Rains likely to drench Bangladesh
Brace for a wet spell, as the weather department has predicted showers in parts of the country in the next 24 hours.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Barishal, Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Rangpur, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Wednesday.
A mild heat wave is sweeping over Sylhet division and the districts of Rajshahi, Panchagarh and Nilphamari and it may continue, according to the BMD forecast.
Meanwhile, the low over the Northwest Bay off Odisha coast has intensified into a well-marked low over Odisha and adjoining areas.

It is likely to intensify further. Its associated trough extends to the East Central Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, as per the BMD bulletin.
Met office predicts more showers in 24 hrs
More rains are likely to drench Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, with monsoon being fairly active over the country and moderate over the North Bay, the weather department said Thursday.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in its forecast.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The Met office recorded the highest 35mm rainfall in Madaripur in 24 hours till 6am on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Flood Forecasting & Warning Centre of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) said the flood situation in Sylhet, Sunamganj and Netrokona districts may keep improving, while it is likely to remain the same in Kishoreganj and Brahmanbaria districts in the next 24 hours.
The flood situation in Kurigram, Gaibandha, Bogura, Serajganj, Tangail and Jamalpur may also improve.
Besides, there is a chance of short duration floods in the low-lying areas of Rajbari, Shariatpur and Madaripur districts in the next 24 hours, as per the forecast of the Flood Forecasting & Warning Centre.
Rains to cool off Bangladesh
As high temperatures continue to bake large swaths of Bangladesh, the weather department has predicted showers across the country in the next 24 hours.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said Saturday.

The mercury today reached 36.4 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Jashore, while the minimum temperature was 22.4 degrees in Bogura and Mymensingh.
The weather department recorded 61mm rainfall – the highest – in Bogura in the last 24 hours till 6pm Saturday.
Day temperature may rise slightly, and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged, the BMD said.
Maritime ports asked to hoist local cautionary signal 3
The country’s maritime ports have been advised to hoist the local cautionary signal three to alert vessels of a possible squall as deep convection is taking place over the North Bay, said the weather department on Monday.
Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, the North Bay, and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, said the Met office.

And so, maritime ports in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal three.
"All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice," it added.
Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur in most parts of the country with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country under the impact of the deep convection, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said.

Deep convection refers to the thermally driven turbulent mixing that moves air parcels from the lower to the upper atmosphere.

A mild heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Madaripur, Chandpur and Bagerhat and it may continue, it added.
The highest temperature Thursday was recorded at 36.8 degrees Celsius in Madaripur, while the minimum temperature was 21 degrees in Sylhet, the BMD said.

Pre-monsoon showers to drench Bangladesh

“Thunder showers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in its weather bulletin on Tuesday.

The thunder showers are also likely to occur "at a few places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram divisions", according to the bulletin.
BMD also said that moderately heavy to heavy falls are likely to occur at places over the northern part of the country.
Meanwhile, a mild heat wave sweeping over the districts of Chandpur, Rajshahi, Jashore and Khulna may continue, as per the weather forecast.

The day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The maximum rainfall was recorded at 82mm in Dimla upazila of Rangpur.

“Rain or thundershowers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions,” said a Met office bulletin.

Trough of westerly low lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over South Bay.

Brace for a colder Sunday, as the weather department has predicted a 1-3 degrees' dip in temperature in the next 24 hours.
"The temperature may fall in the country by 1-3 degrees," said Abul Kalam Mallik, a meteorologist with the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

According to the regular bulletin, “Weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy to cloudy sky over the country having chances of light rain or drizzle at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions.”
Moderate to thick fog may occur over the river basins and light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere over the country during midnight to morning, according to the bulletin.

The lowest temperature of the country was recorded at 8.9 degrees Celsius at Tetulia in Panchagarh on Saturday.

Yes, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday morning predicted rain or thundershowers in many parts of the country in the next 24 hours, a forecast it attributed to the deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal.
“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions,” the Met office said in its bulletin.

Besides, weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, it said. Night temperature may fall slightly and day temperature may fall by (1-3) degrees over the country.
Cyclone Jawad
The cyclonic storm ‘Jawad’ over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has moved north-northwestwards and currently lies over the same area, weather officials have said.
Around 6am on Saturday, the storm was centred about 1,030 kms southwest of Chattogram port, 995 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 885 kms south-southwest of Mongla port and 895 kms south-southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to move further in a north-northwesterly direction, the weather department said.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the cyclone centre is about 62 kmph rising to 88 kmph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre, according to the weather bulletin.
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra in Bangladesh have been advised to hoist at the mast local cautionary signal two to alert vessels of the impending storm.

All fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
Depression over Bay likely to weaken: Met dept
A depression formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has moved west-northwestwards and is likely to weaken, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The depression has crossed northern Tamil Nadu and adjoining southern Andhra Pradesh coast between Pondicherry and Chennai in India, according to its bulletin.

It is likely to move in a west-northwestwardly direction further, weaken gradually and become unimportant, the Met office said.
However, all fishing boats and trawlers in the deep seas have been advised to proceed with caution till the evening.
