England players' wives, girlfriends spend £20,000 at Qatar cruise liner party
Wives and girlfriends of England's top players reportedly toasted the Three Lions' 6-2 victory over Iran in their 2022 World Cup opener on a posh Qatar cruise liner ship, their home during the tournament.
Harry Maguire's wife Fern, Jordan Pickford's partner Megan Davison, Kyle Walker's wife Annie Kilner, and Jack Grealish's girlfriend Sasha Attwood were in the group that allegedly partied with champagne and cocktails priced at $250 each and sang karaoke tunes while spending £20,000 in one go.

"They're on a premium drinks package whilst on board the cruise liner," a source told The Sun. It was all reportedly paid for before they arrived in Qatar.
The luxury cruise liner is docked in Doha for the duration of the World Cup. The group on the luxury cruise ship is among the nearly 7,000 people who have paid more than £6,000 for top-class accommodation during the tournament.

Qatar cruise liner ship includes a 643ft outdoor promenade, 14 ocean-view whirlpools, 13 dining venues, spa, wellness centre, thermal baths, a beauty salon, gym and more than 30 bars and cafes, as well as the tallest slide on any ship in the world, according to The Sun.
England arrives for 1st test series in Pakistan since 2005
England's cricket team arrived in Islamabad early Sunday to play its first test series in Pakistan since 2005.
Led by Ben Stokes, England will kick off the tour in Rawalpindi -- an adjacent city to Islamabad -- which hosts the first test from next Thursday. The second test will be played at Multan from Dec. 9-13 before England round off the tour with the final test at Karachi from Dec. 17-21.
England had played a seven-match T20 series in Pakistan prior to the T20 World Cup in Australia where it went on to beat Pakistan in the final.
England was due to tour Pakistan last year before the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates but abandoned the tour due to security concerns after New Zealand had aborted its tour to Pakistan just minutes before the toss in the first ODI at Rawalpindi.
There were some concerns over England’s test tour to Pakistan after former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was wounded in Wazirabad, a district in eastern Punjab province, during his protest against the sitting government.
“It’s been a long time since England have played test cricket in Pakistan,” Stokes had said in Abu Dhabi last Friday where the team trained for a week before flying out to Pakistan.

“With what happened with Imran Khan recently, there was a little bit of concern, but we have Reg Dickason, who has been the security man for many years with England, and we left it in his capable hands.”
Last Monday Khan had met with the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja and British High Commissioner in Lahore and assured the officials that his protest against the government will not disturb England cricket team’s tour to Pakistan.
Pakistan had hosted England twice in a test series at UAE over the last 17 years with foreign teams reluctant to travel to Pakistan after the Sri Lanka cricket team was attacked in Lahore in 2009.
However, since 2015 Pakistan has started regaining the confidence of foreign countries that it could organize international games at home and have hosted almost all the major cricketing nations, including South Africa and Australia.
The three-test series will be part of World Test Championship where Pakistan is sitting in fifth place while England is seventh. Pakistan needs to win the three-test series to keep its hopes alive for next year’s final.

Pakistan will be without its key fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, who has been ruled out of the series due to knee injury. The home team has also dropped middle-order batter Fawad Alam and ace leg-spinner Yasir Shah due to poor form.
Uncapped fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Mohammad Ali have been called up to the squad along with mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed, who is expected to make his debut during the series.
England also has injury concerns ahead of the first test with fast bowler Mark Wood in doubt due to a hip injury. Stuart Broad has been given paternity leave from the tour as England will be banking on its experienced fast bowler James Anderson to trouble Pakistan batters.
England has included 18-year-old Leicestershire allrounder Rehan Ahmed in the squad after originally drafting him as a net bowler for the tour.
Squad: Ben Stokes (capt), Harry Brook, Joe Root, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Ben Duckett, Liam Livingstone, Ben Foakes, Will Jacks, Keaton Jennings, Jack Leach, James Anderson, Jamie Overton, Ollie Robinson, Mark Wood, Rehan Ahmed.
US earns respect at World Cup, but wins remain elusive
Respect achieved. Wins await.
American players wanted more than a 0-0 draw with England on Friday night, likely the most-watched match of their lives.
The U.S. shut out a European opponent in the World Cup for the first time since 1950 yet left the tent-like stadium in the Arabian desert knowing a win in Tuesday’s politically charged matchup with Iran is a must to reach the knockout stage.
“We dominated the game. We had the more clear-cut chances. Obviously, it sucks that we couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net,” said midfielder Weston McKennie, standing out with red, white and blue streaks in his hair. “There’s a lot of people that obviously thought we were going to get blown out.”

