PM launches cash disbursement for 5m families
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday inaugurated the disbursement of Tk 1,250 crore cash aid for five million poor families hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
Each family is receiving Tk 2,500 cash support through mobile financial services (MFS) – bKash, Rocket, Nagad or SureCash ahead of the Eid-ul Fitr.
The Prime Minister opened the disbursement through a videoconference from her official residence Ganobhaban in the morning.

Coronavirus: PM holding videoconference with Rangpur division
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is holding a videoconference with the public representatives and officials of the districts of Rangpur division over the COVID-19 issue on Monday.
The Prime Minister’s videoconference started at 11 am from Ganabhaban to coordinate ongoing activities to tackle coronavirus.
The districts under Rangpur division are-- Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Rangpur and Gaibandha.
Earlier, the prime minister exchanged views with the public representatives and officials of 59 districts of Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Sylhet, Barishal, Mymensingh and Rajshahi divisions in six phases.

PM mourns death of Mujibnagar Govt’s finance secetary Asaduzzaman
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former MP elected from Tangail Gopalpur-Bhuapur and finance secretary of Mujibnagar Government Khandaker Asaduzzaman.
In a condolence message, she said the nation will remember this valiant Freedom Fighter for his role in the great Liberation War and different democratic movements.
"The nation lost a sacrificing Awami League leader at his death," she said.
She prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Asaduzzamn breathed his last at 4:10pm at his home.
