Acting Chief Justice Enayetur Rahim’s mother passes away
Nazma Rahim, mother of acting chief justice M. Enayetur Rahim, died of old-age complications at a hospital in the capital on Wednesday. She was 80.
She breathed her last around 3pm while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
She will be buried next to her husband, former MP Advocate M Abdur Rahim, in the family graveyard after the third Namaz-e-Janaza at Panchkur High School grounds in Jalalpur village of the district on Thursday.
Nazma Rahim is the wife of the late M Abdur Rahim, one of the members of the draft constitution formulation committee and organisers of the Liberation War in 1971.
Veteran social worker Aziz Mallick passes away
Azizul Haque Mallick, a prominent politician, social worker of Shariatpur, died at a hospital in the capital on Tuesday. He was 96.
He breathed his last at Azgar Ali Hospital in Dhaka at around 1:30 PM.
Mallick has been undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past five-six days due to sickness.
He was survived by his wife, four sons, one daughter and a host of relatives, friends, colleagues and admirers.
His second elder son Moinul Haque Manju is a former Commissioner of Dhaka South City Corporation.
Other children live in the United States. Sister Hosne Ara Begum is a former Principal of Mohammadpur Government Women's College.
His political career began in Dhaka's Golapbagh in the company of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He was a close associate of national leader late Abdur Razzaq.
Mallick was the adviser of the Shariatpur district unit Awami League.
Mallick's first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Tikatuli Jame Masjid in Dhaka at 10:00am on Wednesday.
Later, he will be buried in the family graveyard following a second Janaza after Zohar prayer at Burirhat Jame Masjid in Shariatpur and the third Janaza after Asr at Manua Eidgah Maidan, respectively.
Enamul Haque Shamim, MP, Member of Parliament for Shariatpur-3 Constituency, Nahim Razzak, Shariatpur Journalist Association, Dhaka President Benazir Ahmed and General Secretary Asaduzzaman Azam expressed deep shock over the demise of the politician.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has expressed profound shock at the death of Freedom fighter and former state minister for Fisheries and Livestock Abdul Hye.
In a condolence message on Saturday, the President said that people will forever remember the veteran politician’s contributions to local politics.
Abdul Hye, former lawmaker elected from Jhenaidah-1 constituency, was a close aide of Bangabandhu and loyal soldier of Awami League, the president said in the condolence message.
The president prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Jhenaidah-1 MP Abdul Hyee passes away
Abdul Hyee, Jhenaidah-1 constituency MP and president of the district Awami League, has died. He was 78.
He breathed his last at 7:00 am (local time) on Saturday at the Bumrungrad Hospital in Thailand. His personal assistant Shahidul Islam confirmed his death from Thailand.
Hyee, also a former state minister, left behind wife, one daughter, and two sons to mourn his death.
Eminent Rabindra Sangeet artiste Sadi Mohammad no more
Abdul Hyee was born in Mohammadpur village of Shailkupa upazila. He was the youngest of the three sons and two daughters of his parents.
He was elected MP from Jhenaidah-1 in the 2001 elections.
In 2001, he was elected the convener of the Jhenaidah district Awami League. In 2005, Abdul Hyee became president of the Jhenaidah district Awami League. In the ninth national parliamentary election held in 2008, he was re-elected with AL ticket.
He served as the state minister for Fisheries and Livestock from 2012–2014. In the 12th national elections, he was again elected MP as the Awami League candidate.

Eminent Rabindra Sangeet artiste Sadi Mohammad passed away on Wednesday evening. He was 69.
His brother, renowned dancer Shibli Mohammad and family friend, dancer Shamim Ara Neepa, confirmed the news of his passing to the media.

Dhaka, Mar 10 (UNB): Ihasanul Karim, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's press secretary, passed away on Sunday, breathing his last at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital around 8pm.
PM's Deputy Press Secretary MM Emrul Kayes confirmed the death.
The prime minister expressed profound shock and sorrow at the demise of her press secretary.
In a message of condolence, she prayed for peace for the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
In the message, Sheikh Hasina said that as the Prime Minister's press secretary, the valiant freedom fighter performed his duties with utmost honesty, efficiency and devotion.
In his long journalistic career, Sheikh Hasina said Ihsanul Karim held many important responsibilities including Press Secretary to the President and Managing Director of the BSS.
“At his death, country's media lost a dear colleague and I lost a trusted official,” she said.
Ihsanul Karim left behind his wife, a daughter, a son, a host of relatives, colleagues and admirers to mourn his death.

Born in 1951 to a respectable Muslim family in Kushtia district, Ihsanul Karim obtained his master's degree in economics from Dhaka University and Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the same university.
Karim joined the Liberation War in 1971 and fought in the western frontier as a member of the Bangladesh Liberation Force (BLF).
On June 15, 2015, he was appointed as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s press secretary.
Prior to his appointment in the Prime Minister's Office, Karim served as the press secretary to the President.
He also served as the chief editor and managing director of national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), where he made his debut in the career as a staff reporter in 1972.
During his long career in journalism, Karim also served several foreign media like Bangla service of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), and Press Trust of India (PTI) as Bangladesh correspondent.

Hiru, ex-president of Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ), breathed his last around 1:00 pm while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Abu Naser Hospital in Khulna.

Fakhrul mourns death of Holiday editor Sayed Kamaluddin Ahamed
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday expressed deep shock at the death of weekly Holiday editor Sayed Kamaluddin Ahamed.
In a condolence message, he said Kamaluddin was a fully professional journalist who worked for different national and international media outlets with reputation.
Fakhrul recalled that Kamaluddin served as head of the communications wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Research and Communications.
The BNP leader also said the holiday editor worked to protect the interests of the journalist community by serving as the general secretary and president of the Jatiya Press Club.
