Coronavirus: Natore to be locked down
The local administration is going to put Natore under lockdown on Thursday following a surge in coronavirus cases in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Shah Riaz came up with the announcement at noon.
The restriction will remain in force from 3pm on Thursday until further notice.
A physician of Natore Sadar Hospital has been diagnosed with coronavirus, creating panic among the doctors and health workers of the hospital.
Nine people, including the two health workers, were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Singra upazila on Tuesday and Wednesday.
With an increase in coronavirus cases, the local administration and Coronavirus Preventing and Controlling Committee took the decision to put the whole district under lockdown.
Bangladesh has seen a surge in coronavirus cases in recent days. On Wednesday, the country reported 641 cases and eight deaths. Until then, the health authorities have confirmed 7,103 cases and 163 deaths.
According to government data, 48 districts and 389 upazilas are under complete lockdown.

A physician of Natore Sadar Hospital has been diagnosed with coronavirus, creating panic among the doctors and health workers of the hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shah Riaz said the samples of the physician were sent for lab testing on April 26. The report came out on Wednesday and he was found infected with coronavirus.
There are some 132 doctors and health workers at the hospital.
The hospital will be put under lockdown and the samples of others physicians and health workers will be collected soon, said Shah Riaz.

Since it was first reported in China in December last year, coronavirus has infected 3,220,225 people globally, taccording to Worldometer.
Of them, 1,991,651 are currently being treated and 59,811 among them are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 1,000,351 people have recovered from COVID-19.
