Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi celebrates Eid
High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India Muhammad Imran has said Bangladesh is their "soul" no matter where they are in the world and emphasised working together.
"We have to work from our respective places to implement the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he said while exchanging Eid greetings with the officials and staff of the high commission and their families.
Addressing the officials and staff of the mission, Muhammad Imran said: "Your children should be present at all the national functions of the mission. In this way, they will be able to know about the history and tradition of Bangabandhu, the great hero of Bangladesh's independence."

PM Hasina congratulates Nepalese PM Deuba, hopes to strengthen ties
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday congratulated newly appointed Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and expressed hope that his new leadership will further deepen the excellent relations between their two close neighbours.
"Your return to the high position for the fifth time and the overwhelming support extended to you by the Parliament of Nepal on 18 July 2021, is a testimony to the trust and confidence the people and the political leadership of Nepal have on your leadership," she said in the congratulatory message.
Sheikh Hasina stated that as close neighbours, Bangladesh and Nepal enjoy excellent bilateral ties that are based on multiple commonalities and shared linkages, said a media release of PM’s press wing.

She expressed her deep confidence that under Deuba’s able leadership the existing multifarious cooperation between Bangladesh and Nepal will further be deepened through exploring the untapped opportunities in potential sectors of collaboration.
She recalled the recent visit by the President of Nepal to Bangladesh which, she said, added “immense value to our celebrations of the twin epochal events of the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh.”
She stressed that Bangladesh is on its way to translating the dream of the Father of the Nation for “Sonar Bangla” into a reality by becoming a developing economy by 2021 and a developed economy by 2041.

The Premier said Nepal can benefit from Bangladesh’s socio-economic development.
She reiterated that the relationship between the two countries that was forged when the leadership of Nepali Congress extended support to Bangladesh during the Liberation War in 1971 will continue to expand and deepen in the years ahead.
She extended invitation to Deuba to visit Bangladesh at his earliest convenience.
PM mourns death of noted journalist Simon Dring
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of true friend of Bangladesh and British journalist Simon Dring.
In a condolence message, she recalled the courageous role of Simon Dring in the Great Liberation War.
“He revealed the information and report of the devastating genocide of the occupational Pakistani forces on March 25, 1971 in front of the world community,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina said that he played a role to create public opinion in the world arena in favour of the Liberation War.
She said that he also contributed in flourishing mass media in the independent Bangladesh and in operating the first ever private TV channel of the country, Ekushey Television.
She prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Mango diplomacy: PM sends mangoes to the Maldives president
In continuing her mango diplomacy Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent 500 kgs of "Harivanga" mangoes to Maldives’ president Ibrahim Mohammed Solih as a token of friendship.Rear Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives handed over the mangoes to Aishath Shaan Shakir, Chief of Protocol of Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.Aishath received the mangoes on behalf of the president and expressed gratitude to Sheikh Hasina for the special gift.
PM Hasina has earlier gifted Harivaga mangoes, a juicy and tasty variety grown mainly in the northern district of Rangpur, to the leaders of India, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Mangoes were sent also to chief ministers of West Bengal, Tripura and Assam.
PM greets Tigers for ODI series win against Zimbabwe
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sunday congratulated the Bangladesh cricket team for their ODI series win against the hosts Zimbabwe.
In a congratulatory message, the prime minister greeted the players, coaches and officials of the national cricket team.

Hasina’s mango gift now goes to Sri Lankan PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent her beautiful gift of Bangladeshi mangoes as a goodwill gesture to Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Tareq Md Ariful Islam handed over the mangoes.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister expressed his wholehearted gratitude and thanks to the Bangladesh Prime Minister for the gift.

He hoped that it stays symbolic of their fruitful relationship between the two countries.

Raushan Ershad greets PM ahead of Eid-ul-Azha
Opposition leader Raushan Ershad on Sunday greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha that is set to be celebrated on July 21.
Prime minister's protocol officer-2 M Abu Jafar Raju received the greetings card on her behalf from Raushan's private secretary AKM Abdur Rahim Bhuiyan.

On July 6, Sheikh Hasina sent Eid greetings cards to the opposition leader in the parliament Raushan Ershad and Jatiya Party Chairman and deputy opposition leader GM Quader.
The Zilhajj moon was sighted in Bangladesh today and the month of Zilhajj will begin from July 12.
PM greets Tigers for Test series win against Zimbabwe
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sunday congratulated the Bangladesh cricket team for their big victory against Zimbabwe in the Harare Test.

PM monitoring developments after factory fire in Rupganj: Quader
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is monitoring the situation and the measures taken by the government after a devastating factory fire killed 52 workers at Rupganj near Dhaka, the Awami League general secretary said on Saturday.
Obaidul Quader, who is also road transport and bridges minister, was addressing virtually an event marking the observance of the 15th anniversary of Bangabandhu Adarsh Forum in Dhaka.

He expressed deep grief over the loss of life in the tragic blaze and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families.
Saying three committees have been formed to probe the fire, Quader vowed that no one found responsible for the disaster will be spared.

The fire broke out at Hashem Foods Ltd at Bhulta, Rupganj under Narayanganj district around 5 p.m. Thursday.
The meeting was presided over by Natyajan Ataur Rahman, president of Bangabandhu Adarsh Forum.
Auto-rickshaw workers seek PM’s intervention to overcome their hardships
Auto-rickshaw and light vehicle drivers have demanded that the government provides them emergency food and cash support to their families facing serious hardships due to nationwide 'strict nationwide lockdown'.
In a statement on Saturday, Abul Hossain and Golam Faruk, President and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Auto-Rickshaw Light Vehicle Transport Workers Federation (BALTWF) respectively, said the lockdown has left them without any work and earning.

The BALTF leaders said they have already made appeals to different concerned government offices seeking cash and food support for the unemployed and unfed workers.
“Even, we made our appeals through a press conference on June 28 in the city”, the BALTWF leaders said.

Transport workers are mainly day labourers. Their income has now totally stopped. “The transport workers feel that hunger is more critical for their lives than the Coronavirus.”
“We need livelihoods to save our lives. That’s why we seek Prime Minister’s intervention to ensure cash and food support for the transport workers”, said the BALTWF statement.
