‘Robber’ killed in Ctg ‘gunfight’
Chattogram, Sept 27 (UNB) – A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Kattoli Beribadh in the city’s Pahartoli area early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Mohamamd Sabuj, 27.
Being tipped off that a gang of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 3:30 am, said Sadip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Pahartoli Police Station.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the gang opened fire on police, prompting them to fire back in self-defence.
At one stage, police recovered the body of Sabuj and arrested Apu, 25, from the spot.
Four policemen were injured in the incident, said the OC.
One pistol, two guns, one LG, a toy pistol and seven bullets were recovered from the spot.
Mohamamd Sabuj was wanted in 5/6 cases, said the police official.
