Laxmipur, Apr 24 (UNB) - A court here on Wednesday placed four people on a two-day remand in a case filed over the death of a woman who succumbed to her injuries after being set afire in Kamalnagar upazila allegedly by her husband for demanding her recognition as wife.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Tareque Aziz passed the order after police produced them before the court at noon seeking a five-day remand for them.
Those remanded are local union parishad member Hafiz Uddin, member of village defece party Abu Taher, and Alauddin and Abdur Rahman, two brothers of prime accused Salauddin, who woman Shahenur had claimed to be her husband, said public prosecutor Md Jasim Uddin.
Shahenur was set on fire by her ‘husband’ on Sunday and she succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital on Monday morning.
Police arrested the four after the victim’s father filed a murder case with Kamalganj Police Station on Monday night accusing 13 people, including Salauddin.
Meanwhile, Salauddin is still at large.