The British tabloid The Sun ran a headline calling the result “Yawn in the USA.” England supporters booed loudly at the final whistle and American fans cheered.
“I guess that’s a positive sign,” U.S. star Christian Pulisic said. “Back home watching, I hope we made a lot of people proud.”
Playing before what figured to be a huge Black Friday television audience, the former Colonies remained unbeaten in three World Cup matches against Ye Olde Country, a run that includes the famous 1-0 upset at Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1950 and the 1-1 draw at Rustenberg, South Africa, in 2010. The U.S. had conceded goals in 19 consecutive Cup matches against European opponents until Matt Turner matched Frank Borghi’s clean sheet of 72 years earlier.
American fans outcheered England supporters, too, including a cheeky serenade of “It’s called soccer!” in the 40th minute.
“Now I’ll go back and I don’t think my Leeds teammates can say anything with all the banter they were saying before,” midfielder Brenden Aaronson said. “I think it does show that were going to get respect out of this game.”
In 2010, England dominated 14-10 in shots and 6-4 in corner kicks. This time the U.S., using five starters from Premier League clubs, led 10-8 in shots and 7-3 in corners.

McKennie had the best U.S. chance, putting an open 9-yard attempt wide from Tim Weah’s cross in the 26th minute. Seven minutes later, Pulisic bent a shot with his weaker left foot around Kieran Trippier and Bukayo Saka, and the ball glanced off a fingertip of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and against the crossbar.
England’s best opportunity came in second-half stoppage time, when Harry Kane sliced a header wide from Luke Shaw’s free kick.
The U.S. wore blue tie-dyed uniforms in Bayt Stadium, which has a tent-shaped roof with an underside in a red-and-black carpet pattern. The interior is filled with the sadu pattern of the Bedouin.
Coach Gregg Berhalter made just one change from the 1-1 draw against Wales, replacing forward Josh Sargent with Haji Wright in just his fifth international appearance. Usually wedded to a 4-3-3 formation, Berhalter switched to a 4-4-2 that was first practiced Wednesday, according to Aaronson, who referred to it as an “amoeba.”
“Regarding changing the way the world views American soccer, we’re chipping away at it, and you need games like tonight to be able to do that,” Berhalter said. “I talked before the World Cup about how seriously the team is taking, the staff is taking this responsibility to gain momentum in this sport in America, and good performances will do that. We want to capture the public’s attention. We want to perform at a high level. We want to give them something to be proud of, and a night like tonight helps, but there has to be more to come.”
Still, the U.S. has five losses and five draws against European teams at the World Cup since beating Portugal in 2002. Looking ahead to the Iran match likely will be the huge topic of Saturday’s Thanksgiving dinner with players, family and friends.
Iran upset the U.S. 2-1 at Lyon, France, in the second game of the 1998 World Cup, eliminating the Americans. Team Melli is coming off Friday’s 2-0 upset of Wales and would advance with a win, or with a tie if Wales fails to beat England.
“All we can ask for is to have destiny in our own hands,” Turner said, “and we have that.”
England crush Iran to raise hope again: "It might just come home".
“It’s coming home”, the theme slogan resonates euphoria for England fans and invites ridicule from other fans. The chant was making the rounds resolutely when Gareth Southgate’s team made a brave run to the semis in the World Cup 2018 defying all expectations. It has been a case of going close to home but not actually there. England has failed to jump over the final hurdles in their last two appearances in major tournaments.
The last one in the Euros 2020 final where they lost to Italy on penalties was a rather bitter pill to swallow for the English. Most of these players have now been there with Southgate’s set up for a while now, and the new ones are promising young talents raring to go make their mark on the world stage.
Iran in their opening game was a much more important test for their world cup credentials than many would give credit for. For starters, Iran is the 20th placed team in world rankings but even if we ignore that, England previously have been notorious for losing such games on the world’s biggest stage. One doesn’t have to go back much further than 2010 when England drew their opening game to the USA, who in comparison to their opponents can be labeled footballing minnows. The result was so shocking that much of the world media had misquoted the score in England’s favor the following morning. Dismantling an Iran team which must have been determined to make a statement performance by a 6-2 margin in their opening game shows the maturity of the England team.
Gareth Southgate’s biggest achievement as the team boss would be instilling a sense of national unity which even two world cups ago was divided by club loyalty. Iconic players such as Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard have gone on record to say how their club rivalries played a part in hostility within the dressing room. Now in 2022, such dressing room politics seem a tale of yesteryears. From Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka to Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, they are one team.

