BPL Football: Police come from behind to force draw against Mohammedan
Bangladesh Police came from a goal down to pull back a point in a 1-1 draw against Dhaka Mohammedan in the 20th round match of the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 Thursday.
Jafar Iqbal, the 21-year-old promising midfielder from Bandarban, put Mohammedan ahead in the 17th minute (1-0) and they maintained the lead till the 85th minute of the match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
But Police FC's Ivory Coast player Christian Kouakou scored four minutes before the final whistle to depart with a 1-1 draw against Mohammedan.

The victory gave fifth-placed Dhaka Mohammedan 33 points from 19 matches. Police remained at eighth spot with 19 points from 18 outings.
Bashundhara Kings stayed at the top of the table with 52 points from 19 matches.
Second-placed Sheikh Jamal earned 38 points from 17 encounters; Dhaka Abahani remained at third spot with 36 points from 18 outings.

In the remaining 20th round match on Friday, two former champions Dhaka Abahani and Sheikh Jamal DC will meet each other at 4pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Korea supports strengthening digital investigation capability of Bangladesh Police
South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Lee Jang-keun has expressed his government's commitment to continuously support strengthening the digital investigation capability of Bangladesh Police.
Ambassador Lee met Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Dr. Benazir Ahmed on Tuesday and discussed bilateral cooperation in addressing challenges in the constantly changing security environment, particularly in cyberspace.
Recognizing the close cooperation between the two countries and the Korean Government’s support in the capacity-building of Bangladesh Police, the two sides discussed the new assistance project by the Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA titled “Safer Cyberspace for Digital Bangladesh.”

The project, which aims at strengthening the digital investigation capability of Bangladesh Police, consists of constructing Cyber Police Center (CPC) in Chattogram, providing digital investigation equipment in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar, dispatching digital investigation experts, and training of Bangladesh policemen in Korea.
The project period spans 2020 to 2023 with a total budget of 4.8 million US dollars, said the South Korean Embassy in Dhaka.
Between 2013 and 2016, Republic of Korea provided assistance to Bangladesh in establishing Cyber Investigation Center (CIC) and Cyber Training Center in Dhaka with a total project cost of $3 million.

Ambassador Lee expressed his appreciation to the Inspector General for the cooperation of Bangladesh Police in assuring the safety of Korean nationals living and doing business in Bangladesh.
He also invited Benazir Ahmed to participate in the International Police Summit organized by the Korean National Police from 20 to 23 October this year.
Rickshawpuller tortured in city; 1 arrested
Police on Tuesday arrested an individual from the capital’s Bangshal area for torturing a rickshawpuller.
Accused Sultan Ahmed was arrested after a journalist sent the torture video link on social media to the Media and Public Relations wing of Bangladesh Police.
The video showed Sultan Ahmed slapping the rickshawpuller in Bangshal area at around 1:30 pm. At one point, the rickshaw puller fell on the ground and lost consciousness.
The Media and Public Relations wing ordered Bangshal OC Shaheen Fakir BPM to find the perpetrator and bring him under law immediately.
A team led by Bangshal OC found the accused and arrested him.
During interrogation, it was learned that Sultan Ahmed was a local landlord and an influential person in the area.
Legal action is being taken against him, said Bangladesh Police Media and Public Relations AIG Md. Sohel Rana.
