The buses are now being kept at the DTI terminal. The buses will be brought to Gazipur BRTC depot on January 31. The registration process will take one or two days. After that the buses will ply the road from second week of February, said BRTC Chairman Farid Ahmed Bhuiyan.
Besides these, five more air-conditioned buses, 42 regular buses, 25 trucks and 10 more double-deckers will arrive at the end of January, he said.
A total of 600 buses and 500 trucks are being brought under $2 billion loan agreement with India. The 600 buses include 300 double-deckers, 100 regular buses and 200 air-conditioned buses.
All buses and trucks will arrive in country by April of this year, BRTC official said.
“These buses won’t be like the old BRTC buses. 10 percent spare parts also being brought with these buses. The bus-makers will train BRTC employee about the technique of the buses,” Farid Ahmed Bhuiyan said.
