Bangladesh Archery team to fly for Thailand on Sunday
Bangladesh Archery team will leave here for Thailand on Sunday afternoon to participate in the 2022 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament, Stage-1, to be held in the Thai tourist city of Phuket from March 14-21.
Sixteen of the 17-member Bangladesh squad will leave here for Bangkok on Sunday at 1:40 pm by a flight of Thai International and will fly for Phuket on Monday at 10:55 am after staying a night in Bangkok .
However, another member, the German Head Coach Martin Frederick, will fly for Phuket by Qatar Airways Monday morning.

Recurve men's- Ruman Shana, Hakim Ahmed Rubel, Ram Krishna Saha and Sagar Islam;

Thirty five archers will compete in recurve men's, 24 in recurve women's, 33 in compound men's and 23 in compound women's events of the meet from 12 Asian countries.
Archery Judges Refreshers Course begins Friday
A two-day Archery Judges Refreshers Course '2022, organised by Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF), begins on Friday (Jan 28) at the Archery Federation office in the city.
BAF general secretary Kazi Razibuddin Ahmed Chapal will inaugurate the course at 11 am.

Eleven men and five women will participate in the two-day long course to be held from 9 am to 7 pm.
BAF member and member secretary of the Federation's Judges Committee M Faruk Dali will act as the Course Director.

Asian Archery: Bangladesh reach recurve mixed final for first time
Bangladesh mixed team reached the recurve mixed team event final of the Teer 22nd Asian Archery Championship eliminating India by 5-4 sets in tie breaker at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani on Tuesday.
Bangladesh team comprises Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Diya Siddiqui reached the event’s final for the first time eliminating their Indian rivals by 20-19 score in a fate deciding shoot-off after the event’s semifinal between them ended in 4-4 draw.
In the event’s final on Friday (Nov 19), Bangladesh will play Korea for their dream gold.

Earlier, Bangladesh team reached the semifinal eliminating Iran by 6-2 set points in the quarterfinal
In the recurve men’s team, Bangladesh team consisting of Ruman Shana, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Ram Krishna Saha were eliminated from the semifinals losing to India in tie breaker after the match was locked in 4-4 draw.
Earlier, Bangladesh team advanced to the quarterfinal after getting a bye and reached the semifinal beating Uzbekistan by 6-0 set points in the quarterfinal.
In the recurve women’s team, Bangladesh team studded with Diya Siddiqui, Beauty Roy and Nasrin Akter were eliminated from the semifinal stage losing to Korean team by 0-6 sets points after beating Uzbekistan by 5-3 sets points in the quarterfinal.

In the compound men’s team, Bangladesh exited from semifinal losing to Korea by 235-228 score while Bangladesh mixed team eliminated from quarterfinal losing to Iran by 154-157.
In the compound women’s team, Bangladesh made their early exit losing to Iran by 226-227 in the quarterfinal.
Asian Archery: Hakim ranks 8th, Ruman 9th in recurve singles qualifications
Two Bangladeshi leading archers -- Mohammad Hakim Ahmed Rubel -- ranked 8th scoring 666 while and Mohammad Ruman Shana 9th making 665 in the recurve men’s singles qualification rounds of the Teer 22nd Asian Archery Championship’ 2021 at the Bangladesh Army Stadium, Banani on Sunday.
Two other Bangladeshi archers -- Ram Krishna Saha and Abdur Rahman -- were placed 10th and 15th scoring 665 scoring 649 respectively.

Thirty-nine archers from 15 countries participated in the event with Lee Seungyun of Korea clinching the top slot scoring 680.
In the recurve women’s singles qualifications, Diya Siddiqui of Bangladesh ranked 12th scoring 637 improving her individual Olympics record of 635.
Nasrin Akter of Bangladesh finished 15th scoring 529 while Beauty Roy ranked 23rd scoring 621. Twenty-six archers from nine countries took part in the event with Ryoo Su Jung of Korea earning the top slot scoring 687. Bangladesh team ranked 4th in the recurve women’s team event scoring 1887 and Bangladesh finished 3rd in the recurve men’s team event making 1996.
In the compound men’s team event, Bangladesh ranked 4th scoring 2097 while Bangladesh ranked 6th in the compound women’s team event making 1987.

Teer 22nd Asian Archery Championship begins here Saturday
The Teer 22nd Asian Archery Championship’ 2021, organized by Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF), began here on Saturday at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani.
Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza inaugurated the weeklong continental meet.
Executive Director of the meet’s sponsor City Group (Teer) Zafaruddin Siddiqui was the special guest on the occasion.

Secretary General of World Archery Federation Tommy Rene Josephine and Secretary General of World Archery Asia Kyu Hyung Han (Thomas) were also present at the function.

