Dhaka-10 by-polls: PM to cast vote at City College centre
Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will cast her vote in the by-polls to Dhaka-10 constituency at Dhaka City College centre on Saturday morning.
"The Prime Minister will cast her vote at Dhaka City College centre at Dhanmondi around 9am," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said on Friday.
The by-election to Dhaka-10, Gaibandha-3 and Bagerhat-4 constituencies will be held from 9am to 5pm on Saturday without any break.
The Election Commission will use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in Dhaka-10 constituency, while ballot papers will be used in other two constituencies.
Dhaka-10 constituency fell vacant after Awami League MP Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh resigned on December 29 to contest Dhaka South City Corporation election.
By-polls to 3 JS seats Saturday amid corona fear
Amid the fear of novel coronavirus infection, three parliamentary constituencies -– Dhaka-10, Gaibandha-3 and Bagerhat-4 –- are going to by-elections on Saturday.
Over 10 lakh people are eligible for exercising their franchise in the three constituencies. The voting will begin at 9am and continue till 5pm without any break.
Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in Dhaka-10 while traditional ballot papers in Gaibandha-3 and Bagerhat-4.
Awami League and Jatiya Party are taking part in all the constituencies, but another major political party BNP is running in two constituencies – Dhaka-10 and Gaibandha-3.
