Bangshal area in the city and recovered 14,000 pieces of contraband yaba pills from their possession on early Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Nadim Mahmud, Md. Imran Hossain, Md. Sabuj Hawlader, Md. Mehedi Hasan and Md. Jamal Uddin.

Based on secret information, a team of Organized Crime and Car Theft Prevention Team of DB (Lalbagh Division) conducted a driver at Siddique Bazar of Bangshal at around 2:35 am and arrested the five alleged drug dealers, said Assistant Commissioner (AC) of DB (Lalbagh division) Madhusudan Das.
A total of 14,000 pieces yaba tablets and a private car, which was used in transporting the yaba consignments, were also recovered from the possession of the arrested five drug dealers, he said.
The detectives had information that some drug dealers were selling yaba in a private car on North South Road of Shaheed Nazrul Islam Sarani in Siddique Bazar area under Bangshal Police Station. Based on the secret information, Nadeem, Imran, Sabuj, Mehedi and Jamal were arrested while they were trying to escape after sensing the presence of police during the operation.

During the preliminary interrogation, Madhusudan said the arrestees revealed that they used to collect yaba from the border area of Teknaf in Cox's Bazar district and sell those contraband tablets in different areas including Dhaka metropolitan city.
A case was registered with the Bangshal police station under Narcotics Control Act, the AC added.
A Myanmar citizen and Bangladeshi held with arms and drugs
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained two drug smugglers including a Myanmar citizen with arms, crystal methamphetamine (Ice) and Yaba from Naf River of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
The detainees were identified as Dwin Mohammad, 40, of Teknaf upazila and Myanmar citizen Bodi Alam, 30.

According to a media release of BGB, following a tip-off about a large shipment of drug being trafficked from Myanmar through Naf River near Domdomia area, a patrol team of BGB-2 Teknaf battalion detained the duo from a boat on Thursday night.
After searching the boat, BGB men seized arms, crystal meth and yaba worth Tk 5.79, said the release.

The detainees were handed over to Teknaf Police Station to file a case in this regard, the release added.
Yaba pills worth Tk 9.60cr seized in Cox's Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Tuesday claimed to have seized over three lakh pieces of Yaba tablets worth Tk 9.60 crore in Cox's Bazaar.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team from Reju Amtoli border outpost raided the Goldebar Hill area of Raja Palong union in Ukhiya upazila around 8 pm on Monday.

During the raid, the team members challenged some armed people. But the suspected smugglers tossed a bag and escaped into the jungles, the border guards said in a statement.
Later, the BGB members seized 3.20 lakh Yaba pills, kept inside the bag. Legal action is being initiated in this regard, the statement said.
BGB recovers Tk 6 crore worth Yaba from Teknaf
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered two lakh pieces of Yaba worth Tk six crore during a drive at Teknaf, the force said on Friday.
The illegal drug was being smuggled to Bangladesh from Myanmar through Egarokani Alamgir Project area on Thursday, said BGB-2 in a press release.

A special patrol team of Whykong BOP spotted three men crossing Naf river with some plastic bags around 10:45 pm and started approaching them immediately.
But the smugglers managed to swim through the river and flee sensing the presence of BGB as the location was just 500 metres away from the Myanmar border.

Later the patrol team recovered the Yaba pills from the two bags they left from the spot, said BGB-2.
