Shamsuzzaman made Bangabandhu Chair Professor at IU
Islamic University, Oct 2 (UNB) – Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of Bangla Academy, was appointed as 'Bangabandhu Chair' Professor at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Monday night.
The decision of appointing him to the post was taken at the 242nd syndicate meeting of the university with its Vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair.
IU Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, acting registrar SM Abdul Latif and, among others, were present at the meeting.
IU Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman told UNB that they have appointed Shamasuzzaman to the post with a view to conducting research on 'Bangabandhu and Bangladesh' during his tenure so that the new generation could know more about the Father of the Nation.
Born in Manikganj district, Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan was the director general of Bangladesh National Museum and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The 'Bangabandhu Chair' was established at IU Bangla department on 20 July 2017.
JU ‘A’ unit intake test held amid chaos
Dhaka, Oct 1 (UNB) - The admission test of ‘A’ unit (Mathematical and Physical Sciences faculty) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) under the academic session of 2018-19 was held on Monday amid chaos over the distribution of question papers among the aspirants.

HSTU admission test process begins
Dinajpur, Oct 1 (UNB) – The online process of admission to the first-year honours courses at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) under 2019 academic session began on Monday.
The process will continue until October 31, said a press release.
It said the admission test will be held from December 10 to December 13.
This year a total of 2,005 seats are available under 20 subjects in eight faculties of the university.
Students have been asked to visit https://www.hstu.ac.bd/admission for further details about the admission.
