Rajshahi University, Oct 05 (UNB) – Three students of Rajshahi University were sent to jail for their alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, on Friday.
They are Ahsan Habib, Jonan Hossain and Towhidur Rahman, all final year students of Islamic Studies department, said Md Shahadat Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station.
Rajshahi Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Nurul Alam Muhammad Nipu passed the order after the trio was produced before it in a case on charges of planning to carry out subversive activities, said the OC.
Earlier on Thursday night, Motihar police detained the trio from Binodpura area of the city, adjacent to the university campus, while they were holding a secret meeting in order to carry out subversive activities ahead of the national election, the OC claimed.
