Premier Hockey: Abahani force Mariners to concede first defeat
Former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited halted Club Cup champions Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club’s all-win run beating them by 4-3 goals in a keenly contested super league match of the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey here on Thursday.
Dhaka Mariner Youngs’ Club needed just a draw in the day’s match to clinch their 2nd league crown with a match to spare against Dhaka Mohammedan SC on November 27, but they failed to give their best in the match held at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium.
With the day’s shocking defeat, Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club not only conceded the first defeat in the league after winning the 13 consecutive matches, but also forced to halt their party to celebrate the league crown after winning the season’s curtain raiser meet Club Cup Hockey title.

By virtue of the day’s merited victory, Abahani topped the league table jointly with Mariner Youngs Club securing 39 points from all the 15 matches, against Mariner Youngs 14 matches.
In the day’s nerve shattering match, Dutch player Bjom Kellerman struck put Abahani ahead in the very 7th minute from a penalty stroke (1-0) while Sohanur Rahman scored twice from penalty corners in the 14th and 17th minutes to put Mariner ahead from behind (2-1).

Bjom leveled the margin for Abahani in the 26th minute from a penalty corner (2-2) while Shonaur Rahman again put Mariners ahead in the 28th minute from penalty corner (3-2).
Khorshdur Rahman scored two quick goals in a span of a few seconds in the last minute of the match, both from penalty corners guiding Abahani to a dream victory.
Malaysia’s Gobinathan appointed Head Coach of Bangladesh national hockey team
Malaysia’s Iman Gobinathan Krishnamurthy, a hockey coach of BKSP, has been appointed the Head Coach of Bangladesh National Hockey team for the six-nation Hero Asian Champions Trophy’ 2021 beginning here on December 14.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation officially made this announcement on Monday (Nov 22).
The 43-year-old Malaysian, who played 190 international matches for Malaysia, had been appointed the head coach of Bangladesh team twice earlier, first in the 2014-15 season and second in March 2018.
BKSP Hockey Coach Zahid Hossain Raju has been made his deputy in the tournament.

On completion of the ongoing Premier Division Hockey League on November 27, the training camp of Bangladesh national hockey team will begin at the BKSP.
The six-nation Hero Asian Champions Trophy (Hockey) Dhaka’ 2021, organized by Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF), will be held on December 14-22 at Maulana Bhasani National Stadium in the capital.
Six leading Asian teams—India, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Pakistan and hosts Bangladesh—will meet each on league basis matches from December 14-19.
In the league basis matches, Bangladesh will play Malaysia on December 14 at 6 pm, play against India on Dec 15 at 3:30 pm, Korea on Dec 16 at 8:30 pm, 18 at Japan on Dec 18 at 6 pm and Pakistan on Dec 19 at 8:30 pm.

Later, four top teams will play in the semifinals on December 21 with the top team playing against the 4th ranked team while the 2nd ranked team will face the 3rd ranked team.
The final match will be held on December 22.
Super League of Premier Division Hockey begins Friday
The five-team super league of the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League begins on Friday at the Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in the city.
League leader Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club will play Sonali Bank SC in the opening match at 4 pm while former champions Abahani Limited will encounter Bangladesh Sporting Club at 6 pm in the other opening day’s match.
After a recess on Saturday, defending champions Mohammedan SC will play Bangladesh SC at 4 pm while Abahani Limited will face Sonali Bank SC at 6 pm on Sunday (November 21).

Two arch-rivals Mohammedan SC and Abahani Limited will meet each other on November 23 at 4 pm while Mariner Youngs Club will encounter Bangladesh SC at 6 pm on the same day .
Club Cup champions Dhaka Mariner Youngs’ Club completed the first phase league with all-win record securing full 33 points from straight eleven match.
On completion of the eleven-match first phase league, holders Mohammedan SC finished 2nd collecting 30 points losing only match to Mariner Youngs’ Club while Abahani Limited was in the 3rd slot with 27 points losing to both Mariner Youngs Club and Mohammedan SC.

The Club Cup champions Dhaka Mariner YC maintained their all-win record in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League beating former champions Dhaka Abahani by 1-0 goal at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium here on Monday.
After goalless first three quarters, Fazle Hossain Rabbi scored the match-winner for Arambagh outfit Mariners in the 52nd minute of the 4th and last quarter (1-0).