England’s new “golden generation” will however face challenges such as their approach of making this attack-heavy team retreat back into a defensive back-five whenever it comes up against top opponents. Their approach in their upcoming game against USA, which provides a potential route for revenge for 2014, and an always fierce battle against Wales will provide a clearer picture of how far England has come as a team. But the signs in the opening game were promising for this team and their avid supporters. For now the chants of “It’s coming home” seem more hopeful than delusional.

England Squad analysis for 2022 World Cup
It’s been 56 years since England won the World Cup. Although they approach the tournament with excellent players each World Cup, they fail to amaze the fans. But, this time, the team seems to have a good rhythm among the players. Under Gareth Southgate, England reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy in a tiebreaker.
So, this time, can England play the ultimate game? Is England going to win the World Cup title after 56 years? The Three Lions are going to the World Cup for the seventh time in a row, and they will be joined by Wales and Iran from Qatar World Cup Group B.

English coach Southgate announced the 26-member team for the 22nd appearance of the World Cup. He announced the World Cup squad with regular faces on November 10. England has a very talented pool of players, but their recent form is not promising. Also, their creative options are not very desirable. Harry Kane, one of the best strikers in the world, is joined by young midfielders like Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham.
The only surprise in England’s World Cup team is Leicester City star, James Maddison. After three years, this English midfielder returned to the national team just before the World Cup. This time England is going to Qatar with a much-expected team.
Midfielder Kalvin Phillips has returned from injury. However, Harry Maguire survived in the World Cup team despite poor performance and various criticisms. However, Fikayo Tomori, Evan Toney, and Jared Bowen did not make the team.