Diya Siddiqui earns wild card to compete in Tokyo Olympics
Bangladeshi leading women's archer Diya Siddiqui got a wild card to participate in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Bangladesh Archery Federation in a media release on Monday said, Diya Siddiqui of Bangladesh got the quota place (wild card) along with three archers of three other countries to participate in this year's Tokyo Olympics.
Diya Siddiqui is the 2nd Bangladeshi archer to participate in the Tokyo Olympics despite she eliminated from women's recurve singles quarter final of the just concluded Olympic Games final qualification and Archery World Cup' Stage-3 losing to Umer Ana of Slovenia by 5-6 set points in the breaker held in Paris on Monday.

Earlier, Bangladeshi celebrated archer Ruman Shana directly qualified to compete in the Tokyo Olympics after winning the bronze medal in the recurve men 's singles of the Archery World Championship held in June, 2019.
Besides, athlete Jahir Raihan , swimmer Ariful Islam and Junaina Ahmed of Bangladesh earlier confirmed their participation in the Tokyo Olympics.

Bangladesh Archery team clinched two silver and one bronze medal in the 2021 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament, Stage 1, concluded at the Korean city of Gwang Ju on Friday.
Six BKSP archers took part in the five-day Asian meet under the banner of Bangladesh team.

Sheikh Sajib and Puspita Zaman of Bangladesh clinched the silver medal of the mixed team event losing to Korean pair Kim Jongho and SO Chaewon Korean by 146-155 score in the final on the last day of the meet on Friday.
In the men's compound team, Bangladesh team comprising Sheikh Sajib, Himu Basar and Asif Mahmud also earned the silver medal losing against Choi Yonghee, Kang Donghyeon and Kim Jongho of Korea by 205-235 score in the final.

Besides, Prodipta Chakma and Rajani Akter of Bangladesh won a bronze medal in the recurve mixed team event.
Bangladesh team will return home Sunday.

Archers Mohammad Ruman Shana and Diya Siddique clinched the first silver medal in archery for Bangladesh, the country's best result in a World Cup so far.
As the number 17 seed, the Bangladeshi pair failed to bring the gold home.
The duo lost to the Netherlands' Gabriela Schloesser and Sjef Van Den Berg by 1-5 set points in the recurve mixed event at the second stage of the 2021 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Switzerland's Lausanne Sunday.

World Archery: Bangladesh Recurve Men's, Women's teams eliminated from pre-quarter finals
Bangladesh Recurve Men's and Women's teams were eliminated from the Archery World Cup' 2021 Stage-2 from pre-quarter final stage in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Friday.
Bangladesh Recurve Men's team, consisting of Ruman Shana, Ram Krishna Saha and Tamimul Islam, conceded 4-5 set points defeat against Spain in the elimination round of 8.
Recurve Women's team, comprising Diya Siddique, Beauty Rai and Mehnaj Akhter Monira, suffered 2-6 set points defeat against France, also in the elimination round of 8.

Earlier on Thursday, Ruman Shana pairing with Diya Siddique made a landmark in the country archery by reaching the final of the Recurve Mixed Doubles of the World meet.
The Bangladeshi mixed pair smartly booked a seat for the final eliminating their Canadian rivals by 5-3 set points in the semifinal.
They will play mixed doubles final against the Netherlands on Sunday (May 23) at 3:29pm (Bangladesh time).

Earlier, they eliminated Iran by 5-3 set points in round-12, beat Germany by 5-1 set points in round-8 and eliminated Spain by 5-4 set points in the quarterfinal to reach the semifinal.
Ruman Shana was eliminated from his favourite Recurve Men's Singles in round-16 while Diya Siddique was eliminated from Recurve Women's Singles in round-24 on Wednesday.
World Archery: Ruman Shana eliminated from recurve singles
Bangladesh's celebrated archer Mohammad Ruman Shana's journey in the Archery World Cup stage-two ended Wednesday with his loss to the USA's Brady Ellison in round-16 of the men's recurve individual event in Switzerland's Lausanne.
Shana lost to Ellison by 2-6 set points after eliminating Estonia's Mart Oonna by 6-0 set points in round-24.
Also, Bangladeshi female archers Diya Siddiqui and Beauty Roy were eliminated from recurve women's singles in round-24.
In the compound men's singles event, archer Asim Kumar Das lost to Iran's Kowsar Seyed Hesameddin by 134-136 points.
On Tuesday, Bangladesh recurve men's team – comprising of Ruman Shana, Ram Krishna Saha and Tamimul Islam – advanced to round-8 where they will play against Spain.
