Indy Cup Football: Bashundhara Kings clinch title beating Sheikh Russell KC in penalty shootout
Star studded Bashundhara Kings clinched the Independent Cup Football crown for the 3rd time beating former champions Sheikh Russell KC by 4-2 in a penalty shootout at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla Monday afternoon.
The final match of the season's curtain raiser soccer meet, the Bashundhara Group Independence Cup 2022 between two former champions was locked at 2-2 in the stipulated 90 minutes.
Mayor of the Cumilla City Corporation Arfanul Haque Rifat and BFF Vice President M Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik witnessed the day's final and distributed the trophies.
Rakib Hossain of Bashundhara Kings was adjudged the best player, Dorielton Gome of the same team named as the highest scorer, Kings custodian Anisur Rahman named as the best player of the final while Dhaka Abahani Limited named as the most disciplined team to receive the "Fair play trophy"
All the four goals of the final were scored in the first half.
Brazilian medio Miguel Ferreira scored first for the Kings in the very first minute of the match (1-0) while Nigerian striker Mfon Sunday Udoh leveled the margin for Sheikh Russel KC in the 12th minute (1-1).
Ivory Coast midfielder Charles Didier put Sheikh Russel KC ahead from behind in the 32nd minute (2-1) while Brazilian forward cum Kings captain Robson Robinho neutralized the margin in the 45th minute of the match (2-2).
In the day's title deciding penalty shootout, Bashundhara Kings beat Sheikh Russel KC by 4-2 goals to win the tournament's title after the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. Dhaka Abahani Limited won the Independence title in the 2021-22 season.Earlier, last time champions Dhaka Abahani Limited finished 3rd in the tournament beating Bangladesh Police FC by 4-2 goals in a place-deciding match at the Bir Shrestha Fl Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Sunday.

Bashundhara Kings smarty reached the final of the season's curtain raiser soccer meet, the Bashundhara Group Independent Cup Football' 2022 eliminating Bangladesh Police FC by 3-1 goal in the 2nd semifinal at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj on Thursday.
They will play Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra in the final on Monday (December 5) at 1 pm at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla
Two losing semifinalists-- Defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited will play Bangladesh Police FC in the 3rd place deciding match on Sunday (December 4), also at 1pm at the Bir Shrestha Fl Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
In the day's 2nd semifinal, Brazilian striker cum team captain Robson Robinho put the star-studded Kings ahead in the 13th minute from a penalty (1-0)..
Rakib Hossain doubled the Kings margin in the 65th minute (2-0).
Brazilian striker Dorielton scored the 3rd goal for the Kings in the 73rd minute (3-0).
Forward Edward scored the consolation goal for Police FC in the stoppage time (90+1 minute) of the match (3-1).
Later, Kings local forward Rakib Hossain was adjudged the man of the match.

In the first semis on Wednesday, Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra forced out holders Dhaka Abahani Limited beating them by 3-2 goal.
Earlier, Dhaka Abahani Limited qualified for the semi-final eliminating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 2-1 goal while Sheikh Russell KC booked a seat for the last four stage eliminating Chittagong Abahani Limited by 1-0 goal in the quarterfinals.
Bangladesh Police FC qualified for the semis defeating Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 5-4 goal while big budgeted Bashundhara Kings made a semifinal berth beating Dhaka Mohammedan SC by 2-0 goal in their respective quarterfinals.
Round-4 matches of Women's Football League begins Wednesday
The 4th round matches of the Women's Football League' 2021-22 begins on Wednesday (November 30) at the Bir Shreshta Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.
Three matches will be held on Wednesday.
Barishal Football Academy will play Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan College SC at 1:pm. Bashundhara Kings will face Dhaka Rangers Football Club at 3 pm while FC Brahmanbaria will take on Suddopuskorini JSC at 5 pm at the same venue.

On the following day (Thursday),Nasrin Sports Academy will meet Cumilla United Club at 1 pm, Uttara Football Club will encounter Jamalpur Karcharipara Akadash at 3 pm while Siraj Smriti Sangsad will play Farashganj Sporting Club at 5 pm, all at the Kamalapur Stadium.