This time, Jordan Pickford is getting the responsibility of handling the English goalpost. But Southgate may suffer in defense. With Reece James and Ben Chilwell sidelined due to injury, the English coach will have to rely on Maguire and Arnold, who are out of form.
However, the English attack is full of stars. With so many options, Southgate will face difficulties in making the starting XI.
England team analysis for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar
Although Brazil, Argentina, France, and Portugal are the favorites to win the World Cup, they are not the most expensive team. The most expensive team in terms of current market value is team England. Let’s see some of the expensive key players.
Harry Kane, forward
Not only England but Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world right now. He is now physically fit and injury-free. The 29-year-old striker has a physio working round the clock. He has been in good form for Tottenham.
Read More: Germany Squad Analysis for 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
The biggest motivation for him will be to surpass Wayne Rooney, who scored 53 goals for the national team; just two more goals are needed to become England’s all-time leading scorer.
It will certainly surprise everyone if Harry does not surpass Rooney in Qatar. He was the joint-top scorer for non-penalty goals at Euro 2020 (4 with Czech Republic’s Patrik Schick). Joint top scorer in this year’s World Cup qualifiers (12 with Memphis Depay of the Netherlands).
Declan Rice, midfield
23-year-old West Ham captain Declan Rice is a regular member of the current England squad. He lets others play, and his ability to be in the right place at the right time has been an invaluable defensive asset for England.
Read More: France Squad Analysis for 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
No one but Rice can give this defense to Gareth Southgate. His ability to win the ball and positional discipline will give Bellingham the power forward in attack. England’s attack will always rely on his efficient passing, so his success or failure will largely determine the future of the England team.
Benjamin White, defense
25-year-old Ben White, who plays in Arsenal, can play in all three positions, center back, right back, and defensive midfield. However, in this year’s World Cup, he may also have to play at left back due to injury. Because the team’s regular left-back, Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell, has been ruled out due to injury.
Jude Bellingham, midfield
Jude Bellingham is the only England player selected from outside the English league. The 19-year-old midfielder plays for Borussia Dortmund. He will play the biggest role in filling the lack of a creative midfielder in the team. Teams will look to him to get forward with the ball and make the final pass inside the penalty box.
Read More: FIFA World Cup 2022: Things you need to know
Phil Foden, forward
Manchester City’s 22-year-old Phil Foden is considered one of the best young players in the world. He plays on the left foot but can play on the right wing when the team needs it. Although he is not physically strong, the ball sticks to his feet like glue and can easily trick the opposition player. He is a natural talent and also plays in the ‘false nine’ position if the team needs it.
Final Words
But can the England team really go far? They have had no win in the last 6 Nations Cup matches. Lost 4 and drew 2. They were beaten 4-0 by Hungary in June. However, England has qualified for the World Cup by being the champion in Group ‘I’ in the European region in the World Cup-2022 qualifiers.
If everything goes well, such as if England becomes the group champion from Group B’ and, on the other hand, Senegal or Ecuador becomes the runner-up from Group ‘A’ then England will not face difficulties in defeating Senegal or Ecuador in the second round. But in that case, they will likely face France in the quarter-finals. And the farewell bell for the English team in Qatar World Cup can ring from there.

T20 World Cup Final: England need 138 to lift Championship title
England have wrapped up Pakistan for 137 for eight in the final of the T20 World Cup on Sunday in Melbourne. They now need to score 138 to become the champions of T20Is for the second time.
England won the toss and sent Pakistan to bat first. The Babar Azam-led team failed to post a challenging total on the board. They lost wickets at regular intervals and never looked to offer some challenge to the English bowling attack.
Sam Curran, the England speedster, continued to shine and bagged three wickets after conceding just 12 runs in four overs. He was the highlight of England’s controlled bowling in the final.

Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan have also done well with the ball, picking up two wickets each.Pakistan lost Mohammad Rizwan in the power play, and young Muhammad Haris was also sent back early. From the beginning of their innings, Pakistan's batting lineup has looked sluggish.
Curran scalped the first wicket of Rizwan, and then Rashid came to the scene and picked up the wickets of Haris and Babar. Babar was opening his arms, but a googly from Adil did the trick for England. Babar fell for 32 off 28 balls.
After Babar’s dismissal, the onus was on Iftekhar Ahmed and Shan Masood to keep the scorecard afloat. But Iftekhar failed to deliver in the final. He had a duck and fell victim to Ben Stokes.Pakistan’s dismal batting continued after that. Shadab Khan scored 20 off 14 balls, but that was enough for them to pass the 150-run mark. They were not even able to score 140 in the final.

In the first ten overs, Pakistan scored 68 for 2. In the next ten overs, they scored only one more run, losing six more wickets. In the death overs, England's bowlers were as outstanding as they have been throughout the event.
Both England and Pakistan have won the T20 World Cup once before. With the kind of batting lineup the English team has, the 138-run target shouldn't be a difficult task for them to win the 2022 T20 World Cup final against Pakistan and register their second title in the format.
T20 World Cup Final: Rashid hunts Babar as Pakistan struggle
Pakistan seems to not be in a rush for the 2022 T20 World Cup final against England in Melbourne. They lost the toss and were sent to bat first.
Sam Curran, the best bowler for England in this World Cup so far, bagged the first wicket, and then Adil Rashid came to the scene and picked up the wickets of Haris and Babar Azam. The Pakistani captain was opening his arms, but a googly from Adil Rashid did the trick for England. Babar fell for 32 off 28 balls.

