A suspected drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Border Guard Bangladesh in Jadimora canal area of Teknaf upazila early Monday.

Seven suspected members of a Rohingya robber gang were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on a hill in Teknaf upazila here early Monday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
Tipped off that a gang of robbers of ‘Jokey Group’ was taking preparation to commit robbery in Jadimora-Mochni area of the hill behind Rohingya camp No 27, a team of Rab conducted a drive there around 4:30am, said Mirza Shahed Mahtab, company commander of Rab-15.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on them prompting them to fire back in self-defence that triggered the gunfight, Mahtab said.
After two and a half hours of the gunfight, the elite force members recovered seven bodies from the spot.
They also recovered two firearms from the spot.

Satyapriya Mohathero passed away at a hospital in the capital on October 4 at the age of 89. He will be cremated on Saturday as per the religious rituals after his mortal remains were preserved for 148 days.
Fakhrul expressed the hope that the Indian government will resolve the problem together with its people and political parties keeping motto of secularism intact.
He also hoped that India will address the issue of NRC considering the interests of its own nationals.
The BNP leader also expressed his resentment at rejection of their party Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail petition.
A BNP delegation, led by Fakhrul, joined the funeral of Satyapriya on the second day.
They paid their tributes to him by placing a wreath at the coffin.
Earlier, Prime Minister’s Economic Affairs Adviser HT Imam spoke at a commemorative rally as the chief guest in the morning.