Bashundhara Kings and Sheikh Russell reached the semifinals of the new season's curtain raiser football tournament, the Bashundhara Group Independence Cup 2022, beating opponents in the quarterfinals Friday.
In the semifinals Wednesday, Sheikh Russell will play the winners of the Dhaka Abahani and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi match. Dhaka Abahani and Sheikh Jamal will lock horns in the quarterfinal Sunday.
In the other semifinal Thursday, Bashundhara King will play the winners of the Muktijoddha Sangsad and Bangladesh Police match. Muktijoddha and Police will face each other in another quarterfinal Sunday.

The final match will be held on Monday at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla.
In the day's first quarterfinal, Sheikh Russell beat Chittagong Abahani 1-0 at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.

Bashundhara Kings and Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan College Sporting Club earned comfortable wins in the Bashundhara Group Women's Football League 2022 at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Saturday.
In the day's first match, Ataur Rahman Bhuyan College Sporting Club earned a 12-0 victory over Farashganj Sporting Club.
Mirona made a hat-trick, scoring three goals. Aklima struck two while Swapna, Mahfuza, Onnoti, Kohati and Afeida scored one each for the winners.

Bashundhara Kings started their campaign in the Bashundhara Group Women's Football League'2022 with 2-0 goal victory over Uttara Football Club in the opening match at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mustafa Kamal Sadium in Kamalapur on Tuesday.
National striker Sabina Khatun opened the Kings account in the 45+2 minute (1-0) while another national coloured forward Krishna Rani Sarkar confirmed the Kings victory scoring one more goal in the 77th minute (2-1).

Coming from behind, Bashundhara Kings earned a 4-2 goals victory over Bangladesh Police FC in the BFF U-18 Football League at the Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club ground Monday afternoon.
The match was locked in 1-1 goals in the first half.
Akbar put Police team ahead in the 11th minute (1-0) while Sabbir levelled the margin for the Kings in the 36th minute from a penalty (1-1).
Ramzan and Rafiqul scored two more goals for the Kings in span of just minute in the 52nd and 57th minutes (3-1).
Tasnim pulled the Police margin one back in the 90th minute (3-2) while Raju sealed the fate of the match scoring one more goal for the Kings (4-2) in the stoppage time of the match (90+1 minute)

In a battle of pride and glory, newly crowned Bashundhara Kings beat runners-up Dhaka Abahani Ltd by 3-2 goals in the 21st round match of the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at a rain soaked ground of the Bashundhara Sports Complex here on Monday.
The match was locked in 1-1 goals in the first half.
The first phase match between two teams ended in a 2-2 draw at the Sylhet District Stadium last April.
In the day's crucial match, Brazilian playmaker cum Kings captain Robson Robinho made the difference between two teams scoring two goals in the later part of the match after Gambian striker Nuha Marong put the Kings ahead in the 20th minute.
Local medio Rakib Hossain and Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto scored for the traditional sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani, one in each half.

Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto reduced the Abahani margin in the 6th minute of the stoppage time (90+6 minute) by pushing the ball home following a penalty (3-2).
Earlier in the 83rd minute, a header of Abahani's Dorielton Gomes, off Daniel Colindres, returned to play, hitting side bar.
Bashundhara Kings, which earned a rare feat of clinching the hattrick title of BPL Football earlier with two matches to spare, further increased their points tally to 54 points from 21 matches with 17 win, three draw and one defeat against relegation bound and new comers Swadhinata KS in opener.
Dhaka Abahani, which earlier assured league runners up position, also with two matches spare, remained at 44 points from 21 encounters with day's 3rd defeat in the league.
This was the first hattrick title for Bashundhara Kings and the 2nd hattrick title in the BPL history
after Dhaka Abahani, which won the BPL crown for a record six times, including first three times in row in the year 2007, 2008-2009, 2009-2010.
Bashundhara Kings, which were deprived of the season's two major soccer trophies, deprived the Independence Cup and Federation Cup Football champions Dhaka Abahani for winning the triple crown in the season, by clinching the league title comfortably beating Abahani after three matches.
