Sunamganj, Aug 30 (UNB) – The death of an electric lineman in a tragic road accident in Gazinagar area of Dakhshin Sunamganj upaizila sparked protest on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Rahel Ahmed, 30, son of late Almas Ali, a resident of Bogularakara village in Joykolos and the lineman of Dirai Bidyut office.
The accident took place around 3:30 pm when a bus hit the motorcycle riding by Rahel in the area, leaving him dead on the spot, said Md Iftekhar Hossain Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Dakhshin Sunamganj Police Station.
Being angered, locals vandalised the bus, he added.
On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control.
However, the bus driver and helper fled away from the scene immediately after the incident.