With the day’s feat, former league champions Dhaka Maringer Youngs Club topped league table securing full 33 points from 11 matches.
With the day’s first defeat, Dhaka Abahani Limited went down to the 2nd slot with 27 points from 10 encounters with one match in hand against Dhaka Mohammedan.

In the day’s other match, defending champions Dhaka Mohammedan SC outplayed Ajax Sc by 6-0 goals at the same venue Monday afternoon.
Mohammedan shared the 2nd slot with Abahani collecting 27 points from 10 matches.

Defending champions Dhaka Mohammedan SC also maintained their all win run in the league securing full 21 points from seven matches.

In the day’s first match, Dhaka Mariner Youngs’ Club maintained their top slot in the league table securing full 27 points from straight nine matches crushing Wari Club by 7-1 goal Wednesday afternoon.
Captain Mamunur Rahman Chayan, Shohanur Rahman and Shukhjeet struck two goals each while Fazle Hossain Rabbi scored the remaining goal for the Arambagh outfit Mariner Youngs. Mohabat scored the face-saving goal for Wari Club.

Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club earned a massive 14-0 goal win over Victoria Sporting Club in Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League’2021 at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Thursday.
Sohanur Rahman scored five, Tahsin Ali four, Fazle Hossain Rabbi two, Hridoy, Rohan Sabbir and Pardeep Mor contributed one goal each for the Arambagh outfit Mariner Youngs Club.

Club Cup Hockey: Mariner Youngs’ emerge champions beating Dhaka Abahani
Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club clinched the first-ever Club Cup Hockey title, the SIBL Club Cup Hockey Tournament’21, outplaying four times champions Dhaka Abahani Limited by 3-0 goals in the final at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Saturday.
Sohanur Rahman Sabuj struck twice in the 22nd and 58th minutes while Indian player Avishek scored the other goal in the 55th minute for the 2018 Club Cup runners up Mariner Youngs Clubm, shocking their formidable rivals and Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Ltd.
Avishek of the champion team was adjudged the best player of the tournament while Milan Hossain of the same team named as the highest scorer of the meet scoring six goals. Both the players got prize money of Tk 10,000 each from Khawja Rahmatullah Trust.

President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) and Chief of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshall Sheikh Abdul Hannan witnessed the day’s final as the chief guest.
Managing Director of the meet’s sponsor Social Islami Bank Ltd Kazi Osman Ali was also present as special guest.

The champions team received prize money of Tk 1,00,000 while the runners-up Dhaka Abahani Limited got Tk 50,000 as prize money.
Club Cup Hockey: Dhaka Abahani face Mariner Youngs' Saturday in final
Dhaka Abahani and Mariner Youngs' Club reached the final of the SIBL Club Cup Hockey Tournament 2021, eliminating their rivals in the semifinals at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium Thursday.
The teams will play the final Saturday at 3pm at the same venue.

In the day's semifinal, Dhaka Abahani thrashed Sonali Bank 7-2.
Belimappa Baharan scored three goals in the 7th, 13th and 59th minutes, while Pushkar Kisha Mimo, Naimuddin, Mehrab Hossain Shamin and Khorshed struck one each for Abahani.
Rocky scored two goals for Sonali Bank.

In the day's other semifinal, Mariner Youngs' Club got a walkover against Dhaka Mohammedan and was later declared the winner by 2-0 goals as per league bye-laws.
Club Cup Hockey: Mariner crush Azad 9-0
Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club thumped Azad Sporting Club 9-0 Sunday in the SIBL Club Cup Hockey Tournament at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium.
Harsdeep Kapoor and Milon Hossain struck two goals each, while Satandar Kumar, Avishek, Mamunur Rahman Chayan, Fazle Hossain Rabbi and Shahidur Rahman Saju scored one goal each for Mariner.

Dhaka Abahani Limited and Dhaka Mohammedan SC made flying start in the SIBL Club Cup Hockey Tournament outplaying their rivals in the opening day’s matches at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Thursday.
In the day’s opening match, Dhaka Mohammedan SC outplayed Ajax SC by 8-2 goals featuring four goals by Ashraful Islam in the 16th, 25th, 36th and 58th minutes.
