The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) organized various programs on Saturday, to commemorate the 45th Martyrdom Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day 2020 with due dignity and solemnity.
The national flag stayed hoisted at half-mast in front of the FBCCI Icon Building in the capital with processions carrying black flags.
Food was also distributed among orphans and the underprivileged while messages of condolence were sent to the members of the General Assembly.
Additionally, prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the souls of all the members of the family including the Father of the Nation.
FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim said if Bangabandhu had survived, Bangladesh could have reached its current economic position in the mid-eighties, and Bangladesh would have been a developed country by now.
“Under Bangabandhu's able leadership, GDP growth was 9.2 percent in 1975. Bangabandhu has sown the seeds of development of all kinds in the interest of the masses. Bangladesh is moving forward under the leadership of the People's Champion Sheikh Hasina following Bangabandhu's paved path. Today, the people of the country are reaping the benefits," he added.
Besides, as part of the program, a discussion meeting and prayers will be held on the occasion of National Mourning Day on August 29, 2020, at FBCCI Icon Building.
