A student of Kushtia Islamic University has been diagnosed with coronavirus in Bagharpara upazila.
Coronavirus: SI shifted to Dhaka from Kushtia
A sub-inspector of police's Special Branch, who was diagnosed with coronavirus, was shifted to Dhaka from Osmanpur village in Khoksa upazila on Saturday after his condition deteriorated.
Dr Kamruzzaman, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, said they sent SI Kazi Ataul, 35, to Rajarbag Police Lines Hospital as his condition worsened and there was no ventilator at Khoksa Upazila Health Complex.
The SI was sent to Dhaka by an ambulance, under the directives of Police Headquarters and supervision of district police, he said.
Meanwhile, the local administration put Ward-3 of Osmanpur village under lockdown and sent the family members of the SI to home quarantine.
Jahurul Alam, officer-in-charge of Khoksha Police Station, said SI Kazi came home on Tuesday night on a motorcycle.
IEDCR on Wednesday confirmed him over mobile phone that he was infected with coronavirus, OC added.
He was in home quarantine and was under observation by local physicians but his condition deteriorated and he started coughing heavily.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed 4,998 coronavirus cases and 140 deaths.
At a regular briefing on Saturday, the DGHS said coronavirus has spread to 60 districts in the country except Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Jhenidah and Satkhira.

Woman dies at isolation unit in Kushtia hospital
A housewife who was undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of Kushtia General Hospital died here on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Moyna Khatun, 43, wife of Abdur Rahim of Amla Mahdipur in Mirpur upazila.
Taposh Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer of Kushtia General Hospital, said the woman came to the hospital with fever, cold and respiratory probleml on April 10 and then she was taken to the isolation ward of the hospital where she breathed her last around 11:30 am.
But the hospital authorities are yet to receive the coronavirus test report of the woman, he said.
Man suffering from cold, breathing problem dies in Kushtia, 9 quarantined
Nine people, including two doctors and five staff of Sadar Hospital, were kept in quarantine after an auto-rickshaw driver suffering from cold and breathing problems died on Monday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known yet.
Meanwhile, eight to 10 houses in the neighbourhood of the deceased were put under lockdown.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zobayer Hossain said nine people were kept in quarantine after the death.
Civil Surgeon HM Anowarul Islam said the 40-year-old deceased had been suffering from cold, cough and breathing problems for three days.
“His sample has been collected since he is a coronavirus suspect. The body will be buried following the rules of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR),” he said.
Kushtia General Hospital's Dr Tapos Kumar Sarkar said the man, who lived at a rented house in the town's Chowrhas, died before he was brought to the hospital.
He caught a cold on Friday and had cough and breathing complications, Sarkar said.
Meanwhile, a new patient has tested positive for COVID-19 in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 49 on Monday. Bangladesh has so far confirmed five deaths.
The global death toll climbed to 33,993 on Monday -- a mortality rate of 18 percent, according to Worldometer.

The house of a Saudi returnee was locked down in Kalisangpur area of the district town on Thursday after his 7-month son was hospitalized with corona symptoms.
IU student killed in Kushtia road accident
A student of Islamic University (IU) was killed in a road accident at Tuniapara of Mirpur upazila in Kushtia district early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Shihab Ali, 24, son of Monwar Hossain of the area and a third year student of Law department of the university.
Abul Kalam, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station, said the accident took place around 1am when Shihab along with his father and brother was returning home by a three-wheeler, locally named as Alam Sadhu.
Shihab, at one stage, fell onto the road and suffered serious injuries.
