Schoolgirl dies falling off rooftop in Chattogram
A ninth-grader died after falling off the rooftop of a ten-storey building while playing cricket in Chawk Bazar area of Chattogram city on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Monam Samad Tahmin, 15, daughter of Haider Ali of the area. She was a student at Madarbari City Girls High School in the city.
Woman electrocuted in Chattogram
The victim’s father Haider Ali said he left home around 9 am for work in Agrabad area. His daughter took Tk50 for transport from him to school. He said his wife went to drop the younger daughter at another school.
Later, he received news that his daughter had fallen from the building.

Haider Ali also said Tahmin was short-sighted, so she wore glasses. His daughter even felt dizzy when she stood under the sun, Haider Ali said.
Mohammad Wali Uddin Akbar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chawk Bazar Police Station, said they recovered the body and sent it to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Two die as motorcycle loses control in Kishoreganj
Two people died and one other was injured after the motorcycle they were on lost control and hit a road pillar on the All-weather Road in Mithamoin upazila of Kishoreganj on Monday afternoon.

The three people were coming from Itna to Mithamoin by motorcycle. On the way, the motorcycle collided with a side pillar on the south side of Dhaki Bridge in Dhaki Union of Mithamoin Upazila at around 4:45pm. Yasin and Amir Ali died on the spot, and Mizanur Rahman was seriously injured, he said.
Mizanur was referred to Kishoreganj Hospital in a critical condition, added the OC.

Two motorcyclists killed in Sylhet road crash
Two men were killed in a head-on collision between their motorcycles on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Al-Amin, 25, resident of Shantinagar village of Gowainghat upazila, and Shakil Ahmed Imon, 30, resident of Laxmipur village in Jaintapur upazila.
Another person named Saidul Alam, who was riding with Imon, was injured in the accident.
The accident occurred before the Tamabil police outpost in Sylhet’s Gowainghat upazila.
Quoting locals, police said Al-Amin was going to Naljuri by a motorcycle from Tamabil Point. Imon and Saidul were going to Jaflong from Jaintapur by another motorcycle on Saturday night.
On the way, the two motorcycles collided in front of Tamabil police outpost on Tamabil-Sylhet highway. All three motorcyclists were injured.
Later, locals rescued and rushed them to Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared Al Amin and Shakil dead.
Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gowainghat Police Station, said both motorcycles have been recovered.
Two electrocuted while hoisting national flag in Gazipur’s Tongi
Two people were electrocuted while trying to hoist the national flag on the occasion of Victory Day in Gazipur’s Tongi this morning.
The deceased were identified as Aynal, 35, son of Kosimuddin from Naogaon, and Ashraful, 45, son of Abdus Sattar of Gaibandha.
They worked at a construction site in Fakir Market area in Tongi.
Witnesses said the duo came in contact with a live electric wire while trying to hoist the national flag around 7 amon Saturday.
They were immediately rescued and taken to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital in Tongi where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital morgue for autopsies, said Mustafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tongi East Police Station.
Legal actions will be taken in this regard, he added.
Fire at Mohakhali Filling Station: Death toll rises to 3
The death toll from the fire at a fuel filling station in Dhaka’s Mohakhali area on December 6 rose to three, with the deaths of two more people on Sunday and today.
The deceased were identified as Md Salauddin, 38, son of Nur Hossain of Feni district, and Amir Hossain Sumon, 32, son of Selim Hossain of Chandpur district.