Pakistan vs England T20 World cup semifinal 2022
After bursting into life in spectacular fashion, Pakistan and England meet in the T20 World Cup final, on Sunday, 12 years after they last faced off at this tournament. On their day, England are unstoppable but their best form can be elusive, while the Men in Green have a habit of losing when they should win and winning when they're expected to lose.
Both Pakistan and England will be looking to win their second title at the premier T20 cricket competition. While Pakistan bagged the T20 World Cup in 2009, the second edition of the showpiece, England emerged champions at the subsequent edition in 2010.

Pakistan vs England T20 head-to-head
Leading into Sunday’s final the head-to-head record heavily favours England, who have won 18 of the 28 meetings between the two sides. Pakistan have won nine while one match ended with no result.
The record in T20 World Cups cuts an even grimmer picture for Pakistan, who have lost both their matches against England in the tournament.
T20 World Cup: Dominant England knock out India, to face Pakistan in final
England showed their white-ball prowess once again and knocked India out of the T20 World Cup by beating them by a massive margin of 10 wickets in the second semifinal on Thursday in Adelaide.
They will now take on Pakistan in the final, who beat New Zealand in the first semifinal on Wednesday and marched to the final.
India batted first and posted 168 riding on the fifties from Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya. In reply, Alex Hales and Jos Buttler played down every threat posed by Indian bowlers and sealed the match without losing any wickets. It was a textbook example of an authoritative performance from England.
“Pretty disappointed how it turned up today,” Indian Captain Rohit Sharmay said after the match. “We batted well at the backend to get that score. We were not upto the mark with the ball, we couldn't turn up today. It's all about handling the pressure in knockout games.”

It seemed to be a testing total for England at the halfway of the match, but Hales and Buttler made it look like cakewalk. Their partnership of 170 in the opening stand is now the best (in the first wicket stand) in England’s history.
It is now the third highest-ever chase in the history of T20Is without losing a wicket. And at the same time, it is now the second-best partnership of England (in any wicket) in the format and the second-highest T20 stand against India, and the best-ever opening stand in T20 World Cups.
On their way to this partnership, Hales and Buttler surpassed the 143 that was made by Alex Hales and Michael Lumb in 2013 against New Zealand. With this stand, Alex has now been involved in all five of the top opening stands of England.
“It will be right up there for sure (referring to his inning),” Hales said after the match. “Huge occasion, India in a semifinal of a World Cup, really happy with the way I played and it is as special as it gets.”
With 168 runs to defend, India were never in a position to offer some challenge to England — Hales and Buttler never gave them even a single chance to dominate. Indian fielders were also sloppy in the middle in this match.

England were in top gear throughout the tournament, but suddenly they went supersonic in the semi against India. And that too at a venue where they suffered one of their biggest defeats in history — to Bangladesh in the 1015 World Cup. That defeat knocked them out of that World Cup.
Hales ended up scoring 86 off 47 while Buttler made 80 off 49 balls.
For India, three bowlers conceded at least 12.5 runs per over while one gave way more than 11 runs per over, and two spent more than 7.5 runs per over.
Before the imperious batting efforts from Hales and Buttler, England won the toss and sent India to bat first who posted 168 despite some slow time in the middle in the first 10 overs.
India lost Lokesh Rahul early. But Virat Kohli took control of their batting, though, Rohit Sharma was unexpectedly slow at the other end of the wicket. Virat posted 50 off 40 balls whereas Rohit’s contribution was 27 off 28 balls.
At the end of the first ten overs, India were at 62 for two, but in the next 10 overs, England leaked so many runs. Most of those runs were scored by an outstanding Hardik Pandya who posted 63 off 33 balls with four fours and six sixes.

Adil Rashid bowled well for them conceding only 20 in four overs. Chris Jordan picked up three wickets but conceded more than 40 runs, Sam Curran also gave way more than 40 runs and failed to bag any wickets in the semi-final match between IND and ENG in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.
“We always want to start fast and aggressively,” Jos Buttler, the English captain said after the match. “Rashid was batting at 11, that's incredible to know that we have such depth. Hales used the dimensions well and he has shown his form. He was brilliant today. It's important to enjoy this, it was a brilliant performance from us.”
